Bukit Aman reshuffles 17 senior police officers, key appointments announced
KUALA LUMPUR, June 7 — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) today announced the transfer of 17 senior officers effective July 7.
PDRM Secretary Datuk Kamaruzaman Abdullah announced that the reshuffle includes Datuk Yusni Mohd Jamil, the principal assistant director of Bukit Aman Special Branch E5, who has been promoted to the rank of acting Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
He said SAC Mohammad Azlin Sadari, the deputy director of Internal Security and Public Order (Wildlife Crime Bureau) of the Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department, was appointed as the Perak deputy police chief with the rank of acting Deputy Commissioner of Police.
Kuantan district police chief ACP Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu was also transferred as head of Perak Internal Security and Public Order Department with the rank of acting SAC.
'ACP Nasri Jamaluddin, the deputy head of the Special Branch Intelligence and Operations in Penang will begin his duties as assistant director of E6B Bukit Aman Special Branch with the rank of acting SAC.
'ACP Zulkiflee Rashid, the assistant director (Intelligence/Operations) of the Standards Compliance Division of the Bukit Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department has been appointed principal assistant director (Governance/General Policing) of the Integrity Division of the Bukit Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department with the rank of acting SAC.' he said in a statement here, today.
In addition, Jasin district police chief Supt Mohamad Rusli Mat has been appointed as Kuantan district police chief with the rank of acting ACP.
Bukit Aman Special Branch E5B assistant director, Supt Noor Azman Amardin has been appointed deputy head of the Special Branch for Intelligence and Operations in Penang with the rank of acting ACP.
Also involved was the staff officer of Sabah Special Branch E1, Supt Mohd Azizul Rosun Khan who was appointed as deputy chief of Sabah Special Branch for Management and Coordination with the rank of acting ACP.
Supt Wan Zulfadli Wan Mustafa Pulan, head of the Remuneration/Salary Unit of the Services Branch of the Services/Staffing Division, Management Department in Bukit Aman has been appointed principal assistant director (Finance) of the Finance/Procurement/General Policing Division of the Logistics and Technology Department in Bukit Aman with the rank of acting ACP. — Bernama

Driver high on meth crashes head-on into car in Kluang; Johor police confirm arrest
KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 — Police arrested a 40-year-old chauffeur after he crashed into an oncoming vehicle while under the influence of methamphetamine in Jalan Jaya, Kluang on Friday evening. The case is being investigated under Section 44(1)(a) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving under the influence of drugs. He is also being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug use.

KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 — Former finance minister Lim Guan Eng has alerted the public to a fake video circulating online that uses artificial intelligence to mimic his voice and image in what appears to be an investment scam. According to Free Malaysia Today, Lim said the manipulated video falsely shows him endorsing an investment scheme and appears to be based on an old interview recorded in English more than a decade ago. 'I want to be absolutely clear, I have never asked anyone to invest in anything. I'm not in business; I'm in politics,' he said during an event in Air Putih, Penang today. 'They took an old clip, altered it to look new, and changed the language.' Lim pointed out that the fake version is in Mandarin, while the original was in English, and highlighted that the other speaker, Penang Institute executive director Ooi Kee Beng, does not speak Mandarin. 'That alone is a red flag,' he said. He said the video was created using AI and reported the matter to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission. He urged the public to be cautious about unsolicited investment videos and messages circulating on platforms such as WhatsApp. 'The early attempts were clearly fake, but this one is more convincing. It's dangerous, especially for the elderly or those who trust me as a public figure,' he said. Lim added that scammers have used his likeness in at least five digitally altered videos so far. 'They exploit public trust. That's why I need to speak up, to stop people from falling for these scams,' he said. 'Always verify with official sources. Refer to my verified statements. I will never ask anyone to invest in anything.'

No travel restrictions on Fahmi Reza despite airport detention, IGP confirms
PETALING JAYA: Malaysia's top police official has confirmed that graphic designer and political activist Fahmi Reza faces no formal travel restrictions, following confusion at the airport that prevented his departure to Singapore. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain acknowledged that a procedural error occurred during immigration screening on the previous day, resulting in the activist being wrongly blocked from traveling. The incident unfolded when Fahmi attempted to catch a Singapore-bound flight from KLIA Terminal 2 to attend a punk music event. According to his Facebook post, airport immigration staff informed him that federal police headquarters had not authorised his international travel. Addressing the confusion in an official statement, Razarudin explained that while Fahmi's name appears on an internal monitoring database due to an active police inquiry, this does not constitute a travel prohibition. 'Our department has not implemented any formal travel restrictions against this individual,' the police chief stated.
