Arnold Schwarzenegger cracks rare joke about Maria Shriver — and the film residuals she still asks for

New York Post13-05-2025

He's got jokes.
Arnold Schwarzenegger made a rare comment about ex-wife Maria Shriver while promoting his newest holiday movie, 'The Man With the Bag,' at Amazon's Upfront 2025 Presentation in New York City on Monday.
The 77-year-old 'Terminator' star likened the upcoming flick to another Christmas classic he starred in, 'Jingle All the Way.' He then poked fun at Shriver, who filed for divorce from Schwarzenegger in 2011 after 25 years of marriage.

''Jingle All the Way' was the greatest Christmas movie of all time,' he said during the event, per People. 'They play it the whole month of December.'

'I know,' Schwarzenegger added, 'because my ex-wife calls me about the residual.'
Schwarzenegger previously opened up about his split from Shriver, 69, in September 2023 before the release of his 'Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life' motivational book.

Although Shriver filed for divorce from the 'Conan the Barbarian' star in 2011, the pair didn't finalize their split until December 2021.
'We never left the chapter,' he explained to People at the time. 'Because remember, it's not like we had a feud. We didn't have a fight. It's just my f–k up, right?'
'She said, 'Okay, this is what it is,' and then she decided to make a split,' Schwarzenegger continued, 'so it was her decision.'

'But the fact is,' he added, 'we always made it very clear that the kids should not suffer because of that.'
Shriver filed for divorce from Schwarzenegger two months after he revealed he fathered a secret son, Joseph Baena, now 27, in 1997 with the family's housekeeper, Mildred Baena.
The 'Total Recall' actor and Shriver have four children together: Christopher, 27, Patrick, 31, Christina, 33, and Katherine, 35. Despite their split, the pair is still happy co-parents to their adult kids.

'My chapter with Maria will continue on forever,' the former governor of California said in September 2023. 'Even though it's a different relationship, there's no reason for me to feel anything other than love for her.'
As for Shriver, she opened up about the couple's shocking split this year with the release of her 'I Am Maria' book.
She called the divorce 'brutal,' and admitted that she was left 'terrified' in the wake of the 'devastating' and 'life-altering blow.'

'It broke my heart, it broke my spirit, it broke what was left of me,' the former journalist wrote. 'Without my marriage, my parents, a job – the dam of my lifelong capital-D Denial just blew apart.'
'Honestly, it was brutal,' she added, 'and I was terrified.'

Shriver also clarified that she is now in 'such a good place' after the initial shock of the divorce, and that she and Schwarzenegger are 'still in conversation' thanks to their children and grandchildren.
'We laugh a lot about our kids, our grandkids, ourselves, and we are proud of the fact that we are still in conversation,' she said in March. 'For almost 50 years!'

Actor Patrick Schwarzenegger contemplated using alias because of famous father

US actor Patrick Schwarzenegger has said he contemplated using an alias to stop people from comparing him with his famous father. The 31-year-old from California is known for playing Saxon Ratcliff in series three of dark comedy The White Lotus, and said the show's creator, Mike White, told him his surname comes with 'baggage'. Speaking to his father, Arnold Schwarzenegger, as part of Variety's Actors On Actors series, he said: 'I think Mike was worried about, if he casted me, what other people would think, which they did, they did care about that. 'You know, people said, Oh, I got the role just because of you, or mum, or whatever that is. 'And I think Mike was a little bit kind of apprehensive at first about that. 'There were times earlier in my career where I was wondering 'Does it make sense to go under some sort of alias? Does it make sense to go under a different name. Do I just use Schwarzenegger? Does that add to comparison? Does that… whatever'. 'And ultimately, I mean, what you've done with your last name and what you've built is, it is incredible. 'It took a while for me to get to a point where I was less worried about like, comparison and living in your shadow, versus me just wanting to carve my own path and wanting to do it the way that I thought I should do it, and kind of taking the baby steps and slowly growing my career over the 10 years. 'Then you have a project like this that just kind of makes it boom.' Arnold said: 'I'm grateful you kept the name because now I can take credit – 'My son, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree'. Those kind of lines that I'm using now. 'You basically now (have) joined this short list of people, of actors in Hollywood that had famous parents. Jamie Lee Curtis, you know, with Tony Curtis. 'The list goes on and on and on, and all of them benefited and also of course had to show that they had talent.' He added: 'I think that if you show that you have the substance, you can get rid of this whole idea of nepotism. 'Just show that you have substance and I think that everyone recognises that now.' Arnold, 77, a former governor of California, was a bodybuilder before he ventured into acting, breaking through with action adventure epic Conan The Barbarian (1982) before his most notable role as the Terminator, in 1984.

Woman Kicked out of Courtroom for What She Yelled at Sean 'Diddy' Combs

Sean "Diddy" Combs' federal trial took an unexpected turn on June 3 when the proceedings were disrupted. A female heckler yelled out his nickname in the Manhattan courtroom, along with "several profanities," according to People. "These motherf—ers are laughing at you," she screamed and then added, "You're laughing at a Black man's legacy" and "Pull your gun out, ninja, I dare you." Judge Arun Subramanian had her removed from the courtroom while Combs reportedly did not react to the disruption. The disturbance came on a crucial day of testimony from Eddy Garcia, a security guard at InterContinental Hotel in Century City, CA where Combs was spotted by surveillance cameras beating former girlfriend Cassie Ventura in 2016. The CCTV video was leaked by CNN in 2024. Garcia said on the stand that the music producer asked him for the footage because it would otherwise "ruin him," per The Independent. Garcia testified that his boss offered it to Combs for $50,000. Per Garcia, the video was delivered to the performer in exchange for $100,00 via a paper bag. Garcia's boss reportedly had "to sign an NDA with a $1 million penalty." Combs is facing two charges of sex trafficking, two charges of transportation to engage in prostitution, and a racketeering conspiracy charge after federal investigators accused him of "kidnapping, drugging, and coercing women into sexual activities, sometimes using firearms or threats of violence" between 2004 and 2024, per the BBC. His trial, which began on May 12, is expected to last eight to 10 weeks. He faces life in prison for the racketeering charge alone. Combs has continued to maintain his innocence to the charges, but he apologized for his behavior after the Ventura clip surfaced. "I take full responsibility for my actions in that video," Combs said in a now-deleted Instagram statement in May 2024. "I was disgusted then when I did it. I'm disgusted now."Woman Kicked out of Courtroom for What She Yelled at Sean 'Diddy' Combs first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 3, 2025

Woman strategically keeps track of dating app matches for this one reason: ‘I lowkey need this'

In today's wild digital dating world — sitting back and endlessly swiping will only get you so far. That's why Caitlin Trask, 32, decided to go the extra mile by creating a 'man catalog' to track all the hopeful men she matches with on dating apps — for research. 'Sorry I can't go out tonight, I have 513 men I have to document in my man catalog,' the hopeless romantic is heard saying in a TikTok video she posted, teasing her method. Advertisement Trask is strategic with her dating tactics. Although she lives in Denver, Colorado, she purposely changes her location on the apps to various cities to see which loverboys she will match with. Once she receives that anticipated notification — she goes into her Excel spreadsheet to add her connection's age, height, city they live in, job, religion and political stance. Advertisement While this sounds like a crazy amount of work that some people would roll their eyes at — Trask told People her reasoning for organizing these potential suitors is to see which city has the highest chances of her finding someone she is compatible with. This woman's spreadsheets caught many people's attention online. TikTok/@caitlintrask 'Most guys that I am finding are my usual type, which means they have curly hair, good smiles and interesting prompts in their profile,' she told the outlet. 'Someone who it seems like I could have a fun conversation with is what I'm generally finding.' Advertisement Clearly, she's a data girl because she told People that she enjoys analyzing her findings to uncover patterns in her dating preferences — like the fact that her type in Boston, Massachusetts, are guys over 6 feet 2 inches. 'The ultimate goal is to visit the places where I find there seem to be the most single men that I'm aligned with, and visit there and see if anything comes of it,' Trask said in the interview. Instagram/@caitlintrask Trask's research struck a chord with many people online. Advertisement 'Women in stem collecting data,' joked one commenter. 'I kept a dating/romance diary all of last year and it was SOOOO helpful in being able to go back and know why these men were horrible people lol,' someone chimed in, agreeing with Trask's extra efforts. 'I lowkey need this,' quipped someone else. And of course, there were some naysayers. 'We spend way too much time thinking about men. They can't even be bothered to read our profiles. Enough,' read a comment. 'Major red flag on so many levels btw,' another commenter wrote.
