He had gone to a late-night party on Sunday and called a friend, Akash Chandani, around 1.30 am to pick him up. Akash arrived with another friend, Pankaj Chhabra, in an Innova. Akash was driving, Pankaj sat in the front passenger seat, and Jackie was in the back. Akash suddenly opened the door while driving to spit tobacco (gutkha) on the Bilaspur-Raipur highway. He instantly lost control of the vehicle, which swerved into the divider and overturned multiple times. The impact ejected all three occupants from the vehicle, which continued down the highway. Jackie was violently thrown and collided with a metal structure near the divider, suffering fatal chest, head, and shoulder injuries. He died on the spot. Akash and Pankaj were also ejected and slammed into the ground, suffering grievous injuries. The out-of-control Innova crashed into a parked commercial vehicle, flipped four to five times, and then slammed into a parked Ertiga, injuring its driver, who hadn't even started the engine or had time to react. This caused him to immediately lose control of the vehicle, which swerved into the divider and overturned several times.
