Shameless Muhammad Yunus gets rebuked by PM Modi, wanted him to stop Sheikh Hasina from...
Bangladesh Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus was left red faced when he wanted Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene in stopping Sheikh Hasina from making statements.
Muhammad Yunus who said that his interim government wanted good relations with India, but 'something always went wrong', claimed that Prime Minister Modi told him that Hasina's social media activities cannot be controlled.
On being questioned about the 'unclear role of India' about Hasina, Yunus responded: 'All the anger (against Hasina) has now transferred to India because she went there.'
'When I had a chance to talk to Prime Minister Modi, I simply said: you want to host her, I cannot force you to abandon that policy. But please help us in making sure she doesn't speak to Bangladeshi people the way she is doing (online). She announces on such and such date, such and such hour, she will speak and the whole (of) Bangladesh gets very angry,' he said.
On Sheikh Hasina's extradition, 'This will continue… we want the whole process to be very legal, very proper… We want to build the best of relationship with India. It's our neighbour, we don't want to have any kind of basic problem with them,' Yunus said.
'But somehow things go wrong every time because of all the fake news coming from the Indian press… and many people say it has connections with policymakers on the top,' he said.
'So, this is what makes Bangladesh very jittery, very, very angry. We try to get over this anger but a whole barrage of things keeps happening in cyberspace. We can't just get away from that… suddenly they say something, do something, anger comes back,' he said.

PM Narendra Modi meets Ramesh Viswashkumar, lone survivor of Air India plane crash at Ahmedabad hospital

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met Ramesh Viswash Kumar, the lone survivor of the deadly Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad on Thursday, which killed at least 260 people. Ramesh Viswash Kumar, who was onboard the ill-fated Air India flight AI-171, miraculously survived the fatal mishap, in which all the other passengers and crew members lost their lives. He is currently receiving medical treatment at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. Modi visited the C7 ward of the hospital, where 25 injured people are undergoing treatment. The Prime Minister also interacted with doctors of the civil hospital, PTI reported. Ramesh Viswash Kumar was in the '11A' seat of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner near an emergency exit and managed to jump out, police said. Speaking from his hospital bed, the 40-year-old told the media that he was a British national and was travelling to Britain with his brother after visiting family in India. "When I got up, there were bodies all around me. I was scared. I stood up and ran. There were pieces of the plane all around me. Someone grabbed hold of me and put me in an ambulance and brought me to the hospital," Viswashkumar told HT. It was not clear whether Viswashkumar managed to jump out before the plane made impact. Modi on Friday visited the Air India plane crash site in Ahmedabad and reviewed the ground situation, a day after the AI-171 flight bound for London Gatwick crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad International Airport. The Prime Minister arrived in the city this morning and proceeded to the site where the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner -- carrying 242 passengers and crew crashed. Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, State Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi and other officials accompanied PM Modi during his visit. At least 260 people were killed when an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick crashed 33 seconds after taking off on Thursday and rammed into a nearby medical college hostel. There were 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian national on board the crashed plane. A formal investigation has been launched by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) into the deadly crash of Air India flight 171 that killed 241 people onboard, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu confirmed on Thursday.

Israel-Iran flare-up: India says 'deeply concerned'; urges restraint

NEW DELHI: The ministry of external affairs has issued a statement expressing deep concern over the mounting tensions between Israel and Iran, following Israel's recent attack on Tehran. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now India has called for restraint from both nations, emphasising the importance of diplomatic channels to resolve underlying issues. "We are deeply concerned at the recent developments between Iran and Israel. We are closely monitoring the evolving situation, including reports related to attacks on nuclear sites. India urges both sides to avoid any escalatory steps. Existing channels of dialogue and diplomacy should be utilised to work towards a de-escalation of the situation and resolving underlying issues," ministry of external affairs said in a statement. "India enjoys close and friendly relations with both the countries and stands ready to extend all possible support. Our Missions in both countries are in contact with the Indian community. All Indian nationals in the region are advised to exercise caution, stay safe and follow local security advisories," it added. The conflict intensified early Friday when Israel conducted strikes targeting Iran's nuclear facilities in Tehran. Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei responded with promises of "severe punishment," while state media IRNA confirmed casualties among military officials and scientists. This escalation comes at a critical time, as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) recently censured Iran for the first time in two decades over its lack of cooperation with inspectors. In response, Iran announced plans to establish a third enrichment site and upgrade its centrifuge technology. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The situation is particularly delicate as it precedes planned talks between Iran and the United States in Oman, where discussions about Tehran's nuclear program were scheduled. While Iran maintains its nuclear program is peaceful, Israel has consistently opposed Iran's nuclear development, vowing to prevent it from acquiring nuclear weapons. The US administration had been working toward a diplomatic solution, seeking an agreement that would halt Iran's nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief.

India issues advisory after Israel strikes Iran; over 15 Air India flights diverted

NEW DELHI: India issued urgent travel advisories for its citizens in Iran and Israel on Friday after Israeli strikes on Iran sharply escalated regional tensions, while Air India diverted over 15 international flights following the closure of Iranian airspace. The Indian Embassy in Tehran advised all Indian nationals and persons of Indian origin in Iran to exercise extreme caution. "In view of the current situation in Iran, all Indian nationals & persons of Indian origin in Iran are requested to remain vigilant, avoid all unnecessary movements, follow the Embassy's social media accounts & observe safety protocols as advised by local authorities," the embassy posted on X. Simultaneously, the Indian Embassy in Israel also issued a similar alert for Indian nationals, amid fears of further escalation in the region. 'In view of the prevailing situation in the region, all Indian nationals in Israel are advised to stay vigilant and adhere to the safety protocols as advised by the Israeli authorities and Home Front Command,' it said. The dual advisories came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared the launch of 'Operation Rising Lion', which he claims is aimed at weakening Iran's nuclear capabilities. Netanyahu claimed that Israel strikes had hit key nuclear infrastructure, including the uranium enrichment facility at Natanz. The strikes prompted Iran to close portions of its airspace, disrupting commercial air traffic and forcing Air India to divert or return multiple long-haul flights mid-route. The Indian government said it is closely monitoring the situation through its missions in the region, while maintaining contact with local authorities to ensure the safety of Indian nationals.
