So far it's been a year full of love, with many A-listers getting snagged off the market by their partners and walking down the aisle.
Stars like media personality Ayanda Thabethe (now Matsimba), actress Ntando Duma (now Rambani) and former Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi gave us a glimpse into their fairytale weddings.
Others like reigning Miss South Africa Mia le Roux and international stars like singer Coco Jones have also just had their partners pop the question and, of course, symbol their love with a stunning ring.

Your engagement ring will (hopefully) stay with you for the rest of your life, so asking yourself the right questions is key to choosing a ring you're fall and stay in love with.
'Do you want a standout solo stone? Are you intrigued by antique styles? Or maybe into a design that feels a bit more unique? Once you've nailed the general vibe of your ideal wedding ring, that can help you narrow in on what appeals to you specifically', Stone and Strand jewellery store founder Nadine Kahane tells Refinery29.

Oval shapes
Oval shapes are still just as popular. While oval diamonds are typically set in a vertical direction like Ayanda's, stars like actor Zendaya have experimented with the rare horizontal setting, enhancing the natural beauty of the stone.

The art of colour
The art of experimenting with unconventionally coloured stones has become the driving force behind self-expression and individuality when choosing an engagement ring.

Kgomotso Christopher and Prince Grootboom dive into Fatal Seduction S2's emotional storm
The second season of Fatal Seduction kicks off with Kgomotso Christopher's Nandi in jail and Prince Grootboom's Jacob seeking justice for his father. Kgomotso paints a parallel between her character and the incarcerated doctor Nandipha Magudumana. Kgomotso and Prince are intentional about 'washing off' their characters after shooting charged scenes. Lust, betrayal and a political conspiracy are what TV lovers are in store for from the second season of the local Netflix thriller series Fatal Seduction. Season two kicks right off from the end of the first season, where viewers first met law professor Nandi Mahlati, played by seasoned actress Kgomotso Christopher, cheats on her husband and judge Leonard Mahlati (played by Thapelo Mokoena) and fall into a dangerous love affair with the mysterious Jacob Tau, played by Prince Grootboom. Nandi is now a convicted felon, embroiled in a murderous coverup with the treacherous and lustful Minister Vilakazi played by Warren Masemola, and has to do everything she can to protect her family. Prince's character Jacob is still on a mission to clear his late father's name, finding himself diving deeper into the corrupt world and expose Minister Vilikazi by getting hot and heavy with the minister's fiercely loyal assistant, Nqobile Khumalo's Precious. Both Kgomotso and Prince dive into the 'explosive and loaded series' with TRUELOVE, going into detail about their controversial characters and the decisions that shape them. From esteemed lecturer to jailbird, Kgomotso says viewers will look forward to 'seeing the transition of Nandi being the soft and gentle Nandi fighting her way through to obviously ending up in prison ultimately, and having to find a way to survive and we see, what I would call, the survival-instinct Nandi when we see her in the prison life. And I think because of where we leave them, of course we leave Jacob and Nandi separated by prison.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by Netflix South Africa (@netflixsa) Balancing the controversial with the relatable This season, both Nandi and Jacob make controversial decisions to get what they want. Kgomotso highlights an interesting parallel to Nandi's character with now-disgraced and incarcerated medical doctor Nandipha Magudumana, who was found to be harbouring the escaped convict and 'Facebook rapist' Thabo Bester. '[Nandi and Jacob are] not one dimensional. They're exactly who we are as humans. We make mistakes. We try to clean up those mistakes. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. In Nandi's case we've seen – and it's no pun intended and it's a coincidence with the current situation with Nandi Magudumana in prison where all she ever did, Nandi, was just to fall in love with someone. And whether it's art imitating life or life imitating art, you make one small decision and it just ruins your life.' Prince echoes Kgomotso's sentiment and says, 'I think what was much easier is that the writers made it easy for us to portray these characters.' Immersing themselves in emotionally charged scenes and the aftermath This season of Fatal Seduction shows even more skin, sex and salacious behaviour, making it all the more important for the actors to be intentional about leaving their characters at the door once they're done shooting. 'There's this thing that one of our intimacy coaches used to do with us ... You pretend that you are under a shower and you are washing the character off you. I think that for me, that was the best way of unwinding after an emotional, crazy, crazy day on set,' Prince says. Kgomotso agrees wholeheartedly and shares that 'I think what we always try to put out there to our audience is that we are supported by incredible crew and part of the crew includes intimacy coaches and they are actually there to make sure we step in and step out of character, especially in those types of emotionally intense scenes, physically intense scenes and so they have exercises they give us. 'So, I was going to mention exactly what Prince is saying. It's quite helpful, especially because we have very long days. Sometimes you're jumping in from that type of emotionally, sexually, physically charged scene to a completely different scene and you've got to be able to move from emotional state to emotional state very, very quickly. And, honestly, credit to our intimacy coaches for giving us the tools on set on and off set.'

Former Uzalo actor Glen Gabela pleads for work opportunities amidst financial struggles
We see them on television and assume that they have everything going for them. However, the reality in South Africa is that several veteran actors and actresses are coming forward to share their financial struggles and seeking support. Glen Gabela is yet another great actor who is pleading for work opportunities. His outcry has sparked a broader conversation about the film industry. People are debating what's behind these struggles: poor personal financial decisions, or systemic industry problems like underpaying stars. Read more | 'Muvhango wasn't just a show, it was us' - Actress Masutang reflects as soapie ends In a viral video posted all over social media, the legendary Gabela, known for his roles in the 'Shaka Zulu' series and the popular SABC 1 soapie 'Uzalo,' where he played Pastor Mdletshe, is seen tearfully pleading for help, showcasing his difficult living conditions, including a nearly empty fridge with only bottles of water. He reveals in the video that he's struggling to make ends meet and to survive after years of unemployment. 'I just want a decent life, like everyone else. That's why I'm reaching out. I want to engage with people and help grow the film industry, so upcoming performers don't end up like us. I want their lives to be better, and I don't want them to face the same struggles we do,' he said. He added that 'All veteran actors, when they pass, you hear about how they struggled. Almost all of us, by the time we reach this age, we become beggars. It's painful for me, because begging is very difficult for me; I just need help to live a decent life. I don't need to be rich.' Glen Gabela (uMfundisi uMdletshe's) living situation broke my heart. Glen was hospitalised after suffering from a heart... Posted by Thulile Gambushe on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 In March, Glen was a guest on the 'Voice with Palesa' podcast hosted by Palesa Madisakwane, and he spoke about his job loss from 'Uzalo,' his financial struggles, and his strained relationship with his daughter. On the podcast, Glen revealed that for Shaka Zulu, he only got paid R7000 instead of the R40 000 he was promised. He mentioned that losing his job on Uzalo due to a breach of contract led to a series of devastating events, including his bank accounts being frozen, his car being repossessed, his apartment being locked, and his daughter becoming distant. He also claimed that the reason behind his contract termination was that the writers had run out of ideas for the character, despite the initial agreement being that Pastor Mdletshe would be one of the permanent cast members. 'I don't care even if they'd call me back at Uzalo, I will never work with them again. It messed up my life. When they breached that contract, my life went all the way. My bank froze all my accounts, the car I had with a loan from the West Bank got repossessed, and my apartment was locked with everything I had. And the last time I saw my daughter was in 2018,' he said. Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie has since promised to reach out to him after being tagged on X (formerly Twitter) asked to intervene. 'Thanks, will follow up and revert back today. This is extremely sad,' he re-tweeted the post. Thanks, will follow up and revert back today. This is extremely sad. — Gayton McKenzie (@GaytonMcK) August 14, 2025

Lainey Wilson previews 'Whirlwind' deluxe album as tour kicks off
Lainey Wilson is giving fans a taste of her newest music. In a video posted to social media this week, the singer treated followers to a porch-side performance of "Peace, Love, and Cowboys," a country-western anthem with hippie sensibilities. Clad in a large tan Stetson hat and '70s-inspired shades, Wilson strummed out several verses from the song, which is expected to be featured on the deluxe version of her "Whirlwind" album out later this month. "Westerns and whiskey, horses and hippies, we need more peace, love and cowboys / Long hair and Stetsons, barbed wire and blessings, we need more peace, love and cowboys," she crooned, drawing up imagery of a dusty, wild-west, but injecting a folk music sound. A post shared by Lainey Wilson (@laineywilson) Lainey Wilson inducted into the Grand Ole Opry by Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood "We need more peace, love and cowboys ✌🏼🤠 #WhirlwindDeluxe #PeaceLoveAndCowboys," she captioned the post, which was immediately flooded with fan comments hungry for the deluxe album to drop.
