Exclusive- Abhishek Singh on choosing an Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin as his Hindi debut: Choosing a show on Television is a long commitment

Abhishek Singh
recently joined the cast of Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin, in an exclusive chat, the actor got candid about his character with the show, his upcoming projects and more.
How do you choose the scripts that prompt you to say yes to something?
I look to answer one question from each story - Can it exist without my character? If not, I'll do it.
Basically, I'm looking for a character that is intriguing and has an impact.
Television is quite different of course! In Television, I look for a good character, but also a good overall storyline. For instance, I'm doing Ghum hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin, right now. My character is that of a corrupt cop. The show has a long legacy, and I wanted to be a part of it for that reason. Choosing a show on Television is a long commitment and I want to make sure it's a show people will remember.
Which medium do you enjoy the most, OTT, Films or TV?
Films, OTT and TV are all awesome in their own way! It's like before OTT came around and took over our screens, we had only TV and movies to satisfy our entertainment buds! TV was a family routine while movies were more like a weekend fix. With OTT's advent, we've got a lot of content at our fingertips. But as time goes by, it appears to have its own place. There is a lot of good quality content, but also sub-standard stuff out there, if we're being honest.

Television has branched out with its own brand of charm and look, and even today, people sit down and watch their favourite shows with the same anticipation as they did ten years back! Movies are of course wonderful, and now we also have many regional films doing well. We are literally spoiled for choice! Such interesting times, aren't they?
Do you think the entertainment industry in Mumbai is far more competitive in comparison to others?
Both Mumbai and the other industries have varying cultures. I know that, having worked in Kolkata. But in the last decade or so we have seen some other regional players really break out, and they seem to be doing amazing work! I have not personally worked with any of them, so I can't comment on their competitive aspects. But with my stint in Mumbai, I can say that Mumbai is an immensely fast-paced, competitive industry! It is also filled to the brim with creative talent and it is quite an experience working in such a thriving creative environment!
Jazz City tell us a little about your character and who is directing you?
Jazz City is a really interesting story. I won't speak too much on it before the trailer release. We are all working to keep its mystery intact! But it is directed by
Soumik Sen
of Jubilee, Gulaab Gang, Mahalaya fame! My character in the film is one of the most unique ones that I never expected to come my way! And yet when it did, I jumped at it! let's wait a little for the film's grand reveal, and I'll give you more on it!

Baba Sehgal recalls getting threat from underworld asking him to stop making music: 'Bollywood was very insecure with me...'

Baba Sehgal revealed Bollywood's insecurities impacted his career. He found recognition in South Indian cinema after feeling sidelined in Bollywood. Sehgal shared he received underworld threats in 1998, warning him to stop singing. Despite the challenges, he continued his career. He also reflected on the turbulence in the entertainment industry during the late '90s. Rapper and music icon Baba Sehgal recently opened up about his challenging journey in the Hindi film industry, revealing how Bollywood's insecurities and industry pressures shaped his career. From feeling sidelined by Bollywood to gaining respect in South Indian cinema, Baba also shared a shocking encounter with the underworld that threatened his passion for music. In a candid chat with Siddharth Kannan, Baba reflected on his journey in regional cinema, sharing that the South Indian film industry gave him the recognition he never quite received in Bollywood. Citing his impressive body of work—including over 250 Telugu songs, 35–40 Tamil tracks, and more than 25 Kannada numbers—he said the South took him seriously and embraced his music. In contrast, he described Bollywood as being insecure about his presence right from the start. Sehgal believes his direct and upfront personality may not have aligned with Bollywood's expectations. He recalled how music directors would reach out to him, but perhaps found his demeanor or way of speaking off-putting. Despite rising to national fame in the early '90s with Indipop chartbusters like Thanda Thanda Paani, Baba feels his success outside the film industry may have made the Hindi film music scene uneasy and hesitant to fully embrace him. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Pistol de sudură laser multifuncțional siginificant Află mai multe Undo He also shared that he received a threat call from the underworld back in 1998—a time when such intimidation was not uncommon in the entertainment industry. While he never imagined being targeted as he considered himself 'just a singer,' the incident came as a shock. He recalled how the experience brought immense stress to both him and his family during that turbulent period. Baba further revealed that the underworld call he received in 1998 wasn't about extortion—but a warning to stop making music altogether. 'They told me to stop singing. The tone wasn't aggressive, but it was serious,' he recalled, adding that the calls often came at night, making it a deeply unsettling experience. Despite the threats, Baba chose to stay the course, building a successful career beyond Bollywood with the support of his loyal fans and the South Indian film industry. Baba Sehgal also reflected on the turbulence in the entertainment industry during the late '90s. He described it as a confusing period when non-film music declined, remixes took over, and the underworld gained influence. 'It wasn't just me; the entire industry was shaken,' he said, highlighting the widespread challenges artists faced during that era.

Instead, he speaks to Elphaba in a calm tone. He attempts to persuade her to join him. He offers her fame and public approval. He argues that good and evil are just perceptions. This is different from the stage version. The three characters are seen dancing together. Elphaba and Glinda also sit together on a swing made from her broom. This shows a new take on their relationship. It is unclear how the scene begins, but it may suggest Glinda arrives before or after the Wizard. Live Events The "Wonderful" number was originally about Elphaba and the Wizard. He tries to manipulate her to join his side. She considers his offer but later rejects it. This moment shows how he uses words to gain control. Adding Glinda changes the tone. Glinda may believe she can convince Elphaba to join them. She might not see the harm in working together. Her presence adds emotional pressure for Elphaba. Possibly a Wizard's Illusion The setting may be an illusion created by the Wizard. He may want to impress both witches. This could be a trick to confuse them. It allows Elphaba and Glinda a chance to talk in private. Their bond remains important throughout the story. Adding Glinda may take away focus. It also creates doubts about her true intent. If she follows the Wizard's plan, her support may look forced. However, if she defends Elphaba, the story could gain a new emotional layer. FAQs Why is Glinda added to the "Wonderful" song in Wicked: For Good? Glinda's inclusion may increase emotional tension and offer more shared scenes with Elphaba, creating a deeper connection for the audience. How does the movie version of Wicked differ from the Broadway show? The film adds Glinda to scenes she was not in before, shows a new wedding scene, and adjusts interactions between the main characters.
