Dubai Hosts Global AI Elite at Final Stage of Prompt Engineering Championship
The final stage of the Global Prompt Engineering Championship (GPEC) 2025 has officially begun in Dubai, drawing the world's top generative AI minds to compete for a AED 1 million prize pool.
Held on April 22–23 at AREA 2071 in Emirates Towers, the event marks a centerpiece of the inaugural Dubai AI Week.
Organised by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI), an initiative by the Dubai Future Foundation, GPEC attracted over 3,800 participants from 125+ countries. Now, 24 global finalists are in Dubai to showcase innovation across four categories: arts, video, gaming, and coding.
In the arts category, contestants are challenged to create illusions using only green, red, and black, design a Middle East-based superhero, and illustrate a comic strip with a coherent storyline. They also must depict a scene across two distinct historical eras.
The video challenges include crafting a POV scene from another era, producing a music video for a Middle Eastern band, and capturing a childhood memory or a wildlife documentary in an unexpected habitat.
Gaming participants are building prototypes with unique mechanics, including a one-button control game, a stick-figure fighting game, and a 60-second world-saving challenge.
In coding , competitors are developing smart solutions like a tourist guide platform for Dubai, an AI-powered culinary app, and an emergency response app with an AI assistant.
Finalists represent countries including Pakistan, Iraq, India, South Africa, Brazil, and the UAE, reflecting Dubai's role as a rising hub for global AI talent.
The championship is a flagship event of Dubai AI Week, which aims to position AI as a driver for smarter governance and stronger economies. Other events include the AI Retreat, Dubai AI Festival, and Machines Can See Summit.
