King holds meetings with Albanian president, PM

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah held separate meetings in Tirana on Friday with Albanian President Bajram Begaj and Prime Minister Edi Rama, covering bilateral ties and ways to enhance them.
His Majesty expressed Jordan's readiness to strengthen economic cooperation with Albania in various fields, particularly trade and tourism, in addition to promoting interfaith dialogue, according to a Royal Court statement.
During the two meeting, attended by HRH Prince Ghazi, His Majesty's chief adviser for religious and cultural affairs and personal envoy, the King expressed appreciation for Albania's role in combating terrorism and violent extremism within the framework of the Aqaba Process initiative launched by Jordan, the statement said.
Current developments in the region were also discussed, with His Majesty stressing that the Middle East will not achieve stability until Palestinians are granted their full legitimate rights.
The two sides highlighted the need to create a political horizon in order to achieve just and comprehensive peace, on the basis of the two-state solution.
The King urged the international community to step up efforts to immediately end Israel's war on Gaza, resume the flow of humanitarian aid, and halt the escalating situation in the West Bank and violations of Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
For his part, the Albanian president highlighted Jordan's important role in promoting peace and stability in the region. The president affirmed Albania's readiness to strengthen cooperation with Jordan in all areas.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, and Jordan's Ambassador to Albania Zuhair Nsour attended the meetings.
An official welcoming ceremony was held for His Majesty upon arrival at the Presidential Palace in Tirana, where the King also signed the guestbook.

During the meetings, attended by HRH Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah, His Majesty reaffirmed Jordan's support for Syria's efforts to preserve its security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, noting the importance of Washington's role in supporting the reconstruction process in Syria in a manner that preserves the rights of all Syrians, according to a Royal Court statement. The King highlighted Jordan's readiness to share its expertise in all fields to help develop and strengthen the capabilities of Syrian institutions. His Majesty also noted the need to step up Jordanian-Syrian cooperation, particularly in combating terrorism and preventing arms and drug smuggling. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh attended the meetings. Shibani and Barrack were in Jordan to participate in a tripartite Jordanian-Syrian-American meeting held to follow up on talks hosted in Amman last month, and discuss the situation in Syria and ways to support the country's reconstruction.

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday received Egypt Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, who headed his country's delegation to the Jordanian-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee meetings in Amman. During the meeting, held at Al Husseiniya Palace and attended by HRH Crown Prince Hussein and Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, His Majesty stressed the importance of continuing the high level of coordination and cooperation between Jordan and Egypt, particularly in the economic field, to work towards shared goals, according to a Royal Court statement. Speaking about regional developments, the King reiterated the urgency of stopping the war on Gaza, and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid to all areas of the Strip. His Majesty also praised Egypt's efforts, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, in support of Palestinians. The King warned of the danger of Israel's security Cabinet's endorsement of a plan to consolidate its occupation of Gaza and expand military control over it, stressing Jordan's rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, or annex land. Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh attended the meeting.
