An MBBS student from Srinagar has returned home after being evacuated from Iran amid rising tensions in the region. The student, part of a group of 110 Indians, revealed that despite being near the Turkey border, they were denied safe passage and had to travel to Armenia by land. The evacuation was carried out under Operation Sindhu, launched by the Ministry of External Affairs. Students crossed into Armenia via the Nurduz-Agarak border before flying to Delhi. Of the 110 students evacuated, 90 were from Jammu and Kashmir. MEA Secy Kumaran to visit Colombia, Peru to boost bilateral ties
New Delhi [India], August 19 (ANI): Ministry of External Affairs' Secretary (East) P Kumaran will visit Colombia and Peru from August 21 to 26, 2025 to review various elements of growing bilateral relations.A MEA release said that during the visit, Secretary (East) is slated to meet with ministers and senior officials in the governments of Colombia and Peru and discuss areas of mutual interest, including in trade and commerce, mining, energy, health and pharmaceuticals, defence, infrastructure, cooperation in IT and digital sectors, apart from topics of mutual interest in the bilateral, regional and multilateral context. In Big Breakthrough, India, China To Seek Early Solution To Boundary Delimitation
In a big breakthrough in ties between the countries, India and China have decided to work on a settlement of the boundary question and an expert group will be set up to explore an early solution to boundary delimitation. After Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement on Tuesday and said the two sides have also decided to resume direct flights at the earliest and increase the scale of Indian pilgrimage to Mt Kailash and Lake Manasarovar. The relationship, which hit a low after the Galwan clash in 2020 and a prolonged military standoff, has seen a marked thaw of late and the latest developments come in the wake of US President Donald Trump's announcement of 25% tariffs on India and an additional 25% levy for buying Russian oil. India-China agree to reopen border trade, resume direct flights and ease visas in a reset of ties
India and China on Tuesday agreed to revive dialogue mechanisms, resume direct flights and enhance trade and investment flows, signalling a reset in ties strained since the 2020 Galwan Valley clashes. The Ministry of External Affairs said the two countries would work together to 'maintain peace and tranquillity in the border areas through friendly consultations' while addressing each other's concerns. The two sides also concluded the 24th round of Special Representatives' talks on the boundary issue in New Delhi, co-chaired by NSA Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The Ministry of External Affairs said the two countries have also agreed to reopen border trade at three designated points and revive various dialogue mechanisms and exchanges to strengthen cooperation and address each other's concerns. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after his meeting with visiting Chinese FM, underlined the importance of a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable settlement of the boundary issue. He added that stable and constructive India-China ties were vital for regional and global peace, and said he looked forward to meeting President Xi Jinping on the margins of the upcoming SCO summit in Tianjin. Wang, who arrived in Delhi on Monday, conveyed a message and an invitation from Xi to Modi for the SCO meet.
