The win marked Chicago's first of the year, snapping an 0-4 skid that had left fans questioning the team's direction under first-year head coach Tyler Marsh.
Yet the storyline that reverberated most loudly came as veteran point guard Courtney Vandersloot ascended to the top of the Sky's all-time scoring list with 3,728 points, eclipsing the mark previously held by her wife, Allie Quigley (3,723).
Shortly afterwards, the WNBA posted on X to celebrate the moment and congratulate Vandersloot with the caption, "Courtney Vandersloot just stole the crown from her wife, Allie Quigley, to become the @chicagosky's all-time leading scorer 👑 Talk about a power couple!".
Though the final minutes were tense, with Dallas clawing within two points in the closing minutes, Chicago's balanced attack proved decisive.

All-Rookie Kamilla Cardoso poured in 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Ariel Atkins provided 17 points, six assists and five rebounds in 35 minutes of action.
Yet, it was Vandersloot who stole the headlines.
A five-time All-Star and two-time WNBA champion (2021 with Chicago, 2024 with New York), Vandersloot ranks second all-time in league assists (2,880) and holds the single-season record for assists per game (10.0).

With the win, Chicago improved to 1-4 on the young season, a modest start, but a vital one nevertheless.
The Sky will now head to Dallas for a rematch with the Wings on Saturday.

Charles Barkley Predicts Winner of Pacers-Thunder NBA Finals
Charles Barkley Predicts Winner of Pacers-Thunder NBA Finals originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The NBA Finals are set to begin Thursday night between the Indiana Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Thunder are heavy favorites at minus-650. Advertisement Ahead of the series, NBA legend Charles Barkley—who recently wrapped up an historic run with TNT alongside his "Inside the NBA" crew Shaquille O'Neal, Ernie Johnson, and Kenny Smith (all moving to ESPN next year)—shared his thoughts during an appearance on Sirius XM's NBA Radio Interviews on Monday. Barkley remains very confident that the Thunder are destined to be champions, highlighting their defense as one of the best he's ever seen. "I think it's an all-time defensive team. In my opinion, I think they're the best defensive team—I'd put them up there with the Bulls, the Bad Boy Pistons," Barkley said. "You've got to give Sam Presti some credit. He went out and got Caruso and Hartenstein... and now they've got a really, really good team. You've got to give them their flowers, I think they will finish this thing off. But if they win this thing... you gotta say man, they're pretty special." 11-time NBA All-Star and "Inside the NBA" host Charles Terada-Imagn Images Barkley has been backing the Thunder since the start of the playoffs, and they've given him no reason to jump off that train that's been rolling all season long. Advertisement However, these were his first comments on the specific matchup following the Pacers' victory over the New York Knicks over the weekend, and now that the showdown is set, he hasn't wavered one bit. Oklahoma City finished the regular season with a league-best 68-14 overall record, and while the Denver Nuggets gave them a scare and pushed them to seven games in the second round, they won Game 7 by 32 points. They swept their first-round series against the Memphis Grizzlies and just got done beating the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games. If they can defeat the Pacers, it would mark the Thunder's first NBA championship since relocating from Seattle—where they were formerly known as the SuperSonics—to Oklahoma City in 2008. Adam Silver Addresses 'Small Market Teams' Amid Pacers vs Thunder NBA Finals
Adam Silver Addresses 'Small Market Teams' Amid Pacers vs Thunder NBA Finals originally appeared on Athlon Sports. This month, the NBA will crown its seventh different champion in as many years. It is a stretch that began in 2019, when the Toronto Raptors upended the Golden State Warriors to win their first-ever title; the Denver Nuggets joined them as first-time champs in 2023. Advertisement The Boston Celtics (in 2024) and the Los Angeles Lakers (in 2020) also added to their title-rich histories during this span, while the Warriors claimed the 2022 championship one year after the Milwaukee Bucks ended a 50-year wait for a title. When the Finals tip off in Oklahoma City on Thursday night, the Thunder franchise will seek its first championship since its 2008 relocation from Seattle. The underdog Indiana Pacers are chasing their first NBA championship, having won three ABA titles before the two leagues merged in 1976. The variety among recent champions has been interpreted as the end of the NBA's "superteam" era. Though traditional powers in Boston and Los Angeles have reached and won the Finals in recent years, "small market" teams are enjoying more sustained success than ever before. Advertisement According to NBA commissioner Adam Silver, this is the byproduct of a very intentional process. "If we were going into a Super Bowl and it was Packers vs. Steelers, you guys would celebrate that," Silver said Wednesday on "Breakfast Ball." "People wouldn't talk about Pittsburgh being a small market. It's been intentional to create a CBA that allows more teams to compete." In a league well known for dynastic championship runs, Silver believes the most recent collective bargaining agreements have made parity the name of the game in the NBA. And last year, the league signed off on an 11-year broadcast rights package with Amazon, Comcast and Disney – an agreement that is worth an estimated $76 billion. In short, Silver is not worried about low ratings, especially as the league's most recent playoff game was this spring's most-viewed. The Pacers-Thunder matchup proves to him that the NBA is in a healthy place. Advertisement "At the end of the day, we are a league of relatively small markets," Silver said. "The goal is to have a league where every team is in position to compete." Stephen Curry's Message to Jimmy Butler Will Leave Warriors Fans Pleased
Stephen Curry's Message to Jimmy Butler Will Leave Warriors Fans Pleased originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry added another successful season to his illustrious career. Averaging 24.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game, Curry made All-NBA Second Team -- his eleventh All-NBA selection. Advertisement Evidently, the Warriors built around Curry this past season, which led to a first-round upset as the Golden State, the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference, knocked off the No. 2-seeded Houston Rockets. The future Hall of Fame guard was injured in the second round, which led to the Warriors' playoff exit in just five games at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Adding Jimmy Butler to the squad made all the difference. The star forward was a seamless addition alongside Curry, as the two enjoyed plenty of success down the final stretch of the regular season. The Warriors went from a losing squad to a dark horse title contender with the one trade for Butler. Advertisement Curry and Butler -- as well as Draymond Green -- clicked. So much so, the team will now have an opportunity to build one final contending squad around the core. Through the offseason, Curry made a clear statement regarding Butler, too. The Warriors superstar guard was asked who he would pass of a game-winning shot to, with any player in NBA history being available. "Right now, Jimmy Butler," Curry responded. Having spent his entire career with Golden State, Curry has shared the hardwood with -- and won titles alongside -- Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant, two all-time shot makers. Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry flexes after making a free throw against the Memphis Grizzlies at the Chase Edmondson-Imagn Images Still, Curry's relationship with Butler has gotten so strong that he would pick his current teammate over former teammates -- or anyone else in NBA history, for that matter -- to shoot a game-winner. Advertisement Evidently, Warriors fans should be happy the star duo has gotten so close. It'll take that level of connectivity for the club to make another run at a title. With Curry clearly enjoying his time with Butler in the Bay Area, Mike Dunleavy Jr. and the Warriors front office need to operate with urgency to put the proper talent around the two.
