Rebel's Romance and Loughnane rock in Germany
Keen to keep things simple Rebel's Romance was up with the pace throughout the early stages, keeping close tabs on Andre Fabre's Junko and when straightening for home he showed his class to bravely hold off the French challenger.
It was in fact a fourth Group One success on German soil for the well-travelled dual Breeders' Cup Turf hero who could return to Del Mar for another crack at the season-ending showpiece, with Coral making him the 5-1 co second-favourite for a third Stateside victory.
Appleby said: 'It's great for Billy, but more importantly great for the horse who keeps sparkling on all continents.
'To have him carry on at the top level is fantastic for Sheikh Mohammed and I see this as a pre-cursor for the Canadian International at Woodbine and then the Breeders' Cup.'
Loughnane has ridden eight winners from 12 rides for Appleby this season and it is fitting his first success at the top table comes in Germany, having notched his first Group-race triumph at Cologne in April last year.
It caps a memorable weekend for his teenage pilot who also won the Sweet Solera Stakes in the royal blue of Appleby and Godolphin aboard Dance To The Music at Newmarket on Saturday.
Loughnane told Wettstar: 'This is a feeling I can't describe, it's a feeling of ecstasy, what a horse and I'm very lucky to be riding in these colours and riding a horse like this.
'He's a star of a horse and has been going for a good few seasons now. Big thanks go to William Buick and I spoke to him last night and he told me exactly what to do. He's a superstar.'

However, Itauma is set to face his toughest test yet as he'll be stepping into the ring with former veteran Dillian Whyte. The Body Snatcher, 37, has been one of the most popular and dangerous heavyweights of the last decade and has signature wins over Alexander Povetkin, Derek Chisora and Joseph Parker. But following a drugs ban, Whyte has scored two unconvincing wins against Christian Hammer and Ebenezer Tetter, as well as withdrawing from fights against Joe Joyce and Lawrence Okolie. It's a massive crossroads fights for both men, with fans eager to know whether a win over the undefeated Itauma would see Whyte become a contender once again. What belts are on the line? To put it simply, none. The minor belts are of secondary concern in this one - Moses Itauma will hold onto his WBA and WBO Intercontinental belts, whatever the outcome of the fight. However, the result will have massive ramifications for both fighters. Victory for Itauma would solidify his position as a top heavyweight contender and potentially move him closer to a shot at Oleksandr Usyk's world title. Whereas, a win for Whyte adds to the rebuild of his career and would demonstrate that he is still a force at this elite level - a defeat could leave him staring at retirement. International flavour at Pembroke and District Choir concert
The performance at St Mary's Catholic Church, Pembroke Dock, saw guests from various parts of the world enjoy the event. Among them was German guest Michael Fisseni, who had previously sung at the church in the 1980s as a member of the Mannerquartett from Freudenberg. The choir's stage manager, David Halsted, is now the only chorister who sang alongside the Mannerquartett. The congregation also included second tenor Malcolm Rees' daughter, Ceri, who resides in British Columbia, Canada. Mirelle Ryan from Pembroke Dock returned as a soloist, performing four pieces accompanied by musical director Juliet Rossiter. The choir's accompanying duties were handled by the Rev. William Lambert, with Matthew John serving as the MC. One of the choir's pieces was dedicated to the late Mrs Carole Chichester, wife of former first tenor Ken Chichester, who recently passed away in Australia. John Power, speaking on behalf of St Mary's, expressed gratitude to the choir and soloist while remembering the long service of chorister Frank Harries, who died in January. For the finale – Morte Christe – choristers were joined by Michael Fisseni, Cor Meibion de Cymru member Tony Hossack and long-serving first tenor Charlie Hare. Refreshments were provided by church ladies, who were thanked by choir chairman Huw Morgan. The concert not only celebrated music but also reinforced the long-standing connections and friendships within the choir.
