Bromyard sci-fi museum to auction Doctor Who and Red Dwarf props
The museum opened its doors in 2007 and closed in March when the owner, Andy Glazzard, decided to retire."We are naturally sorry to part with such a wonderful collection after so many years curating the items in our museum," he said. "But time goes on."About 85% of the 75 pieces in the museum are related to Doctor Who, which was first shown on BBC television more than 60 years ago.Among them are a Tardis used by Third Doctor Jon Pertwee in a fan-made serial thought to be one of his final filmed appearances.It has a starting estimate of £3,500.A reproduction of the Doctor's robotic dog, K9, dating from 2005, is listed at £1,500.A full-length cape worn by the Sixth Doctor, Colin Baker, is expected to fetch at least £740, as is a costume worn by companion Rose Tyler, played by Billie Piper.Also up for sale are an original model miniature of Starbug 1, the craft used by the crew of Red Dwarf in the series of the same name, and a costume worn by the robotic humanoid Kryten.
"This is a landmark auction for all Doctor Who, Star Trek and Red Dwarf fans (amongst others) and all those passionate about science fiction," said Alastair McCrea from Heritage Auctions."The breadth of the collection and the care taken to preserve it, makes it unprecedented and we anticipate huge interest from around the globe for these pieces.""We wish the successful bidders of our items all the best for the future, hoping that they will enjoy their purchases as much as we have," added Mr Glazzard.The sale is due to take place from 16-18 July.

Actor Larry Lamb to share war poems at Hereford festival
Actor Larry Lamb said headlining the UK's first Military History Festival would allow him to read war poetry he has loved since is to share poetry and anecdotes at College Hall, Hereford Cathedral, on 27 September, the second day of the three-day said his father was "mad keen" on poetry and read to him from anthologies after surviving World War Two."He would read me poems that really appealed to him and they kind of stuck," Lamb said. Strictly Come Dancing has announced six celebrities who will be hitting the ballroom later this year, but one in particular has excited professional dancer Dianne Buswell Strictly Come Dancing's Dianne Buswel l has branded a 2025 contestant 'extremely cool' as Doctor Who enthusiasts were left 'screaming' following a major announcement. With mere weeks remaining before the annual BBC programme kicks off, the initial quartet of celebrities were unveiled on Monday (August 11). The opening reveal caught supporters off guard as Harry Aikines-Aryeetey was disclosed during an instalment of children's news show Newsround. Known as Nitro, Harry is most famous for taking part in the Bradley and Barney Walsh edition of Gladiators. Additionally, Harry is a multiple gold medal-winning Team GB sprinter, who became the first competitor to secure gold medals in both 100 and 200 metres at the World Youth Championships. "After the Christmas Special, it was so nice I just had to do it twice! I'm so excited to be part of the Strictly family this series and I'm ready to give it all I've got. I'll be bringing tons of energy to light up the dance floor. Let's hope I'm as quick picking up the routines as I am on the track," he said.
