Pahang Sultan urges swift aid for Temerloh storm victims
The Sultan said only RM300 from the district disaster fund had been distributed so far, with a remaining RM700 still pending.
"I hope this can be channelled soon. The RM5,000 repair assistance should also be expedited," he said after visiting and extending aid to the affected residents on Friday (June 13).
The assistance was also delivered by Tengku Panglima Raja Brig Jen Tengku Amir Nasser Ibrahim Shah and Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri'ayatuddin Shah.
Al-Sultan Abdullah also expressed sympathy to those affected, noting that the disaster struck just three days after Hari Raya Aidiladha.
"It is painful not to be able to celebrate Aidiladha properly, but this is Allah's will. Every hardship has its wisdom and we must remain patient," he said.
The storm damaged 210 homes across four mukims namely Perak 2, Bangau, Mentakab 1 and Mentakab 2.
The Sultan also extended condolences to the families of two teenage girls killed in a road accident in Temerloh on June 11.
In a separate remark, the Sultan warned against following teachings that have been declared deviant by the Pahang Mufti Department, particularly the Ahmadiah sect.
"Why are there still people trying to spread this? We must hold firm to the teachings of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaah. This is what we've inherited from our elders and what the majority of Malaysians believe in," he said. - Bernama

Perak padi farmers can apply for aid without official disaster declaration
TAIPING: Perak padi farmers facing threats from drought, floods, or storms, no longer need to wait for an official disaster declaration, before applying for assistance under the Padi Crop Disaster Fund. State Department of Agriculture director Norsiyenti Othman advised farmers to go to the Integrated Agricultural Development Area Integration (IADA) Kerian office, or the nearest Department of Agriculture office, take photographs of the damaged fields and also file a police report, before submitting the documents to IADA or Agriculture Department officers for processing. "This process must be done within three months from the first day of the disaster. "If it exceeds three months, we won't be able to process it. "So far, the state government has approved an allocation of about RM740,000 for road upgrading works at the centre. Storm wreaks havoc in Skudai, more than 20 houses damaged
JOHOR BARU: More than 20 houses in Skudai here were damaged when a storm packing strong winds tore through several neighbourhoods on Sunday afternoon. The 2pm storm hit Taman Harmoni 1, Taman Sri Skudai, Kampung Poh Chee Leng, Taman Sri Puteri and Kampung Laut. It was accompanied by heavy rain lasting nearly an hour. Marketing executive Pua Wei Liang, 29, said the storm ripped off the roof and timber structures of his family home in Kampung Poh Chee Leng. "This is the first time such a strong storm has hit our village in the 50 years that we have lived here. "The wind was so strong it sent my roof, with its wooden beams, flying 30 metres before slamming into my neighbour's car," he said, adding that rainwater poured into the house, damaging furniture, electrical appliances and mattresses. Wei Liang estimated repair costs at nearly RM10,000 as the damage involved the entire roof structure, ceiling and electrical wiring. Another victim, Ku Yuh Hong, 33, said the storm ripped away part of her living room roof and smashed her father's car window when timber debris from a neighbour's house struck it. Skudai assemblyman Marina Ibrahim said her office was compiling reports from victims to facilitate disaster relief claims.
