Andrew Tate and brother Tristan face rape and trafficking charges in UK
Influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate have been charged in Britain with rape and other crimes, prosecutors said on Wednesday.
The charges were authorised last year, and news media at the time reported on arrest warrants issued against the Tates, dual US and British citizens who moved to Romania in 2016.
But the Crown Prosecution Service said this was the first time it confirmed they had been criminally charged in Britain.
Andrew Tate, 38, faces charges related to three women that include rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking and controlling prostitution for gain.

The Tates were arrested in Romania in late 2022 and formally indicted last year on charges that they took part in a criminal ring that lured women there, where they were allegedly sexually exploited. Andrew Tate was also charged with rape.

EU to China: your ‘impressive rise' must not crush our industries
The European Union 's trade chief Maros Sefcovic has warned China that its 'impressive rise must not come at the expense of the European economy' as the bloc continues to push for Beijing to loosen export controls on rare earths and act on trade diversion. Advertisement Speaking in Brussels on Thursday, two days after meeting Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao , Sefcovic stated that 'China has a responsibility to match its support for multilateralism with full respect for the rules meant to ensure fairness and equity'. 'Hence, our calls on China to address systemic issues affecting Europe and other partners, such as overcapacity, subsidies, market access barriers, critical minerals export restrictions, investment conditions and trade diversion,' the Slovakian official said at the Brussels Economic Security Forum. 'We are committed to rebalancing this relationship and establishing a level playing field in trade and investment, with symmetrical market opening.' Sefcovic met Wang on the sidelines of an OECD ministerial summit in Paris and said he raised as a top priority China's export controls on rare earth minerals and magnets, which have threatened to undermine European industries. Maybe better to let Ukraine, Russia ‘fight for a while', Trump tells Germany's Merz
US President Donald Trump said Thursday that it might be better to let Ukraine and Russia 'fight for a while' before pulling them apart and pursuing peace. Advertisement In an Oval Office meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Trump likened the war in Ukraine – which Russia invaded in early 2022 – to a fight between two young children who hated each other. 'Sometimes you're better off letting them fight for a while and then pulling them apart,' Trump said. He added that he had relayed that analogy to Russian President Vladimir Putin in their phone conversation on Wednesday. Asked about Trump's comments as the two leaders sat next to each other, Merz stressed that both he and Trump agreed 'on this war and how terrible this war is going on', pointing to the US president as the 'key person in the world' who would be able to stop the bloodshed. But Merz also emphasised that Germany 'was on the side of Ukraine' and that Kyiv was attacking only military targets, not Russian civilians. Advertisement 'We are trying to get them stronger,' Merz said of Ukraine. Thursday's meeting marked the first time that the two leaders sat down in person. After exchanging pleasantries – Merz gave Trump a gold-framed birth certificate of the US president's grandfather Friedrich Trump, who immigrated from Germany – the two leaders were to discuss issues such as Ukraine, trade and Nato spending.
