Doyle could miss rest of season- Thorup

BBC News29-03-2025

An injury to left-back Callum Doyle forced a tactical rethink by Norwich boss Johannes Hoff Thorup, which paid off with a dramatic 1-0 win over West Brom.Doyle missed the game with a calf problem and the Dane opted for a back five instead of a four, with Kellen Fisher deputising down the left."Knowing that we will be without a left-back for probably the rest of the season was one of the reasons behind the different approach because last time we played against West Brom, (Tom) Fellows on the right side created problems for us," Thorup told BBC Radio Norfolk."When you decide to have a five in the backline instead of four, you probably lose a bit of intensity in the first line of your pressing game and that's what we had to accept and do what it takes to be compact as a team."At the end of the day, everyone just wants to see us win so we do what is necessary. Is it my favourite kind of football? No, 100% not - but I'm not that stubborn, not to do once in a while what it takes to get a result."Asked about Doyle's injury, Thorup replied: "He's still with us, he's doing his rehab with us but he felt some pain after the Bristol (City) game and we scanned it and could see it was a calf injury."It's probably three to five weeks - if we are optimistic and it's three, then we can use him (again this season), but if it's the opposite, then his season can be over."Norwich are next in action away to Plymouth Argyle next Saturday.

Peter Schmeichel's new Playboy model wife after Man Utd legend's difficult announcement

Peter Schmeichel's new Playboy model wife after Man Utd legend's difficult announcement Peter Schmeichel is back on UK TV screens this weekend as part of Soccer Aid, with the former goalkeeper trading his gloves for a tactics board as manager of the World XI Peter Schmeichel divorced first wife Bente in 2013 (Image: Corbis via Getty Images ) Manchester United icon Peter Schmeichel is no stranger to an eye-catching transfer having joined their neighbours Manchester City. The treble-winning shot stopper enjoyed huge success with the Red Devils, establishing himself as one of the greatest goalkeepers of all-time. But he departed after their famous 1999 Champions League triumph, a decision he's since admitted was a mistake. ‌ His subsequent move to City in 2002 also raised eyebrows, with Gary Neville memorably snubbing him in the tunnel when the two sides met. But both return to Old Trafford for Soccer Aid this weekend with any wounds long healed. ‌ Neville is part of the England squad set to take on the World XI, who Schmeichel will be managing. The Dane, 61, will be back in familiar surroundings at the Theatre of Dreams, but it'll be a different woman cheering him on than the one he was married to during his playing career. Why did Peter Schmeichel get a divorce? Schmeichel met his wife Bente when they were just teenagers. They married young and went on to have two children together - daughter Cecile, and his more well-known offspring, son Kasper. He followed in his father's footsteps, going on to miraculously win the Premier League with Leicester City in 2016. But by that point, his parents had split up. Article continues below Schmeichel announced in 2013: "After 31 years of living together, I am sorry to have to inform you that Bente and I'm in the process of separation negotiations. The pair had been married 31 years (Image: UK Press via Getty Images ) "It has been a very difficult decision, but in the circumstances we feel good. We agree that our family has the highest priority, and we hope that the media will respect our privacy, and that we have no further comment." ‌ He didn't disclose the reasons for their split, but it was believed to be a mutual decision after their relationship grew strained. It didn't take long for Schmeichel to find love again. Who is Peter Schmeichel married to? A year later he began dating Laura von Lindholm, a former Playboy model turned nutritionist who's nine years his junior. 'I met Laura in a period where I was making changes in my life,' he told BBC's Desert Island Discs. Schmeichel is now married to former model Laura von Lindholm (Image: Adam Davy/PA Wire ) ‌ 'I fell in love and we had a little getaway in London and I didn't want the public to know that I was in a new relationship. I wanted to keep a low profile so I was wearing a scarf and a hat and everything. "And Laura's looking at me and she's saying, 'How famous are you?' Laura didn't know anything about football and she's kind of ridiculing me a little bit.' She soon realised the scale of his fame when a group of builders saw through Schmeichel's disguise and shouted out his name. He continued: 'And then we go to the Champions League final in Milan and this little guy comes up to me. ‌ After a period of separation, they reunited and wed (Image: Instagram/lvonl ) "I've never met him in my life, but I know it's Phil Collins. I never met him but he's a big Man U fan… And Laura is next to me and she's completely, I mean she's completely, gobsmacked." However, it wasn't plain sailing for his second serious relationship either, as he and Laura broke up in 2017 before rekindling and swiftly deciding to tie the knot, getting married later in 2019. It took place in front of 200 guests at the Egebaeksvang Church in Espergaerde, Copenhagen. Article continues below Schmeichel has a house in the town, although he's often on location around Europe for CBS Sports' Champions League coverage. And he's been back in England this week gearing up for Soccer Aid and whipping his World XI squad into shape.

Hojlund, 22, and Zirkzee, 24, moved to United for hefty fees worth a whopping £72million and £36.5m respectively but both have failed to live up to expectations so far. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 4 Manchester United have decided to hold on to Joshua Zirkzee over Rasmus Hojlund 4 Man Utd could keep Zirkzee and sell Hojlund, with Inter Milan interested Thus, the two strikers have been linked with moves away from Man Utd amid manager Ruben Amorim's planned summer squad overhaul. According to Corriere dello Sport, however, the Red Devils have decided to hold on to Zirkzee. This comes amid intense interest from Inter Milan for Hojlund, whom the Manchester giants are open to selling this summer. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter are so keen on the Denmark international they are set to go "full speed ahead" for his signature. The two Italian sources claim United are much more interested in a permanent deal. And Amorim's side value the Dane at around £34-38m this summer. Inter prefer a loan deal with a purchase clause which is almost an obligation to buy in 2026. The Nerazzurri's offer would also include a hefty loan fee for the initial year. BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK United are not in a hurry to sell Hojlund as his contract runs until 2028. Inter feel like that could work to their advantage as they can wait until the Red Devils sign a new striker. Paul Scholes says Man Utd must keep Rasmus Hojlund and reveals how to get the best out of him Man Utd are keeping tabs on the likes of Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres and Napoli's Victor Osimhen. And if the Premier League giants manage to get a new centre-forward, who will almost certainly command a high transfer fee as well as expensive wages, then they might have to make room in the squad and salary bill. Hojlund is keen to move to Inter with the Serie A giants' officials working on a potential deal from the US, where the club is taking part in the Club World Cup. There's already been an initial meeting in Milan and another via intermediaries is expected to take place in the coming days. 4
