The Boston Red Sox continue to look for answers following a 7-6 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Monday. As the team falls four games under .500 and now nine games back of the American League East lead, the return of third baseman Alex Bregman becomes more prevalent.

Bregman suffered a strained right quad on May 23 in a matchup against the Baltimore Orioles. Initially, he did not think the injury was as severe as his 2021 quad injury. However, when Bregman arrived at the ballpark the next day, he told the media it did not respond how he had hoped.

After an MRI, he was placed on the 10-day injured list, adding to the team's already lengthy list of star players on the shelf. Despite not being able to offer a timeline for Bregman's return, manager Alex Cora offered a positive outlook for the third baseman on Tuesday.
When asked about Bregman's rehab, Cora stated, "[He's] getting treatment, feeling better. Good to see him around, obviously, helping everybody. But in good spirits. So, it was a good week for him," Christopher Smith of MassLive.com shared.

Before his injury, Bregman was amid a career resurgence, batting .299 with 11 home runs and an OPS above .930. He is also tied for second among third basemen with six defensive runs saves, according to FanGraphs.
While the Red Sox offense still ranks inside the top 10, having Bregman operating the hot corner again will provide much-needed power, as shown by the former All-Star's 3.0 baseball-reference WAR.
Boston will host the Angels in game two of a three-game series, with Abraham Toro and top prospect Marcello Mayer sharing time in Bregman's absence.
