MADANI Communities To Receive Further Details Within 24 Hours After Announcements

Barnama7 days ago
MELAKA, July 26 (Bernama) -- The MADANI Community nationwide will receive further details related to any announcement within 24 hours after it is made, says Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.
He said the measure was to deliver accurate information directly to the grassroots in each locality.
'For technical matters, it may be difficult, but we want the MADANI Community to get the simplest explanation,' he said at the 2025 Peninsular Malaysia MADANI Community Retreat held in conjunction with the launch of the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2025 at Mini Stadium Bistari, Ayer Keroh here tonight.
The retreat, attended by around 2,300 participants from 1,406 MADANI Communities, was also joined by Melaka Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Communication Committee chairman Datuk Fairul Nizam Roslan.
Also present were Senior Division Secretary (Management) of the Ministry of Communications, Mazlan Abd Mutalib, and Information Department director-general Julina Johan.
Meanwhile, Fahmi said among the major announcements to be made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) on July 31.
He said the tabling of a Malaysia Plan usually involved highly technical details related to the country's physical development, such as the construction of hospitals and schools.
'But within 24 hours, the MADANI Community will receive simplified explanations and breakdowns so that they can communicate the information in an easy-to-understand way to their respective communities.
'So this will be a new thing, because I want the MADANI Community to grasp and absorb any government announcement quickly,' he said.

Digital Ministry to intensify 13MP initiatives, says Gobind

KUALA LUMPUR: The Digital Ministry is set to further transform the national digital landscape under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) with major initiatives, including the establishment of a National Data Bank and the deployment of digital twin technology. Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said the National Data Bank would serve as a national repository for high-quality datasets across ministries and sectors, enabling streamlined data access and improved analytics. While, the national digital twin systems would provide real-time modelling capabilities to simulate complex environments, helping policymakers test and refine decisions, he said. "Together, they will power AI-based decision-making across domains such as urban planning, disaster response, logistics, and healthcare,' he said in a statement on Saturday (Aug 2). Gobind said the government would also establish a National Data Commission, an independent body under the ministry aimed to safeguard data assets and foster a culture of responsible innovation. He said the proposed commission would oversee data governance, enforce secure sharing practices, promote ethical data use, support transparent and crosssector data collaboration, as well as play a critical role in managing the national digital infrastructure and enhancing public trust in an increasingly data-driven economy. In addition, he said the GovTech Malaysia would spearhead digital public services transformation by coordinating efforts across ministries and agencies, with its pivotal role would be in deploying a comprehensive digital public infrastructure, enhancing system interoperability, and accelerating the rollout of end-to-end online services. "A flagship initiative under 13MP is the creation of a single government service window, anchored by the MyGov mobile application and the portal, which will provide citizens with unified, secure, and personalised access to public services through a single platform. "Access to this platform will be exclusively enabled via MyDigital ID, ensuring a secure and universal digital credential for all Malaysians,' he said. According to Gobind, these initiatives support the government's target for 95 per cent of federal government services to be delivered fully online by 2030, and aligns with the aspiration to place Malaysia among the top 20 countries in the United Nations' eGovernment Development Index (Online Service Index) by the same year. "The 13MP signifies a national commitment, and essentially serves as a blueprint for Malaysia to become a digitally advanced, highly productive, prosperous and citizen-centric nation. This reflects Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's commitment to ensure the country's agenda towards Malaysia Digital 2030 succeeds,' he said. On the upcoming Asean AI Summit that will be held from Aug 12-13 and Kuala Lumpur Smart City Expo (Sept 17-19), Gobind said it would serve as a perfect platform for the ministry to expand on the initiatives listed in the 13MP. "This event will not only benefit local players but foreign guests who will get a feel of Malaysia's aspiration in wanting to be a global player in the digital sphere. Such event will also attract investors to take notice of our thriving digital economy that recorded RM163.6bil in total approved digital investments last year,' he said. - Bernama

13MP: RM2 bln flood mitigation works in Kuching to start early next year, says Fadillah

KUCHING (Aug 2): A large-scale RM2 billion flood mitigation project in Kuching City is set to be tendered this year, with physical implementation expected to begin next year, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof. He said the project comprises three main components — the construction of a canal, a bridge, and a new barrage at Sungai Salak — aimed at controlling water overflow and preventing saltwater intrusion from the sea during high tides. 'Two initial packages of the project have already been approved under the Fifth Rolling Plan of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), although they do not include the construction of the barrage. 'For the full project, now under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), it will involve all three packages including the barrage and is expected to be tendered this year. Physical implementation is anticipated to commence next year. 'This is the largest allocation under 13MP hoped for by Sarawak,' he said when speaking to reporters after officiating the opening of the HE Clinic Kuching branch here today. Fadillah explained that the barrage will be built at the end of Sungai Salak to prevent saltwater intrusion and to control high tides by closing the barrage gates when necessary. Commenting on the 13MP announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim last Thursday, he said this is among the projects to be implemented under the plan. He also noted that several other infrastructure projects will continue under 13MP, such as the extension of the Pan Borneo Highway in Sabah, the Trans Borneo project in Sarawak, and the Sabah-Sarawak Link Road. 'There are also other infrastructure projects that will proceed under 13MP, including the Pan Borneo Highway extension in Sabah, the Trans Borneo project in Sarawak, and the Sabah-Sarawak Link Road, all of which have already been allocated funding. 'In addition, development in border areas between Malaysia and Indonesia, and Malaysia and Brunei, will also be prioritised, including upgrading Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complexes, road networks, and other supporting facilities,' he added. Fadillah, who is also Petra Jaya MP, said several other mitigation projects, such as erosion control in Sibu, Miri, and several coastal areas, have been identified, with details to be announced once next year's budget estimates are finalised. Meanwhile, various infrastructure and public facility projects involving flood mitigation and improved road accessibility are among the people-centric initiatives under 13MP for the 2026–2030 period. During the tabling in the Dewan Rakyat on July 31, Anwar stated that RM20 billion has been allocated to implement 103 Flood Mitigation Plan (RTB) projects to reduce the risks and impacts of such disasters. Among the RTB projects to be implemented are those at Sungai Langat and Sungai Buloh in Selangor; Sungai Golok in Kelantan; Sungai Gemencheh in Negeri Sembilan; Sungai Baru in Melaka; the Johor and Muar River Basins in Johor; the Pahang River Basin; and Kuching City. 13MP fadillah yusof flood mitigation project Kuching lead
