Sr cop starts free online platform to help engg & medical aspirants

1 2 Ranchi: Medical and engineering aspirants who are unable to join expensive coaching classes can now receive free and high-quality guidance in physics and mathematics — considered the two toughest subjects of entrance examinations — through an online platform. Thanks to DIG of the state criminal investigation department, Chandan Kumar Jha, who with his friend Ajit Kumar, both graduates from the National Institute of Technology Calicut, have recently rolled out a digital initiative on YouTube titled EduCop — Education and Cop to coach the aspirants. Within days of its launch, around 1,500 students joined the YouTube channel. Jha and Kumar are uploading one video each on mathematics and physics respectively every day except for Sundays. Besides, they have also launched WhatsApp and Telegram channels to provide study materials, homework, and access to recorded sessions. Jha, who also cracked the Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination and the Combined Aptitude Test before qualifying as an IPS officer in 2011, said, "Since my posting as SP Gumla in 2017, I started teaching students whenever I could manage a few hours. The exercise continued during my postings in other districts like Bokaro. The online platform is aimed at reaching out to the maximum number of students. Our focus is mainly on economically weaker sections of society so that no dream is lost for lack of resources." Jha said that every day after returning from the office, he brushes up on a topic with self-study and then uploads a video lecture on EduCop. He said that the channel encourages interactive learning, allowing students to post queries in the comments section or email their doubts. "Each video is accompanied by assignments for reinforcement of concepts," he said. Notably, Jha's friend Kumar has 11 years of teaching experience. Their educational initiative is also aimed at preparing students for NDA and various state-level engineering entrance examinations, he said. This time she achieved an All India Rank (AIR) of 105. Divya got a total of 994 marks, consisting of 834 mark in the written exam and 160 marks in the personality test in the UPSC Civil Services (MAIN) Examination, 2022.
