AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah held separate meetings in Tirana on Friday with Albanian President Bajram Begaj and Prime Minister Edi Rama, covering bilateral ties and ways to enhance them.
His Majesty expressed Jordan's readiness to strengthen economic cooperation with Albania in various fields, particularly trade and tourism, in addition to promoting interfaith dialogue, according to a Royal Court statement.
During the two meeting, attended by HRH Prince Ghazi, His Majesty's chief adviser for religious and cultural affairs and personal envoy, the King expressed appreciation for Albania's role in combating terrorism and violent extremism within the framework of the Aqaba Process initiative launched by Jordan, the statement said.
Current developments in the region were also discussed, with His Majesty stressing that the Middle East will not achieve stability until Palestinians are granted their full legitimate rights.
The two sides highlighted the need to create a political horizon in order to achieve just and comprehensive peace, on the basis of the two-state solution.
The King urged the international community to step up efforts to immediately end Israel's war on Gaza, resume the flow of humanitarian aid, and halt the escalating situation in the West Bank and violations of Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
For his part, the Albanian president highlighted Jordan's important role in promoting peace and stability in the region. The president affirmed Albania's readiness to strengthen cooperation with Jordan in all areas.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, and Jordan's Ambassador to Albania Zuhair Nsour attended the meetings.
An official welcoming ceremony was held for His Majesty upon arrival at the Presidential Palace in Tirana, where the King also signed the guestbook.

21 Martyred in Israeli Strikes on Gaza Since Early Sunday - Jordan News

21 Martyred in Israeli Strikes on Gaza Since Early Sunday Palestinian medical sources have reported that 21 Palestinians were martyred in Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip since early Sunday morning. According to the sources, 8 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli strike on Jabalia al-Balad in northern Gaza. Medical teams also recovered the bodies of two martyrs following an Israeli attack on the Ma'an area east of Khan Younis. The sources added that 5 Palestinians, including two young girls, were killed when an Israeli drone struck a displaced persons' tent camp in al-Mawasi, Khan Younis. Additionally, young girl Dima Abu Mousa succumbed to wounds she sustained in an earlier Israeli airstrike on Khan Younis. In Rafah, 4 Palestinians were killed and 70 others injured by Israeli forces near an aid distribution center in the western part of the city. In central Gaza, one Palestinian was martyred and others were injured by Israeli gunfire near an aid center along what is referred to as the 'Netzarim Axis.' The Israeli army also demolished Palestinian homes and facilities in Jabalia, in northern Gaza, and in eastern Gaza City. Medical sources warned that fuel supplies at Gaza hospitals are sufficient for only two more days, and that many wounded individuals are struggling to reach hospitals in southern Gaza due to ongoing military activity. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) stated yesterday that "the current aid distribution model in Gaza is ineffective and amounts to a death sentence for people." Since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on Gaza on October 7, 2023, the death toll has risen to 54,772 with 125,834 injuries reported. — WAFA News Agency اضافة اعلان

Freedom flotilla approaches Gaza after reaching Egypt

A humanitarian aid vessel carrying 12 activists is now sailing along Egypt's coast en route to the besieged Gaza Strip, according to organizers from the Freedom Flotilla Coalition. The ship, Madleen, departed Sicily last week loaded with essential relief supplies intended for Palestinians in Gaza. The mission's goal, as stated by the coalition, is to "break Israel's blockade on Gaza," which has been in place since before the 2023 outbreak of war. 'We are now sailing off the Egyptian coast,' German human rights activist Yasemin Acar told Agence France-Presse (AFP), confirming the passengers are in good condition. In a Saturday statement from London, the International Committee for Breaking the Siege of Gaza confirmed that the vessel had entered Egyptian waters. The group said it is coordinating closely with international legal and human rights organizations to protect those on board, warning that any attempt to intercept the ship would be 'a blatant violation of international humanitarian law.' European Parliament member Rima Hassan, also among the passengers, appealed to world leaders to 'guarantee safe passage for the Freedom Flotilla.' "Israel" has previously responded with force to similar maritime efforts. In 2010, a raid by "Israeli" commandos on the Turkish ship Mavi Marmara, which was part of a previous aid flotilla, left 10 civilians dead. More recently in May, another ship from the coalition, the Conscience, reportedly came under drone fire, prompting emergency interventions by Malta and Cyprus. Earlier in its current voyage, Madleen temporarily diverted course near Crete to respond to a distress call from a migrant boat. Activists aboard rescued four Sudanese migrants who had jumped overboard in an attempt to avoid being pushed back to Libya. The rescued individuals were later transferred to an EU Frontex ship. The Freedom Flotilla Coalition, which began its efforts in 2010, represents a network of civil society groups demanding an end to the humanitarian blockade of Gaza. "Israel" imposed the latest round of severe restrictions on March 2, only partially easing them since, despite mounting international condemnation.
