'Netanyahu enjoys dinner with Sara, Israeli hostages starve in Gaza': PM is under fire
ALBAWABA - Israelis lash out at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after he was spotted at one of the restaurants enjoying a meal with his wife, Sara Netanyahu, while Israeli hostages are being starved in Gaza amid Tel Aviv's blockade of the entry of humanitarian aid.
It all started after Hamas shared footage showing remaining Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip looking very thin amid the lack of food and acute hunger in the enclave, which is driven by the Israeli government as a weapon to pressure Hamas to surrender as the war continues.
During this weekend, videos were shared by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad showing Israeli hostages Evyatar David and Rom Braslavski in a visibly fragile state amid the deteriorating situation in Gaza. — Sulaiman Ahmed (@ShaykhSulaiman) August 3, 2025
A person posted photos comparing Netanyahu, who's enjoying the best food with his wife Sara, while on the other side, an Israeli hostage looks pale and thin due to hunger in Gaza.
An X user wrote: "Netanyahu eats the best food. While the Hostages and Palestinians starve."
Another commented: "Silence is no longer justified, and faces stained with shame no longer deserve to represent us. Their lingering at the threshold of power is an insult to everyone who believes in justice and dignity. The time has come to say it clearly: Leave."

Thousands of Israelis took to the streets in Tel Aviv to protest, calling the government for a quick deal with Hamas to save the remaining hostages, who are facing hunger and bad conditions in Gaza.
Evyatar David and Rom Braslavski are among 50 hostages who remain in Gaza, at least 20 of whom are believed to be alive, according to CNN.

Netanyahu eyes full Gaza takeover amid soaring famine and death toll
ALBAWABA- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly considering a full military takeover of the Gaza Strip for the first time in nearly two decades, as mediation efforts with Hamas collapse and international calls for a ceasefire continue to grow. According to Israeli media reports, Netanyahu was set to meet with Defense Minister Israel Katz, Military Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer on Tuesday to finalize a new strategy in Israel's ongoing 22-month war in Gaza. The decision, sources say, would be presented to the cabinet later this week. Channel 12 cited an official from Netanyahu's office saying the prime minister is leaning toward complete territorial control of Gaza. Such a move would reverse Israel's 2005 disengagement, when settlers and military were withdrawn while border control was maintained. Right-wing Israeli factions have long criticized that withdrawal as paving the way for Hamas to gain control of the enclave. While it remains unclear whether Netanyahu envisions a long-term occupation or a temporary operation to dismantle Hamas and recover hostages, his office has not yet commented on the Channel 12 report. A senior Palestinian official speculated the announcement may be a pressure tactic, while the Palestinian Foreign Ministry urged the international community to respond urgently and treat the reports as serious threats. 'These leaks must be taken with utmost seriousness, whether they are intended to exert pressure, test international reactions, or are actual policy,' the ministry warned. The move comes as the humanitarian situation in Gaza worsens. According to Gaza's Health Ministry, eight more people died from starvation or malnutrition in the past 24 hours, and 79 others were killed by ongoing Israeli strikes. Since October 2023, the war has claimed more than 61,000 lives, mostly civilians, according to Palestinian health officials. Israel's war effort has taken a heavy toll on its own military, which has repeatedly mobilized reservists to sustain operations. The Israeli military leadership has reportedly resisted the idea of full reoccupation, citing long-term sustainability concerns. However, Netanyahu faces mounting pressure from within his own far-right coalition, which includes ministers who openly call for the annexation of Gaza and the West Bank, and for Palestinian expulsion. In a public challenge on X, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir called on military chief Zamir to declare that he would obey government orders if a full takeover is ordered. Foreign Minister Gideon Saar defended the military's right to provide professional opinions, while Defense Minister Gallant insisted that any approved policy would be implemented. 'Defeating Hamas and securing the return of the hostages are the central goals of the war in Gaza,' Gallant said. 'All necessary actions must be taken to achieve them.'

Tense and Angry Talks Between Merz and Netanyahu Over Gaza Tragedy - Jordan News
The New York Times reported on Tuesday that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz held several phone conversations—some of them described as tense and angry—with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in recent weeks, as the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip worsens. اضافة اعلان According to a German official cited by the newspaper, Merz urged Netanyahu to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and to allow the entry of humanitarian aid into the besieged enclave. The report added that Merz joined French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump last Monday. During the call, the leaders urged Trump to put pressure on Netanyahu to ease the humanitarian situation. Merz specifically emphasized to Trump the need to pressure Israel to allow more aid into Gaza, where people are dying of hunger. The paper also pointed out that German public opinion has turned sharply against Israel over the past year, as the devastating war on Gaza continues. At the same time, German political parties are increasingly calling for an end to arms exports to Tel Aviv. This shift comes shortly after German Foreign Minister Johann Vadvol visited Israel last week, where he met with Israeli officials to urge them to facilitate the delivery of aid to the blockaded Gaza Strip. While Israel has permitted the German military to carry out air-drops of humanitarian aid over Gaza, the German government released a statement following Vadvol's return to Berlin, noting that there has been only 'slight initial progress' in humanitarian delivery efforts. However, the statement stressed that such progress is 'far from sufficient to alleviate the state of emergency' in the region.

"Israeli" army must maintain permanent presence around Gaza, says Katz
"Israeli" Defense Minister Israel Katz stated on Tuesday that "defeating Hamas in Gaza and creating conditions for the return of the captives are the two main objectives of the war in Gaza," adding that "Israel" must take all necessary measures to achieve them. Katz emphasized that "Israel" must also ensure long-term security for its population centers by maintaining a permanent "Israeli" military presence in strategically selected areas of Gaza. "We must guarantee the safety and security of Israeli communities by maintaining a permanent IDF presence in a security zone surrounding strategic points in Gaza, from which attacks can be prevented and weapons smuggling stopped," he said. The defense minister added that once the political leadership makes the required decisions, the military will execute them with professionalism, as it has on all fronts of the ongoing war. "As defense minister responsible for the army, my role is to ensure this is achieved, and that is exactly what I intend to do," he affirmed. Katz's remarks come amid growing speculation that the "Israeli" government is seriously considering fully occupy the entire Gaza Strip. "Israel's" Channel 12 reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to meet with both IOF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir and Defense Minister Katz to discuss potential next steps. Senior officials in Netanyahu's office reportedly said one of the expected decisions is a full occupation of Gaza.
