The firm has declined to make any official statement on potential plans.
But, sources claimed moving production to the US was being discussed.
This would put 1,300 jobs at risk if plans were to go ahead.
It emerges after production in Hethel was temporarily suspended due to the tariffs on cars being imported to the US.
The hikes meant business with the States was at risk, with American sellers required to pay taxes of 25% on imports of cars and car parts.
In fact, exports to the US have halved since Trump's tariffs were introduced, figures revealed.
This comes after the firm warned it is being forced to make more cuts, after scrapping hundreds of jobs.
Lotus again blamed the "volatility" caused by Donald Trump's trade tariffs for the cuts.
The luxury sports car company announced the cuts despite the fact it has almost doubled sales over the last year.
The motorcar firm recorded 12,134 sales in the 2024 financial year, a 74% increase on the 6970 sales made the previous year.

However, Lotus made just £21.7m in gross profit, a significant decrease on the £76.3 million it made the previous year.
Chief financial officer Daxue Wang blamed the decrease in profits on the impact of worldwide tariffs and "global trade uncertainties."
He added that Lotus, which will become one company when the sports car division merges with the Chinese electric car division, will be forced to undergo "strategic cost optimisation to improve profitability."
'As we progress with the acquisition of Lotus UK, we are committed to driving cost streamlining and operational enhancements across all markets to continuously deliver long-term value,' Mr Wang said.
The beginning of these cost-cutting measures was announced last month, when the manufacturer announced that it would be cutting 270 jobs.
The brand promised it was "committed to the UK" despite the cuts, but this has done little to ease fears.
A spokesperson said: "The proposed restructuring is vital to enhance our competitiveness in today's market.
"Lotus Cars has announced a proposed business restructure to ensure sustainable operations, amid volatile and evolving market conditions including the US tariffs and shifting consumer demand for sports cars.
"The company plans to increase synergies across the wider Lotus brand and with its largest shareholder and technology partner, Geely Holding Group.
"It will look at greater resource sharing and collaboration in technology, engineering, and operations."
Days after the job cuts were announced, Lotus' current owner Geely International, triggered a 2023 agreement to force Lotus Technology Inc to buy back 51 per cent of Lotus Advanced Technologies.
Currently Geely owns 51 per cent of Lotus, with the other 49 percent owned by Malaysian group Etika Automotive.
Qingfeng Feng, Senior Vice President of Geely Holding Group and CEO of Group Lotus, said: "This acquisition marks a critical milestone in our strategic journey to fully integrate all businesses under the Lotus brand.
"It will strengthen brand equity and enhance our operational flexibility and internal synergies.
"We are confident that the transaction will create substantial long-term value for our shareholders."
Donald Trump's introduction of 25 percent tariffs on car imports to the US has heaped huge pressure on car brands.
The UK sends one sixth of all of the cars it builds each year to the US.
These include luxe models from car brands such as Aston Martin, Rolls Royce and Land Rover.
Sales to the US amount to about 100,000 a year, with a worth of around £8 billion.
Trump has claimed that the import tax for cars, which came into play on April 2, would lead to "tremendous growth" for the industry.
However, experts say it will likely lead to a temporary shutdown of significant production in the US and strain relations with other countries.

Executives said that Trump's import taxes have 'led us not to be able to export many vehicles to the US market'. Sources cautioned that no final decision had been taken about the Hethel works, which employs 1,300 people. If confirmed, however, the closure would mark a major blow to the UK's carmaking sector, which the government has made a priority during trade negotiations with the White House. MILLIONS of workers will be hit with higher tax bills in the coming years as frozen thresholds will force them to hand over more of their earnings to the taxman. The higher rate tax band is frozen at £50,270, which means any earnings over this amount are taxed at 40%. Meanwhile, the additional tax band is currently fixed at £125,140, beyond which any earnings are taxed at 45%. But there are things you can do to prevent a surprise tax bill from landing on your doorstep. Here we explain how you can reduce your tax bill and avoid the tax trap. Apply for tax relief One way to reduce your tax bill is to claim tax relief. You can claim the relief on your job expenses, which means you will take home more of your income and pay less tax. To be eligible you must use your own money for things that you need to buy for your job and you only use for work. You can claim for items including working from home, uniforms, work clothes, tools, vehicles you use for work, travel and overnight costs. You cannot claim tax relief if your employer gives you all the money back or alternative equipment. You will get the relief based on what you have spent and the rate at which you pay tax. For example, if you claim £60 of tax relief and usually pay tax at 20% then you will get £12 back. The exact amount you could get depends on what you are claiming for. Marriage Allowance is a special tax rule that lets you transfer £1,260 of your Personal Allowance to your husband, wife or civil partner. Your income must be below £12,570 and your partner must pay Income Tax at the basic rate, which usually means their income must be between £12,571 and £50,270. Ian Futcher, financial planner at Quilter, said: 'Many eligible couples haven't claimed this, often because they simply don't realise it exists. 'It can be backdated for up to four years if you're eligible.' The fastest way to apply for the allowance is online and you should get an email confirming your application within 24 hours. You can also claim Marriage Allowance by post using the MATCF form. For more information visit Make use of salary sacrifice Salary sacrifice is a great way to top up your income without paying any tax. It lets you exchange some of your wages for a different benefit from your employer, such as a company car, childcare vouchers or pension contributions. Your salary is then reduced by the cost of any benefits you choose. As your salary is lower, you will pay less tax and National Insurance. For example, someone who earns the UK average salary of £37,430 could decide to sacrifice £200 a month into their pension. Over the course of a year they would pay £2,400 into their pension. By using salary sacrifice their wage would fall to £35,030 a year, which would save them around £480 a year in Income Tax. They would also save nearly £200 in National Insurance, which means their total saving would be £672. Salary sacrifice also saves your employer money on National Insurance. Many employers will pass this saving on to you by paying more money into your pension. As a result, your total pension contribution could be more than £2,700. Sarah Coles, head of personal finance at Hargreaves Lansdown, said it is worth checking if your employer offers salary sacrifice. She said: 'It will not boost your take-home pay, but it will cut your tax bill and make your money go further.' Pay into pension If you are lucky enough to earn more than £60,000 a year then you may be able to get more Child Benefit with an under-used trick. Child Benefit is paid by the government to parents or other people who are responsible for bringing up a child. It is currently worth £26.05 for the eldest or only child and £17.25 for every additional child you have. You get this full payment if you earn less than £60,000 a year. But beyond this point you need to start paying the benefit back at a rate of 1% for every extra £200 you earn. The payment disappears entirely once you earn more than £80,000 a year. But you may be able to hang on to more of your Child Benefit with a simple trick, Ian Futcher explains. He said: 'If your earnings are close to the threshold, using pension contributions or salary sacrifice to reduce your taxable income could allow you to keep more of your Child Benefit.' To be clear, Coco Gauff didn't bring up the word 'star' during a recent interview with The Associated Press; the reporter did. So as Gauff began to answer a question about balancing her life as a professional athlete with her off-court interests, she caught herself repeating that term. 'I definitely didn't know how it would look like,' she began with a smile, 'before I got to be, I guess, a star — feels weird to call myself that — but I definitely did want to expand outside of tennis. Always. Since I was young.' She still is young, by just about any measure, and she is a really good tennis player — Gauff owns the Grand Slam titles and No. 2 ranking to prove it as she heads into Wimbledon, which begins Monday — but the 21-year-old American is also more than that. Someone unafraid to express her opinions about societal issues. Someone who connects with fans via social media. Someone who is the highest-paid female athlete in any sport, topping $30 million last year, according to with less than a third of that from prize money and most via deals with companies such as UPS, New Balance, Rolex and Barilla. While Grede helped the entrepreneurs, Gauff also got the opportunity to pick up tips. 'It's really cool to learn from someone like her,' Gauff said. 'Whenever I feel like I'm ready to make that leap, I can definitely reach out to her for advice and things like that. ...
