Olympic triathlete to be guest at sports awards
The 30-year-old from Manchester, who secured medals at both the Paris and Tokyo Olympics in 2024 and 2020 respectively, said she was "really excited" to be invited.
Taylor-Brown said: "I can't wait to meet the athletes and immerse myself in the island's sporting culture for a few days."
Tour de France star Sir Mark Cavendish, Olympic equestrian Yasmin Ingham and Wimbledon debutant Billy Harris are among those nominated for awards.
Taylor-Brown won a bronze medal in the mixed team relay for Great Britain at last summer's Paris Olympics.
She also secured a silver medal in the individual triathlon at the Tokyo 2020 games, as well as a team gold in the mixed relay.
And she is a former Triathlon World champion and Commonwealth Games medallist.
Ahead of the ceremony, she said: "It will be my first visit to the Isle of Man, but I am well aware of the island's deep sporting roots."
There are 14 nominees across the 11 award categories, including Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year, and Disability Sportsperson of the Year.
Education, Sport and Culture Minister Daphne Caine said she was "delighted" the triathlete had accepted the invitation.
"I am confident that everyone attending will gain valuable insights from her dedication, resilience, and success," she added.

CINCINNATI -- Third-ranked Iga Swiatek captured the Cincinnati Open title for the first time by defeating No. 7 Jasmine Paolini 7-5, 6-4 on Monday night. Swiatek had failed to advance past the semifinals in her six previous appearances at the Cincinnati Open. She reached the semifinals in Cincinnati each of the past two years, but lost to eventual champions Coco Gauff in 2023 and Aryna Sabalenka in 2024. 'It means a lot to me,' Swiatek said. 'This year I really wanted it. I'm just very happy. It's nice to check off the list another tournament that I haven't won. I have friends here. It's a nice, relaxed tournament before New York." Swiatek has won all six meetings against the Italian, dropping only one set in those matches. Paolini jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first set but Swiatek roared back to go ahead 5-3. Paolini broke serve to get even at 5-5, but Swiatek closed out a first-set victory in 56 minutes. Swiatek's eighth ace of the match gave her a 5-3 lead in the second set. Paolini broke serve twice in the second set and was within 5-4, but Swiatek was able to serve out the match for her 24th career singles title. 'This season hasn't been easy," Swiatek said. 'I've had areas to improve. It's not easy to win tournaments when everyone is expecting you to.' Swiatek had seven double faults to two for Paolini. But she also had nine aces, while Paolini had none. 'When the rallies were going, I felt good on the court,' Paolini said. 'The serves were the difference. When she needed an ace, she hit an ace.' Paolini is the first Italian woman to reach the finals in Cincinnati. Since she was a qualifier at the Cincinnati Open in 2023, Paolini has reached two Grand Slam singles finals, won a Grand Slam doubles title and an Olympic gold medal. 'It was definitely a positive tournament for me,' Paolini said. 'It wasn't enough, of course. I just need to improve.' The Cincinnati Open is considered a tuneup for the U.S. Open, which begins Sunday in New York. The last two years, both the men's and women's Cincinnati Open champions went on to win the final Grand Slam tournament of the year. ___

USA Hockey Invites 44 NHL Players To Olympic Orientation Camp: Full List
USA Hockey announced 44 players will head to the U.S. men's Olympic orientation camp in Plymouth, Mich. The camp, scheduled for Aug. 26 and 27, is mainly for administrative and team-building purposes and does not feature any formal on-ice activity or public component. All but one of Team USA's players at the 4 Nations Face-Off will attend after finishing second in that tournament. Matthew Tkachuk will not attend, but a player does not have to be at the orientation camp to be on the final Olympic roster, USA Hockey said. Tkachuk was already one of six players named to Team USA, with the others being Jack Eichel, Auston Matthews, Brady Tkachuk, Quinn Hughes and Charlie McAvoy. Only five of the invitees have played in the Olympics before. Patrick Kane was at the 2010 and 2014 Olympics, while Ryan McDonagh was on the 2014 team. Brock Faber, Matthew Knies and Jake Sanderson were college hockey players on Team USA at the 2022 Olympics, which did not feature NHLers. After the Americans won gold at the IIHF men's World Championship for the first time in 92 years, 12 players from that squad are part of the orientation camp as well.
