Wisconsin, Notre Dame to play football on a Sunday in 2026 at Lambeau Field

May 21 (UPI) -- Wisconsin will host Notre Dame in a Shamrock Series football meeting Sept. 6, 2026, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, the schools announced Wednesday.
The matchup was previously planned for Oct. 3, 2020, but postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Sept. 6 meeting will air on NBC and Peacock and take place a week before the start of the 2025 NFL season.
Wisconsin beat LSU 16-14 in 2016 in the last college football matchup to be held at Lambeau Field. The 2026 game will mark Notre Dame's first appearance at the stadium, which is named after Packers founder and former Notre Dame halfback Curly Lambeau.
Notre Dame beat Wisconsin 41-13 in 2021 at Soldier Field in Chicago in the first installment of their two-game series.
The Fighting Irish will take on the University of Miami Hurricanes in their 2025 season opener Aug. 31 in Miami Gardens, Fla. The Badgers will host the Miami University RedHawks on Aug. 28 in Madison.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Caleb Durbin hit a walk-off homer leading off the ninth inning as the Milwaukee Brewers rebounded after squandering a late lead to beat the San Diego Padres 4-3 on Saturday night. The Brewers tied it at 1 in the seventh when Jake Bauers' sacrifice fly brought home Collins with an unearned run. San Diego opened the scoring in the fourth inning. Jackson Merrill hit a leadoff single, advanced to second on a Jose Iglesias walk and came home on a two-out single to left from Elias Díaz. Padres starter Stephen Kolek pitched 5 2/3 shutout innings. Milwaukee's José Quintana allowed one run in five innings. Key moment After Arraez tied it with his two-out double in the ninth, he stole third as the Padres threatened to take the lead. Megill regrouped and got out of the inning by retiring Manny Machado on a grounder to shortstop Andruw Monasterio. The Wolverines had a solid month on the recruiting trail in May, and they are hoping to see the momentum carry over into the summer. One player that is high on Michigan is four-star defensive lineman Alister Vallejo. Vallejo is down to three schools: Michigan, Notre Dame and Kansas. Alister Vallejo is a four-star recruit, according to 247Sports. He is the #203 player in the 2026 class, the #32 DL and the #31 player in the state of Texas. Vallejo currently attends Liberty Hill High School in Liberty Hill, TX. Kansas is closest to home, but Michigan and Notre Dame have better football programs. Advertisement 'Verifiably big with requisite frame to survive and potentially thrive in the trenches at the high-major level,' Vallejo's scouting report reads. 'Checks multi-sport box with encouraging shot put data. Excellent production for an interior D-line projection with 18 sacks, 26 hurries, 5 kick blocks across past two seasons (sophomore-junior). Serious forward juice with impressive linear closing speed relative to mass. Shows promising redirecting ability.'
