Exclusive- Abhishek Singh on choosing an Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin as his Hindi debut: Choosing a show on Television is a long commitment
Abhishek Singh recently joined the cast of Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin, in an exclusive chat, the actor got candid about his character with the show, his upcoming projects and more. How do you choose the scripts that prompt you to say yes to something? I look to answer one question from each story - Can it exist without my character? If not, I'll do it. Basically, I'm looking for a character that is intriguing and has an impact. Television is quite different of course! In Television, I look for a good character, but also a good overall storyline. For instance, I'm doing Ghum hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin, right now. My character is that of a corrupt cop. The show has a long legacy, and I wanted to be a part of it for that reason. Choosing a show on Television is a long commitment and I want to make sure it's a show people will remember. Which medium do you enjoy the most, OTT, Films or TV? Films, OTT and TV are all awesome in their own way! It's like before OTT came around and took over our screens, we had only TV and movies to satisfy our entertainment buds! TV was a family routine while movies were more like a weekend fix. With OTT's advent, we've got a lot of content at our fingertips. But as time goes by, it appears to have its own place. There is a lot of good quality content, but also sub-standard stuff out there, if we're being honest. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Television has branched out with its own brand of charm and look, and even today, people sit down and watch their favourite shows with the same anticipation as they did ten years back! Movies are of course wonderful, and now we also have many regional films doing well. We are literally spoiled for choice! Such interesting times, aren't they? Do you think the entertainment industry in Mumbai is far more competitive in comparison to others? Both Mumbai and the other industries have varying cultures. I know that, having worked in Kolkata. But in the last decade or so we have seen some other regional players really break out, and they seem to be doing amazing work! I have not personally worked with any of them, so I can't comment on their competitive aspects. But with my stint in Mumbai, I can say that Mumbai is an immensely fast-paced, competitive industry! It is also filled to the brim with creative talent and it is quite an experience working in such a thriving creative environment! Jazz City tell us a little about your character and who is directing you? Jazz City is a really interesting story. I won't speak too much on it before the trailer release. We are all working to keep its mystery intact! But it is directed by Soumik Sen of Jubilee, Gulaab Gang, Mahalaya fame! My character in the film is one of the most unique ones that I never expected to come my way! And yet when it did, I jumped at it! let's wait a little for the film's grand reveal, and I'll give you more on it! Keep reading this space for more.
