Gamlins Law directors climbed North Africa's highest peak
Combined with Ron's running of the London Marathon in April, it means the pair have now raised almost £2,000 for St Asaph-based St Kentigern.

Ron and Dafydd were part of a 10-strong group that took on the climb to the 4,167m (13,671 ft) peak. Last year, they climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania raising more than £3,500 for Prostate Cancer UK and LawCare, the mental health charity for the legal sector.
Dafydd said: "The whole trip was a great experience from spending time with the local Berber community through to the final ascent itself which saw us reach the summit an hour or so after sunrise.
"We encountered lots of different weather during the trip from really warm to ice and snow as we approached the summit to torrential rain and hailstones when we were coming down the mountain. Coping with the high altitude also provided a challenge.
"Experiencing life with the Berber community, with their villages set in the mountainside, was also something we won't forget, including an evening eating with our guide's family in their home.
"It was also humbling to see how the communities are continuing to rebuild after a devastating earthquake caused so much destruction a couple of years ago.
"Either side of the climb, we were fortunate to spend time in Marrakesh, including a trip into the Sahara Desert. On our final night we even bumped into the chef Tom Kerridge who was in Marrakesh on holiday!"
Dafydd added: "We are delighted to raise further vital funds towards the work of St Kentigern Hospice. The team at the hospice made a video for us wishing us good luck and that certainly helped to spur us on.
"We've got further climbs planned in the UK for later this year and are already plotting another trip abroad, possibly to the Alps or Himalayas next year."

Team principal and chief executive Christian Horner was removed from both those roles last month and has now had his departure from Red Bull Racing and its related companies officially confirmed Red Bull has severed its final ties to ousted former Formula 1 team principal Christian Horner. It marks the official confirmation of the 51-year-old's departure from the racing team and its related companies after he was removed as team principal and chief executive last month. Horner was a named director across three companies set up in the UK. He was chief executive not only of the F1 racing team, but also of Red Bull Technologies Ltd, and of Red Bull Powertrains – the latter set up when the team decided to build its own engines for the first time ahead of the 2026 season. But Horner's exit means he will not be the man in charge of the outfit when it first goes racing with those new power units next year. He was relieved of all his responsibility following the British Grand Prix in July, pending the negotiation of his full departure. And it seems that the terms of his exit have now ben agreed. Companies House filings, received on Thursday, show that Horner has been terminated as a director of all three companies concerned with the operations of the F1 team. The filings also show the appointment of a new director in his place, namely Stefan Salzer who is global head of human resources at the racing team's Austria-based parent company, Red Bull GmbH. The only other director of Red Bull Racing now is Helmut Marko, who serves as an adviser to the main Red Bull company regarding its efforts in F1. Oliver Mintzlaff, as chief executive of Red Bull's corporate projects and new investments, is the de-facto chief of the company's motorsport teams. His only public comments to date have been made on social media platform Instagram, including the lengthy statement he issued in the aftermath of his dismissal. Dubai's first flying taxi vertiport to be completed at DXB in early 2026
Dubai's futuristic public transport system looks set to become a reality much sooner than we may think. We now know that Dubai's first flying taxi station, also known as a vertiport, is on track for completion in the first few months of 2026. The Dubai International Vertiport (DXV), set to be opened at Dubai International Airport, will be ready to go at the start of next year, according to the latest report released by flying taxi manufacturer Joby Aviation. It will be engineered for concurrent aircraft movements and rapid passenger processing. It will be the first of four specially-built vertiports handling passengers in Dubai. The General Civil Aviation Authority approved plans by Skyports Infrastructure for the technical design of DXV on Thursday January 9. The authority also approved plans that would allow flying taxis to use existing helipads, meaning we could start seeing flying taxi trips in early 2026. Joby Aviation and the RTA completed its first Dubai-based test flight in June 2025. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai first announced the DXV vertiport plans on his official X account on Tuesday November 12. DXB's vertiport will be the first of four to be built in the initial stage which will allow for speedy, convenient journeys between key points in the emirate without the need to hit the road. The initiative is set to make Dubai the world's first city to offer urban aerial transport through an advanced aerial taxi take-off and landing network. The first vertiport will be a 3,100 square metre facility with the capacity to handle 42,000 landings, 170,000 passengers annually and aircraft charging. Phase one will also see initial stations based at Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah. The Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai will be responsible for governance and integration with other transport modes for the aerial taxi service. The 'verti' part of the name comes from the fact that it will allow aircraft to take off and land vertically, so there's no need for a runway and it's able to operate in busier urban environments. At the vertiport, getting in and out of the air taxi will take only a matter of minutes and isn't expected to have the same stringent security checks that a flight out of DXB would take. The manufacturers say that the vehicles won't cause pollution during flight, will be capable of carrying up to four passengers at 200 miles per hour and will be bookable through Uber at around the price of an Uber Black. Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, said that the service will also be integrated with other forms of public transport. He said: 'In the initial phase, the aerial taxi service will operate from four strategic locations close to Dubai International Airport, Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina, and Palm Jumeirah. 'This service provides Dubai residents and visitors with a new, rapid, and secure transport option to key city locations. 'For example, a journey from Dubai International Airport to Palm Jumeirah is anticipated to take approximately 12 minutes, compared to 45 minutes by car. 'The service also supports integration with public transport modes and individual transport solutions like e-scooters and bicycles, promoting multimodal transport and city-wide connectivity to deliver a smooth travel experience.' Thresher shark filmed leaping from water off Scottish coast
A thresher Shark has been caught on camera leaping from the water off the west coast of Scotland. The footage was captured by those on board the Greenock-based Yacht Candubhlah, which was sailing in the Inner Hebrides south of Gigha on August 10. The predator is seen propelling itself out of the water into the air before breaching the water for a second time. Threshers jump out of the water for a number of reasons, including stunning prey and parasite removal. It is also thought that breaching may be used as a form of communication. The sharks tend to travel to UK waters during the summer months, however, it is uncommon to see them near Scotland.
