Lucky lottery players ‘break the bank' with combination in Virginia draw game
Lottery players won millions in a Virginia draw game with a quadruple number combination, lottery officials said. The Pick 4 players 'had a bonanza' in the June 3 night drawing when the combination 4-4-4-4 was drawn, the Virginia Lottery said in a June 4 news release. The players won a total of $7.9 million after wagering $438,939, according to the lottery, which said it paid out 18 times more than it took in for the drawing. 'Pick 4 players break the bank,' the lottery said when announcing the results. 'Quadruple numbers tend to be very popular in the Pick 4 game and are some of the most heavily wagered,' lottery officials said. The odds of winning are 1 in 10,000, the lottery said. If a player wages $1 and matches all four numbers, they win $5,000, according to lottery officials. Drawings are held twice daily, according to the game's web page. The top prize as of June 4 is $5,000, lottery officials said.

Man picks lottery ticket based on feeling — and wins $3 million prize. ‘Unreal!'
A Virginia lottery player was highly rewarded after listening to a gut feeling that told him to choose a winning ticket, lottery officials said. Ervin Antonio Torres said he nearly picked a different ticket, but his final pick won him a $3 million jackpot in the 50X the Money game, the Virginia Lottery said in a May 19 news release. 'Something told me to pick this one,' he told the lottery. 'I don't know why.' He bought his ticket at a Wawa in Stafford, about a 67-mile drive northeast from Richmond, lottery officials said. 'It feels unreal!' Torres said. The odds of winning the jackpot in the 50X the Money game were 1 in 1,836,000, according to lottery officials. Torres won the game's fourth and final top prize, so the game — which began in March 2022 — is now closed, the lottery said.
