The National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) has formalised new partnerships with a wide range of institutions for the 2025 edition of its flagship internship initiative, EVOLVE, reinforcing its role as a key driver of youth development in the Kingdom.
At a dedicated networking event in Manama, NBB signed Memoranda of Understanding with several academic institutions, training providers, and national organisations, further embedding EVOLVE into Bahrain's long-term education and employment landscape.
With its expanding partnerships, NBB is strengthening its social impact footprint, offering structured internship pathways that connect students with real-world learning experiences. The initiative stands out not only for its scale but also for its inclusive approach that spans both private and public sector institutions.

Attendees were briefed on the programme's evolution, its contribution to national talent-building efforts, and its growing network of supporters.

Experience Sharing Bahrain's strategy now includes inviting other nations to study its mechanisms and learn from its policies. The meeting stressed the value of institutional partnerships and knowledge exchange to boost regional efforts. A key focus was also placed on a new study evaluating the effectiveness of Bahrain's oversight on procurement and supply chains, a rising global benchmark for ethical practices that prevent trafficking-related abuses. Ongoing Coordination Talib emphasised the importance of working closely with all stakeholders to uphold a labour market that protects employers and workers alike. He praised the role of diplomatic missions and employers in spreading awareness of national laws that safeguard labour rights. TDT | Manama Public-private model to power national talent Bahrain is building a structured national framework to embed youth empowerment into the country's longterm development, Minister of Youth Affairs Her Excellency Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi said on Tuesday. She unveiled a new institutional approach that connects government bodies with private sector partners. Chairing a high-level meeting of the Youth Empowerment Committee at Youth City 2030, the minister said the National Youth Empowerment Strategy 2023 to 2028 is moving into its next phase. This phase prioritises sustainable, system-wide support for young Bahraini talent. She called for a coordinated, cross-sector pipeline to channel youth potential into innovation, entrepreneurship, and national productivity. This, the minister said, will be achieved by fostering joint initiatives and codifying partnerships that translate aspirations into structured outcomes. Structured Strategy 'The future we are preparing for must be built with youth as active partners today,' the minister noted. She highlighted the importance of designing programmes that reflect young people's evolving ambitions. Tawfiqi said sustainable results could only be achieved through institutional mechanisms that link ministries, businesses, training bodies, and civil society. This ensures young people are not just participants but decision-makers in shaping Bahrain's future. Dubai airport logs record travellers in first half
TDT | Dubai Dubai International Airport welcomed a record 46 million passengers in the first half of this year, authorities said yesterday, despite disruptions due to the Iran-Israel war The facility marked its busiest first half on record with a 2.3 percent year-on-year growth, Dubai Airports said in a statement, "despite temporary regional airspace disruptions in May and June". During the 12-day Iran-Israel war, airlines cancelled flights to many Middle East destinations as some governments closed their airspace. In the first six months of 2025, the average monthly traffic stood at around 7.7 million passengers or 254,000 daily travellers. "Based on our performance to date and a positive outlook, we expect the annual traffic to reach 96 million this year, bringing us closer to the symbolic 100 million milestone," said Dubai Airports chief executive Paul Griffiths. In 2024, Dubai International Airport recorded its highest annual passenger traffic in history, totalling 92.3 million. "January was the busiest month of the period and also set a new monthly record, with 8.5 million guests," said the statement. "As we enter the second half of the year, travel activity is expected to accelerate," it added. The top countries for passenger traffic to and from Dubai were India, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom. The Emirati city, located between Asia, Europe and Africa, has been ranked the world's busiest air hub for international passengers for a decade. Dubai is planning a $35 billion expansion and relocation of the airport to Al Maktoum International, on the city's outskirts, in 2032. The new airport will be scaled up in phases, with an eventual capacity of about 240 million -- expected to be the world's largest by a wide margin.
