Genesis Invitational honors Tiger Woods' late mother with flag tribute on 7th hole
The Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines features a touching tribute to Tiger Woods' late Mother, Kultida Woods, with a white flag on the 7th hole. Kultida passed away earlier this month at the age of 80.
Kutilda was born in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, and worked as a civilian secretary, performing clerical duties for the U.S. Army base during the Vietnam War. She met Earl Woods in 1966, married him in 1969, and subsequently moved to the United States. Kutilda and Earl had one child, Tiger (Eldrick) Woods.
Woods has consistently acknowledged his mother's vital role in his success. He has stated that her influence was critical in instilling a strong work ethic and motivating him to pursue his dreams and always called her his biggest fan.
'Nothing will ever be handed to you; everything must be earned. If you don't put in the work and effort, you won't achieve the results you want. More importantly, you won't deserve them. You need to earn it,' Woods reflects, sharing advice he received from his mother.
Here is how the Genesis Invitational is honoring Kutilda Woods.

The white flag at the 7th hole during the tournament honors Kultida's Buddhist faith, which Tiger Woods has said his mother instilled in him from a young age. In Buddhism, the number 7 symbolizes a complete cycle or a state of perfection, often associated with the 'Seven Factors of Enlightenment.' Additionally, the color white represents purity, enlightenment, and the absence of negativity.

Nike releases perfect ad to commemorate Scottie Scheffler's win at PGA Championship

Nike does it again. This time, with what might be a perfect ad to congratulate Scottie Scheffler for his 2025 PGA Championship. "Best player in the world? Guilty." That's all it says. That's all it needs to say. Advertisement Clearly, the guilty part is in reference to his arrest in Louisville a year ago during the PGA Championship. And as Golfweek's Adam Schupak wrote: "The world No. 1 went from locked up to locked in and at the tender age of 28 he joined Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus as just the third player to win three career majors and 15 PGA Tour titles. Tiger Woods' warning to US Open golfers as ‘horrible' Oakmont consequences loom

'There is no faking about Oakmont,' Woods said in a video he posted on Instagram. 'The golf course is big, yes, but it's just, there's no way around it. You just have to hit the golf ball well, and it favors longer hitters, just because of the degrees, the complexes.' The 125th U.S. Open, which tees off on Thursday, will take place at Oakmont Country Club in Pittsburgh. Advertisement Woods, who was certainly a long hitter but will not be competing in this year's edition, won the U.S. Open three times, though none came at Oakmont. 'It just helps so much to be coming with shorter iron, to be able to sock the ball,' Woods said. 'It's about missing the ball on correct spots … because if you don't, it's horrible!' Woods continues to rehab his torn Achilles he suffered in March. Scottie Scheffler, fresh off his PGA Championship win, is the heavy favorite to win. Bryson DeChambeau, whose average driving distance of 331.9 yards leads both the PGA and LIV Golf, is a two-time U.S. Open champion and won the tournament last year at Pinehurst.
