FSB claims Ukraine tried to blow up Crimean bridge with bomb smuggled through Georgia

Attempted blast on the Crimean bridge Russia's FSB has said Ukraine planned to blow up the Crimean bridge using a bomb smuggled in through Georgia. The agency claimed an attempt to detonate a car loaded with 130kg of explosives was foiled. 'A car packed with a powerful improvised explosive device entered Russia from Ukraine via several countries. It crossed the Russian-Georgian border at the Verkhny Lars checkpoint and was supposed to be transported to Krasnodar region on a private car carrier,' the statement said. According to the FSB, the car was to be handed over to a man who would cross the Crimean bridge and become an 'unwitting suicide bomber.' 'Despite all the efforts of the Ukrainian terrorists, FSB officers managed to uncover their plans in time, find and defuse the explosive device carefully hidden in a Chevrolet Volt, and detain everyone involved in bringing it into Russia,' the agency said. Vladimir Putin's 'secret daughter' blasts Russian leader and supports Ukraine in war

An alleged daughter once hidden from public view has broken her silence by directly denouncing her 'father', Vladimir Putin, for the destruction he wrought across millions of lives in Ukraine A woman widely believed to be Vladimir Putin's long-rumoured daughter has emerged as she condemned the Russian leader for the devastation of war and extended her support to Ukraine amid the conflict. ‌ Elizaveta Krivonogikh, a 22-year-old art school graduate living in Paris who is believed to be Putin's youngest daughter, shared the messages on her private Telegram, in line with her increasing openness on Instagram as she's started to share more images of herself. ‌ Though her identity remains officially unconfirmed, she insisted that her father's decisions have cost "millions" of lives and obliterated any semblance of normalcy she might have known. It comes after Putin warns of nuclear war after unleashing another night of hell on Ukraine. ‌ 'It's liberating to be able to show my face to the world again,' she wrote, Bild reported. 'It reminds me of who I am and who destroyed my life,' she added. The Telegram chat, dubbed 'Art of Luiza,' references her work pseudonym, Luiza Rozova. Krivonogikh has never shot down the theories surrounding her being Putin's daughter. The budding artist was born in 2003 after a suspected affair between Putin and her mother, Svetlana, the president's then-housekeeper. The bombshell was first revealed after a 2020 investigation by Russian media outlet Proekt, citing her 'phenomenal resemblance' to Putin. He isn't listed on her birth certificate, but 'Vladimirovna' was included, translating to 'daughter of Vladimir.' ‌ It comes as President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine is set to visit the White House on Monday and confront a difficult choice from President Trump: give up land to Russia in exchange for US. promises for Ukraine's future security, or hold his ground and risk reigniting Trump's anger. Just hours before the meeting, Russian attacks in the Ukrainian cities of Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia killed at least 10 people, including a child, and injured dozens of others, the Ukrainian authorities said. ‌ Mr Zelensky condemned the strikes as a deliberate attempt to put pressure on Ukraine amid the talks. Residents of Kyiv are said to be sceptical that his meeting with President Trump will bring progress toward an end to the Russian invasion. Many Ukrainians were still reeling from watching Trump greet Putin with a red carpet and warm handshake in Alaska on Friday, when the two leaders held talks that ended with Trump tilting toward Russia's position on ending the war. ‌ Putin invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, with the war still raging on three years later. According to the British Ministry of Defence, more than one million Russian troops have been killed or injured since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began on 24 February 2022. The estimate aligns with a recent study by the US-based Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), which puts Russian military deaths at up to 250,000 and total casualties, including the wounded, at over 950,000. Ukraine has suffered very high losses as well, with between 60,000 and 100,000 personnel killed and total casualties reaching approximately 400,000.

How Ukrainian sharpshooter used AI to kill two Russian soldiers with one bullet in world record 4,000m shot as Kyiv's elite marksmen 'rewrite the rules of global sniping'

An elite Ukrainian sniper used AI to set a new world record for the longest confirmed sniper kill, eliminating two Russian soldiers from a distance of 4,000 meters, in a move that has 'rewritten the rules of global sniping'. The shot was made using a 14.5mm Snipex Alligator rifle, a domestically produced anti-materiel weapon, on August 14. The operation was supported by artificial intelligence and drone guidance, which assisted in targeting and confirming the strike. The sniper, part of Ukraine 's elite Pryvyd (Ghost) unit, engaged the targets in the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad defensive line in Donetsk. The shot was captured on video by Ukrainian journalist Yurii Butusov, who reported that the bullet passed through a window, striking the two Russian soldiers inside. The footage has been widely circulated, showcasing the precision and range of the shot. This achievement surpasses the previous record held by Ukrainian sniper Viacheslav Kovalskyi, who in November 2023 eliminated a Russian officer from a distance of 3,800 meters using a 'Lord of the Horizon' rifle. That record had itself broken the previous mark set by a Canadian special forces sniper in Iraq in 2017. Ukrainian soldiers said at the time that they were 'rewriting the rules of global sniping'. On Telegram, Butusov wrote: ' Incredible accuracy and a new world record for the longest range! During the year of performing combat missions in the defence of [Donetsk region ], almost 1,000 servicemen of the Russian armed forces have already been destroyed. That record had itself broken the previous mark set by a Canadian special forces sniper in Iraq in 2017. The Snipex Alligator rifle, developed by Ukrainian company XADO, was officially adopted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in March 2021. Weighing approximately 25 kilograms and measuring about 2 meters in length, the rifle is designed to engage both personnel and equipment at long ranges. Its 14.5×114mm calibre rounds are capable of delivering significant kinetic energy over extended distances It features a manually operated bolt-action system and is fed by a detachable 5-round box magazine. The rifle boasts a barrel length of 1,200mm and an overall length of 2,000mm. Designed for long-range engagements, it has an effective range of up to 2,000 meters and a maximum range of 7,000 meters. The Snipex Alligator is equipped with a MIL-STD rail for mounting optics. While the specifics of the AI system used in this operation have not been publicly disclosed, its application shows significant advancement in modern warfare This record-setting shot shows Ukraine's growing capabilities in precision warfare and the increasing role of technology in contemporary conflicts. Meanwhile, in the Pokrovsk area, where the shot was taken, Russian military activity has been intensifying. According to reports from August 13, there were 148 clashes between Ukrainian Defence Forces and Russian invaders recorded on the frontline, with 51 of them occurring in the Pokrovsk sector. Putin's men have also intensified their activities in the Lyman and Novopavlivka sectors. These developments follow Russia's ramp-up of military activity to expand its forces' presence in the region, despite pressure to end the war.
