Hear the reaction of this year's St. Jude Dream Home winner
(WJW) — The winner of this year's Fox 8 St. Jude Dream Home isn't a stranger to donating to the research hospital (as seen in the video at the top of the story). 'I do contribute $20 a month, but I don't miss it that $20,' said Patricia Ferguson, of Cuyahoga Falls. 'I honestly don't have anybody that has used St. Jude or known anybody, but I feel it's a great organization and it's done a lot for the children.' Extras wanted for new movie being filmed in Cleveland Ferguson was working from home Thursday when the winning ticket was pulled in this year's drawing. When asked if she ever thought she might win, she said, 'absolutely not.' She purchased the ticket with her boyfriend. Ferguson hasn't been to the home in person yet, but has seen it plenty over the last several months on Fox 8 News in the Morning. Tickets were also drawn Thursday for several other prizes. See the full list of winners at the bottom of this page It's the 13th year for the Fox 8 St. Jude Dream Home; we've raised over $26 million for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. See photos from this year's big drawing of the winners: The home This year's home is being built by Skoda Construction at 560 Magnolia Court in Mayfield Village. It's valued at $771,000. The 3,050-square-foot home will have four bedrooms and three and a half baths. There will be an open floor plan with a first-floor master bedroom, laundry and 10-foot ceilings. There's also a gourmet chef's kitchen with upgraded Bosch appliances. It's within walking distance to the Greenway Trail, community pool and sports park. Northeast Ohio Dachshund Picnic returns full of cute pups
KENT, Ohio (WJW) – It's an annual celebration that has really gone to the dogs; the Northeast Ohio Dachshund Picnic returned Saturday with more than 300 dogs in attendance. The annual celebration of adorable wiener dogs always draws a huge crowd to Fred Fuller Park in Kent, and the 27th year was no exception. Cleveland Browns rookie RB Quinshon Judkins arrested in Florida, records show This annual gathering of dachshunds started as a small gathering of friends in a backyard nearly 30 years ago. It has now grown into one of the largest dachshund events in Ohio, with about 550 people and 350 dogs in attendance. This year's annual picnic collected bags of dry dog food to donate to the Portage County dog warden, it also raises awareness for dachshund rescue, with several organizations giving out information. At the event, there were vendors selling dachshund items for people and pets alike. There were also food trucks, raffle prizes and the main attraction, the very popular costume contest. 9-year-old injured after hitting bullet with hammer Another part of this year's fun was meeting FOX 8's very own Dontae Jones, who was the guest judge for the costume contest. Community enjoys Food Truck Friday at Washington Square Park
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Food Truck Friday was held at Washington Square Park on Friday, kicking off a new summer series for the community to enjoy. Community members are invited to gather at the park from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Friday until August 22. Live music, lawn games, activities, and of course, food trucks will be available each week. Music for the event is curated by the Local Sound Collaborative, featuring live music from Rochester area artists across multiple genres, including R&B, jazz, rock and roll, pop, and folk. New pedestrian bridge connects SUNY Brockport over Erie Canal The event was made possible through the Community Placemaking Grant from Project of Public Spaces through funding provided by General Motors.
