India gets a head start on iPhone 17 as Apple quietly begins trial production

Phone Arena7 hours ago
Foxconn India is now reportedly beginning early testing of iPhone 17 manufacturing, ahead of mass production starting in time for the launch in September.
Earlier, it was reported that the iPhone 17 models were being tested and developed by Foxconn in India. Now, The Economic Times of India reports that Apple has begun importing iPhone 17 components from China in June. This is reportedly done for the start of full trial production. The information is based on customs records. Reportedly, components include the iPhone 17 display assembly, cover glass, rear camera modules, and even the device's mechanical housing. Basically, components for the iPhone 17 were approximately 10% of Foxconn's orders from China in June.
The other 90% of the components were reportedly for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 16. Apple is expected to sell quite a lot of these models next month. August is India's major festive season, so that's why higher sales are expected.
The small number of components for the iPhone 17 though hints that this is just testing for now. Unnamed sources claim that Foxconn began receiving the components in June and trial production may be taking place in July. Mass production is said to begin next month. Right now, the iPhone 17 series is expected to be officially introduced in September. The current expectation is for the week beginning September 8.
Meanwhile, Foxconn is also reportedly looking to open a factory in Oragadam, Tamil Nadu. This one is specifically said to be focused on the production of iPhone enclosures or chassis. Sources are also saying that the $2.6 billion plant in Bengaluru would be focused on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16e production.
I personally think this shows just how serious Apple is about expanding its manufacturing presence in India. If all goes smoothly, we'll likely see the iPhone 17 roll off Indian production lines not long after its official reveal. Exciting times ahead for both Apple fans and India's growing tech industry! Leaked orange iPhone 17 Pro color feels like a breath of fresh air in new image

This year's iPhone 17 Pro series is likely introducing a vibrant new color option: orange. An insider has just shared a photo of the camera rings of the Pro models, and the orange ring feels like a much-needed breath of fresh context, the rings will continue to be colored the same as the chassis that they're stuck on, so this is a pretty accurate representation of what the new color will look like. Camera rings for the iPhone 17 Pro. | Image credit — Sonny Dickson In my opinion, the orange pops and stands out from the rest of the color options. According to similar previous reports, iPhone 17 Pro colors include the following: Black Gray Silver Dark blue Orange I'm glad that Apple seems to be taking a few more risks with the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. There was also supposedly a light blue color option as well, which has reportedly been scrapped and given to the iPhone 17 Air instead. A light blue iPhone 17 Air will, in my opinion, heavily resemble a Pixel 8 Pro with the 'Bay' color option. Ultramarine on the base iPhone 16 was another stunning new addition. | Video credit — Apple According to other reports, the base model iPhone 17 will be seeing a fun new color as well: a long-awaited purple iPhone 17 option. In addition to the aforementioned light blue shade, the iPhone 17 Air will also have green and purple color options if the images of the rings are accurate. Desert Titanium on the iPhone 16 Pro was a very unique look in my eyes, and the orange for the iPhone 17 Pro will sort of continue that trend, albeit being a lot bolder. Of course, color options are hardly the biggest change for the new Pro lineup. The new models will see a revamped rear camera island, and the Air will be replacing the Plus model. Samsung is also offering something similar for the Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus: the online exclusive Coral Red color. However, it'll have to step up its game for the Galaxy S26 Ultra to compete with the orange iPhone 17 Pro. Secure your connection now at a bargain price! There won't be a Samsung Galaxy S26+, new report claims

This year Samsung launched the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra in January and then the S25 Edge in May. Next year, the family (if we disregard the FE model) will only be made up of three members, according to a new report from Samsung's home of South Korea. So, expect to see the 6.27-inch Galaxy S26, the 6.66-inch Galaxy S26 Edge, and the 6.89-inch Galaxy S26 Ultra. That's right, there won't be a Galaxy S26+, that is, of course, if this report proves to be accurate. We can't say we're very surprised. After all, the Galaxy S25 Edge has the same screen size as the S25+, but it's thinner (with all the compromises arising from that - primarily we're talking one less camera and a far smaller battery). And with Apple long rumored to replace the iPhone 16 Plus with the iPhone 17 Air, Samsung is just following along. We assume that the Plus model of the Galaxy S series has been the lowest-selling one by far (it's the same case for Apple), and so letting it go makes sense, especially as the Edge will actually cater to those who specifically want the in-between screen size. For those who want the biggest screen and the most features, there's always the Ultra, and of course it helps Samsung's bottom line that it's the most expensive of the line - and that the Edge is more expensive than the Plus. Average selling price for the line will definitely go up, even if only by a little. The flip side is that those who really liked what the Plus had to offer and didn't need the extra bells and whistles of the Ultra will now have two flawed options to pick from: the Edge with the same size but slightly more expensive and with a smaller battery and presumably still one less camera, or the Ultra that's much more expensive, and bigger, and heavier. Vibrant new iPhone 17 Pro color given to iPhone 17 Air instead

*Header image is referential and showcases what the iPhone 17 Pro might have looked like. | Image credit — Majin Bu Leaked iPhone 17 Pro colors suggested that Apple was introducing vibrant new hues to the Pro lineup this year. However, according to a new report, one of these color options has been scrapped for the Pro, and will instead be used on the iPhone 17 Air instead. Previous reports had claimed that the Pro models would have the following color options: Black Gray Silver Dark blue Orange While orange may remain as a vibrant new shade for the iPhone 17 Pro, one insider claims that a 'Sky Blue' color has been canceled. Instead, the new model being introduced this year as a replacement for the Plus models will get it instead: the iPhone 17 Air . This claim can be further corroborated by another insider who posted a picture of camera rings for the Air. Apparently, the rings will be the same color as the rest of the body, and a light blue ring can be clearly seen in the image. Interestingly, green and purple camera rings are present as well. Different colored camera rings for the iPhone 17 Air. | Image credit — Sonny Dickson I think that the iPhone 17 Pro would've really looked good in that color, but so will the Air. The iPhone 17 Air — with its slim horizontal camera island — will heavily resemble the Pixel phones. A light blue Air would, in my opinion, look very much like a Pixel 8 Pro in the 'Bay' color option. Whether a vibrant new color is enough to sell the iPhone 17 Air remains to be seen. Apple replaced the iPhone mini with the Plus due to poor sales, and is now doing the same to the Plus with the Air. However, if Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge sales are anything to go by, then there just isn't a market for super slim phones that sacrifice battery life. The Air is expected to ship with a laughably small battery that only has a capacity of 2,800 mAh. Even the S25 Edge has a 3,900 mAh battery jammed into its 5.8 mm chassis. However, if it's just color options that you're going by, then the rumored new purple iPhone 17 color should be a pretty appealing choice. Secure your connection now at a bargain price!
