What OU players Ella Parker, Kasidi Pickering and Sam Landry said after beating Tennessee
They call it Sooner Magic. And it was floating around Oklahoma City on Thursday.
The Oklahoma Sooners rallied to a 4-3 win over Tennessee in their first game of the Women's College World Series thanks to a two-out, three-run, walk-off home run by Ella Parker.
Parker, outfielder Kasidi Pickering, and pitcher Sam Landry took the dais with coach Patty Gasso after the game to field questions. Here's what the players had to say.
More: Everything Oklahoma coach Patty Gasso said after Sooners beat Tennessee in WCWS
Parker on game-winner
"Just understanding just to keep passing the bat. I wasn't trying to make any moment too big. I thought all of our batters before that did a good job of staying loose in the moment and not letting the moment get too big. Honestly, I looked at Maya Bland and she said, 'God's got you.' He's our fourth man in the fire. I just stuck with it, ran with it, and we kept the faith until the end. "
Pickering on single that kept the inning alive
"Throughout my whole at-bat, I was just 'Pass the bat. Pass the bat. Don't go outside yourself. Ella will have you back.' That was just what got me into it. "

Landry on her defense
"We work on double plays all the time, so they're fun to turn in the game. They're definitely a momentum changer. Just having them there to change the momentum, keep it on our side. Basically, the whole game was kind of on their side. So when we could take those moments and get it back in our dugout, it was a win."
Parker on the feeling after the homer
"I honestly don't really remember the first pitch. I just remember rounding the bases with my team's arms wide open and starting to get teary-eyed and really emotional. It was just really, really cool to have them with us this whole time. We never got out of it. We kept the faith until the end. Just being able to run into them was, like, really, really, really awesome."
Landry on sticking with it when trailing
"Not every pitch is going to go my way, but this team is amazing in everything they do. I trust them. I was telling Nellie before the game - she's not in here - but I was just like 'I just have a feeling about this game. Something is going to happen.' Double plays. Ella's hit. Two home runs. Just something about it. I knew if I stayed locked in, they were going to come around. I just kept them where I could."
Parker on athletes who inspire her
"I just think it was really cool to have all those players I looked up to either in the dugout with me or right against the fence in the front row. I think I looked at Jocey that last at-bat. … Being able to finally be that, it makes me really passionate about what's to come for our future and being able to pass that to our future."
Parker on the personal difficulty of the season
"Just learning more to invest in my teammates. I know my teammates have my back and I know I have theirs. … Just being able to have them and know that they're my backbone is something I started to learn a lot more about."
Three players on Sooner Magic
Pickering: "We're just so invested in each other and just knowing you're never out. Like coach was saying, if there's one pitch left, just knowing we can take the game over. Even going to the seventh, Sam kept us in the game the whole time."
Parker: "It's just keeping the faith, like Kas said. Just knowing that we're never out of it until it's over."
Landry: "Sooner Magic travels. … I think a lot of the Sooner Magic comes from the people out there supporting us. We're able to keep that with our team and give the glory to God."
Parker on having her family in attendance
"My family is my No. 1 support system. I started playing because my older sister played and I wanted to be exactly like her. Being able to have that moment and share that moment with them is so awesome to me."

Wisconsin football lands commitment from class of 2026 in-state linebacker
Wisconsin football lands commitment from class of 2026 in-state linebacker BREAKING: Class of 2026 LB Ben Wenzel has Committed to Wisconsin, he tells me for @on3recruits The 6'3 220 LB from Appleton, WI chose the Badgers over Michigan State & Oklahoma 'I am staying home. Roll Badgers!' — Hayes Fawcett (@Hayesfawcett3) June 1, 2025 Wisconsin football landed a commitment from class of 2026 linebacker Ben Wenzel on Sunday. Wenzel announced his commitment during his official visit to the program. He chose the Badgers over one other top contender: the Oklahoma Sooners. 247Sports lists the Appleton, Wisconsin, native as a three-star recruit, ranked specifically as the No. 1,251 player in the class of 2026, the No. 109 linebacker and the No. 5 recruit from his home state. He is the Badgers' highest-ranked in-state recruit in the class, with 247Sports' No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 players in the state committed to Minnesota, Indiana, Iowa and North Dakota State, respectively. Wisconsin was late to offer Wenzel, waiting until May 20 to do so. The program's pursuit then picked up quickly. It has now added the linebacker's commitment before his scheduled visit to Oklahoma (June 20). Wenzel is Wisconsin's ninth commitment in the class. He was the program's second addition to the group on Sunday, following three-star defensive lineman Arthur Scott. Both players committed before the conclusion of their official visits. The Badgers' class now ranks No. 39 nationally and No. 13 in the Big Ten after those two additions. Luke Fickell and his staff are still looking for their first blue-chip commit. Wisconsin is building momentum off its first official visit weekend of the month, arguably the most important three-day period of the recruiting cycle. Fickell and company hope that momentum aids the program's chances with its top targets in the class, including four-star recruits LB McHale Blade, WR Jayden Petit, RB Amari Latimer, OT Kamari Blair and athlete Jackson Ford. 2026 4-star LB places Texas A&M among his final three college choices
2026 4-star LB places Texas A&M among his final three college choices NEWS: Four-Star LB DaQuives Beck is down to Oklahoma, Texas A&M, & Oklahoma State, he tells me for @on3recruits The 6'1 205 LB from Carthage, TX is ranked as a Top 10 LB in the '26 Class (per On3) Where Should He Go? ⬇️ — Hayes Fawcett (@Hayesfawcett3) June 1, 2025 Texas A&M's future at linebacker will always be uncertain, no matter the players on the current roster, as the transfer portal will continue to be an issue for every team until it is eventually regulated. However, coach Mike Elko and his defensive staff have prepared for the inevitable, landing linebackers Noah Mikhail and Kelvion Riggins in the 2025 signing class. In the 2026 cycle, Texas A&M has already received a prediction from On3 to land elite four-star linebacker DaQuives Beck back in early April, which, if this holds, represents the future of the Aggie LB corps once Taurean York and Scooby Williams depart for the NFL, which will likely be the case next April. Like Scooby Williams, Beck's size, speed, and ability to cover the tight end make him one of the more sought-after athletes in the country, and his on-field production lives up to his recruiting grade. As Beck continues to rise in the rankings, he has narrowed his options down to three programs: Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M. After taking an official visit to Oklahoma State on April 4, Beck will head to College Station for an official visit on June 13, followed by a visit to Baylor for an official visit on June 20, which is surprising given that Baylor did not make his final list. Right now, it's likely between the Cowboys and Aggies, while Texas A&M holds the upper hand. Over his last two seasons, Beck recorded 234 tackles, 12 sacks, 30 tackles for loss, five pass breakups, and two fumble return touchdowns. According to 247Sports, Beck is currently positioned as the 159th-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the 9th-ranked linebacker, and the 23rd-ranked prospect in Texas.
