OPEN// PM: Offering of several state-owned companies for private institutions to manage them

CAIRO, April 9 (MENA) – Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said on Wednesday that several cooperation agreements have been signed by the Sovereign Fund of Egypt, the National Service Projects Organization (NSPO) of the Armed Forces, and a group of specialized local and international consulting offices with regard to restructuring and managing the listing of several companies affiliated with the NSPO.
During a press conference held following the weekly Cabinet meeting, the premier added that these agreements are part of the measures taken by state bodies concerned with implementing the government's listing program.
This involves offering many state-owned companies to private sector institutions for management and operation, in line with Egypt's State Ownership Policy Document.
The prime minister stated that the agreements for listing companies under the NSPO include the National Company for Petroleum, Chillout, Silo Foods Industries, Safi, and Watanya Company For Roads.
Under the agreements, offering of some companies will be finalized in 2025 with the rest to be completed in 2026.
Meanwhile, the premier said he followed up progress in the the project to develop the Pyramids archaeological area after the pilot operation of the Pyramids' entrance from Fayoum's direction.
Madbouli also referred to reviewing ways to utilize the down town Cairo's 'ministries' square' while preserving its architectural nature and heritage. He said that the area, which used to house the government's headquarters, will be offered for re-utilization in June. (MENA)

In statements to MENA on Monday, Fouad said that Sharm El Sheikh joined the ICLEI network, thanks to its sustainable development strategy, citing the injection of investments worth EGP 800 million in the new and renewable energy sources in the city to produce 51 megawatts of clean energy, the establishment of 145 kilometers of bike lanes, the introduction of a public bike-sharing system and robust solid waste management systems. She added the next phase will focus on activating the Sustainable Environmental and Social Strategic Development Strategy (SESSDS), through banning the use of single-use plastic in 50 hotels, empowering local community initiatives, especially in protected areas and coastal areas, and expanding partnerships with the private sector and international supporters.

JAKARTA, June 7 (MENA) – Indonesia has expressed interest in deepening cooperation with Belarus in the field of potash fertilizer supplies, TV BRICS reported. Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugianto expressed hope for expanded cooperation with Belarus in this area to support the government's program to ensure the country's food security. The statement was made during Sugianto's meeting with Belarusian Ambassador to Indonesia Raman Ramanouski. According to the data presented, in 2024, trade between the two countries showed significant growth, increasing by 44.1% compared to the previous year and reaching 128.4 million US dollars. Indonesian exports amounted to US$43.6 million, which is 22.5% more than a year earlier. Indonesia is optimistic about further expanding exports to Belarus, as positive trade relations with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member country open up opportunities for broader economic cooperation in the Eurasian region. CAIRO, June 7 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty received a phone call from his Cypriot counterpart Constantinos Kombos on Saturday. The call is part of periodic communication between both sides to discuss ways to cement bilateral ties and review visions on regional developments. Abdelatty praised the historical bonds between Egypt and Cyprus, voicing keenness to boost relations in different domains, particularly economic, investment and trade ones. He lauded Cyprus's backing for Egypt at European Union-affiliated bodies, particularly on the EU-offered financial support package for Egypt. Both ministers reviewed visions on a number of international and regional issues of mutual interest and agreed on maintaining coordination to defuse regional tension and support security and stability in the region. Abdelatty also highlighted Egypt's efforts on ceasing fire in the Gaza Strip and guaranteeing the delivery of humanitarian aid into the war-ravaged Palestinian enclave. (MENA)
