Kaantha teaser: Dulquer Salmaan locks horns with Samuthirakani in a battle of egos. Watch

Kaantha teaser: Dulquer Salmaan is all set to shed his 'heartthrob' image and embrace a very layered character that defies the traditional binaries of good and bad. In the much-anticipated Kaantha, the South Indian star will be playing a role, which is expected to explore the depth and range of his talent to the fullest. On the occasion of his 42nd birthday on Monday, the makers of the Tamil-Telugu bilingual movie unveiled its official teaser, offering a sneak peek into the alluring and eerie world of Kaantha. Focusing on the tense relationship between a film director father (Samuthirakani) and his actor son (Dulquer), the 2.12-minute teaser reveals that Kaantha also throws light on the functioning of the film industry of a bygone era. While the promo opens by showing the company Modern Studios announcing their upcoming movie, titled Saantha, touted as the first Tamil horror film, it soon cuts to show Samuthirakani and his preparation for the film. Although Dulquer plays the lead role in Saantha, it is soon revealed that the director and actor-turned-superstar, who were once inseparable, had a fallout once and no longer interact with each other. Nonetheless, as the production begins, the rift between the two widens, owing to the extreme egos that they harbour. While we see Samuthirakani choking Dulquer Salmaan and throwing chairs at him, the youngster is also no saint. Leveraging his superstar status, he slowly starts taking over the film, calling all the shots, sidelining the actual director. At the end of the teaser, we see Dulquer's character changing the title of the film from Saantha to Kaantha, thus also effectively making a hero-centric movie and not the heroine-centric one the director had planned. The movie features Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead. Written and directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, Kaantha is bankrolled jointly by Rana Daggubati, Dulquer Salmaan, Prashanth Potluri and Jom Varghese under the banners of Spirit Media and Wayfarer Films. Kaantha features music by Jhanu Chanthar, cinematography by Dani Sanchez Lopez, editing by Llewellyn Anthony Gonsalvez and art direction by Ramalingam. The film will hit screens worldwide on September 12.

Saamrajya Advance Booking: Vijay Deverakonda's Film Sells 30,000 Tickets In 24 Hours

Last Updated: Vijay Deverakonda starrer Saamrajya will hit theatres on July 31, 2025. While the film is titled Saamrajya in Hindi, it will release as Kingdom in both Telugu and Tamil. Vijay Deverakonda starrer Saamrajya is on a roll at the box office even before its release! Within just 24 hours of advance bookings going live, the upcoming action-drama has already clocked over 30,000 ticket sales, emerging as a top-trending title across leading ticketing platforms. This early traction shows the film's mass appeal. With this movie, the star seems to have tapped into the exact blend of mass storytelling and emotions that his audience responds to. 'This kind of advance response is significant. It proves that Vijay's core fanbase has never gone away; they've just been waiting for the right film," says a senior executive at a national multiplex chain. 'The trailer struck a chord. You can feel the momentum shift." Directed by National Award-winner Gowtam Tinnanuri, the film is positioned as a high-octane gangster saga that centers on power and the bond between two brothers. The trailer, released earlier this week, received a thunderous reception on social media. The Hindi version features a voice-over by Ranbir Kapoor, while Jr NTR and Suriya have lent their voices to the Telugu and Tamil trailers, respectively. In the film, Vijay Deverakonda plays Surya, a secret agent thrown deep into a covert mission that completely alters the course of his life. As the trailer unfolds, Surya finds himself in hostile territory, forced to let go of everything familiar. But what begins as a straightforward spy assignment quickly spirals into something much darker. The mission turns sideways, landing him in prison, where he eventually bonds with those he was meant to destroy. The buzz isn't limited to India. Overseas pre-sales have also seen sharp movement, prompting the producers to schedule massive premiere shows on July 30, a day before its worldwide release. Produced by Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, and featuring music by Anirudh Ravichander, Saamrajya is set to release on July 31, 2025, in Hindi as Saamrajya, and in Telugu and Tamil as Kingdom. The cast also includes Bhagyashri Borse and Manish Chowdhary. The Hindi version is presented by Aditya Bhatia (Adwise Movies) and Atul Rajani and will be distributed across North India by AA Films.
