Stephon Gilmore's shocking admission on college recruitment

New England Patriots legend Stephon Gilmore never played a snap on defense until his first year of college football at the University of South Carolina. Gilmore played at the quarterback position throughout high school, but when he had an opportunity to play in the defensive backfield at camps, he would shut everybody down. Perhaps it was fate's way of letting him know that he was playing in the wrong position. That didn't stop Steve Spurrier, who was the head coach at South Carolina at the time, from trying to recruit him to play on the offensive side of the ball. "It was crazy because I played quarterback in high school. I didn't play no defense at all," Gilmore said on The Money Down Podcast. "I was a guy recruited as an athlete. Spurrier recruited me. He was like, 'Man, you should play receiver.' I'm like, 'Man, I don't want to play receiver.' My dad was like, 'Man, you're a corner. Just play corner.' Because I used to go to camps and shut everybody down, and I had never played corner." Spurrier never gave up on the dream of Gilmore playing on offense and even dialed up a few plays for him. However, once Gilmore started playing cornerback at the collegiate level, he never looked back. He earned the starting job right out of the gate and developed into one of the best players in the country. That ultimately led to an incredibly successful NFL career with a Super Bowl win, Defensive MVP, two First-Team All-Pro nods and five Pro Bowls. It's safe to say the move to corner was the right choice. Follow Patriots Wire on Twitter and Facebook.

Woman with 'world's biggest lips' in agonising pain – but doctors won't treat her

Andrea Ivanova, 28, has spent more than £20,000 on cosmetic procedures to get her lips to the biggest size possible - and it's come at a cost, with her now in agonising pain Andrea Ivanova has embarked on an unrelenting quest to secure the title for having the "world's biggest lips", consistently seeking out filler injections despite being warned of the risks. Her dedication comes at a price, though. Not only has she invested over £20,000 in her pout, the 28-year-old has also encountered health challenges. Healthcare professionals have cautioned that the monthly injections might be lethal, yet Andrea continues undeterred, even as some practitioners now decline to administer treatment. After damaging a tooth on a hazelnut chocolate bar and suffering "excruciating" discomfort, Andrea met with frustration. She recounted: "It's made me feel terrible. Both dentists didn't give a specific explanation. ‌ "They just said they didn't want to work on my tooth given that I have such big lips. It's clear they feel disgust and notes of mockery towards me." ‌ The assistant nurse, who broke the tooth a month prior, expressed her "extreme disappointment" in the dental professionals' attitudes. She elaborated: "I don't know how they can refuse [me] just because of my huge lips. I find their behaviour toward me extremely disrespectful. "I have to look for a new dentist that will treat me and hopefully I won't have to go abroad." With plans to travel to Venice in two weeks, Andrea worries she might not get her tooth repaired in time, claiming that two local dentists in Sofia, Bulgaria, have already denied her service. She remembered: "When I warned them over the phone after making the appointment that I had bigger lips, they said there was no problem. But on the day, he and the assistant nurse looked at me strangely." ‌ Andrea went on: "He told me: 'I'm sorry, but I can't treat your tooth. Your lips are too big and it will interfere with my work.' "He hadn't even tried to help. I just got up and left – if I stayed, there would have been some unpleasant remarks. "The second dentist flat out told me: 'You have huge lips and I can't guarantee your safety or accept you in this form.' They're not professionals [if you ask me]." ‌ Andrea is running out of local options due to what she perceives as sheer "stupidity." However, some believe she is responsible for her extreme fillers. ‌ Her family have expressed their concern in the past – pleading with her to avoid plastic surgery – but the lip-enhanced woman remains unfazed. She stated: "I'm an adult, I decide what to do with my body. My friends have no qualms about going out with me, despite my huge lips, and they accept me for who I am. "They are used to seeing me now with big lips, so are no longer impressed by it all. "But my parents and grandparents constantly tell me my lips are huge and that I look scary to them. I don't pay attention to their words."

Bengals' Zac Taylor drags Joe Burrow down in QB-coach NFL rankings

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is a top-five player at his position. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor, however, is not a top-five coach in the NFL right now. So says new rankings from Sports Illustrated's Matt Verderame, which aims to list the best quarterback-head coach duos in the NFL. Burrow and Taylor land just inside the top 10 at No. 9 overall: 'The Bengals might not have much defense, but they employ a good coach and a top-five quarterback. Burrow, the former No. 1 pick, had his best season in 2024, throwing for league-bests with 4,918 yards and 43 touchdowns to help Cincinnati stay in playoff contention until the final day. With Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins signed long-term, expect more fireworks for years to come.' RELATED: Cincinnati Bengals' 53-man roster projection following 2025 offseason The problem, as one should expect, is Taylor. Burrow is fourth in his respective rankings, while Taylor is 16th. It's a fair assessment, at least, as the debate continues as to whether Taylor should be on the hot seat and just how much leash the coaching staff should have on the goodwill of the recent Super Bowl appearance. For now, the Bengals will be more than happy to charge forward with a tandem that lands in the top 10 alongside the likes of Kansas City, no matter how lopsided the scale.
