In a tragic accident on Monday, a speeding Innova flipped multiple times on the Bilaspur-Raipur highway after its driver recklessly opened the door to spit gutkha while driving at over 100 km/h. The crash claimed the life of one person and left two others critically injured.According to police, Jackie Gehi, 31, a cloth merchant from Chakarbhatha near Bilaspur, had attended a late-night party on Sunday. Around 1:30 am, he called his friend Akash Chandani to pick him up. Akash arrived with another friend, Pankaj Chhabra, and the three got into the Innova, with Akash driving, Pankaj in the front passenger seat, and Gehi seated at the back.While driving on the highway, Akash suddenly opened the car door to spit gutkha. This unexpected move caused him to lose control, sending the vehicle crashing into the road divider before flipping multiple times.The Innova also collided with a parked commercial vehicle, overturned several more times, and finally crashed into a stationary Ertiga. The driver of the Ertiga was injured in the collision but had no opportunity to escape.The impact hurled all three occupants out of the car. Gehi suffered fatal injuries to chest, head and shoulders after striking a metal structure near the divider and was declared dead on the spot. Akash and Pankaj sustained serious injuries.Emergency responders arrived promptly after bystanders alerted authorities. The injured were rushed to hospital, and police have cordoned off the area as investigations continue. The wreckage was subsequently cleared from the highway.CCTV footage captured the harrowing sequence of events, showing the vehicle flipping and a passenger being thrown from the car.(With inputs from TOI)

While the provision is legal and has no upper limit, officials say the absence of safeguards has opened the door to large-scale of the flagged claims, particularly in Hyderabad, were made in the name of registered political parties and registered unrecognised political parties. These transactions were then falsely reported as political donations in tax returns—entitling the individual to a deduction and, in many cases, a significant tax some instances, software employees were found to have issued cheques to known third party entities and then claimed those as political donations in their IT Hyderabad alone, during a Feb 2025 probe (reported by TOI), the income tax department unearthed a ₹110 crore refund racket involving employees from 36 software companies. Many had claimed inflated political donations and received refunds based on falsified donation patternsAccording to internal data, there has been a 10-fold increase in 80GGC claims between 2016–17 and 2021–22. A growing number of these declarations showed individuals claiming political donations worth 10–100% of their total income—a pattern that the department now flags as a critical risk Telangana and Andhra Pradesh alone, 400 high-risk cases have been identified between FY 2023–24 and 2024–25. Some Hyderabad tech employees received notices after declaring donations exceeding ₹10 lakh. Faridabad: 3 killed, 5 injured as speeding car hits another on NH-19
Gurugram: Three people were killed and five others critically injured after a speeding car rammed into another vehicle at a major intersection on National Highway-19 in Faridabad early Saturday morning, police said. Five employees of JCB India Limited were returning to their respective homes in Hodal and Palwal from the company's headquarters after a night shift in a Maruti Ertiga when an MG Hector, with three occupants, rammed into it from the accident took place at JCB Chowk near Sector-55 around 2 am. The deceased were identified as Tevinder, Manish, and Deepanshu, all aged between 25 and 30 years, station house officer of the Sector-58 police station Vinod Kumar said. 'They all were employees of JCB and were travelling in the Ertiga with two more colleagues. The crash took place as soon as the Ertiga reached the chowk. A speeding MG Hector, having three occupants, rammed it from the right. The collision caused the Ertiga to flip multiple times on the NH and it later caught fire,' Kumar said. Also Read: Two killed in Chamba road mishap 'Locals and police reached the spot and pulled everyone out of the mangled remains of both the cars before fire could spread and took them to various hospitals for treatment, where three of them were declared dead on arrival,' Kumar said, adding that the conditions of the five injured people are critical. The police are investigating to ascertain what led to the crash. 'However, prima facie it seems that the Hector driver didn't slow down prior to the intersection,' he said. UP shocker: Army man arrested for alleged rape of colleague's minor daughter in Meerut cantonment; probe on
MEERUT: A 45-year-old havildar in the Army, a non-commissioned officer, was arrested by UP police for allegedly raping the minor daughter of a fellow serviceman at the army quarters within the Meerut Cantonment area, as stated in the FIR. According to the FIR, a copy of which is with TOI stated, "The incident took place on the night of June 3, between 12 to 2am. The minor stepped out of her quarter to stroll when the accused forcefully dragged her to his house and violated her." The traumatised girl, upon returning home, recounted the horrific ordeal to her parents, who were left in shock. Following this, the victim approached Meerut police on June 4, and an FIR was lodged under BNS Section 64 (rape) and relevant POCSO sections. The accused and the victim's father are reportedly stationed in the same unit in Meerut. Initially, the accused was absconding but was eventually arrested late Friday night. He is scheduled to be presented before the court on Saturday. A senior police official, requesting not to be named, said, "We lodged an FIR against the accused and are investigating the case thoroughly."
