When is EastEnders on this week? BBC schedule twist confirmed

Metro3 days ago
EastEnders fans may be very confused by this week's BBC schedules.
Once again, the hit soap has been shunted to one side for sports coverage – with tonight's episode replaced by Wimbledon.
Tomorrow, Match of the Day Live will follow Poland v Sweden in the Women's Euro 2025 tournament.
It's something that enrages viewers each and every year, who call for the soap genre to be given special priority on the networks.
After all, this isn't just something that effects EastEnders – both Coronation Street and Emmerdale are all over the place too.
This week becomes even more confusing, as episodes will air on their usual days, albeit not on television.
If you watch on BBC One, the next episode of EastEnders will air on Wednesday, July 9. A double bill will air from 8pm.
If you can't wait until then, the first of these instalments is available to view now on iPlayer, and will continue to drop daily at 6am until Thursday.
On Thursday and Friday, the show will broadcast at the earlier time of 7pm.
Confusing, right?!
If you're tuning in this week, you'll see Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) try and navigate his monetary woes in the wake of Bernie Taylor's (Clair Norris) departure.
After she fled with cash from his business accounts, he's forced to return to drug dealing in order to keep afloat. More Trending
Storing the stash in The Arches, it's not long until it goes missing! Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway) reckons he knows who is responsible, and takes some drastic action.

Elsewhere, Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) meddles with son Peter's (Thomas Law) love life once again, suggesting that his fiancée Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) is cheating with Zack Hudson (James Farrar).
Guilt-ridden, she's forced to confess that they kissed.

Plus, there's fears for Elaine Knight (Harriet Thorpe) when she overexerts herself in the wake of her heart attacks, and Callum Highway (Tony Clay) can't keep his hands off Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) – despite being married!

Wimbledon diary: Queen visits Royal Box while Fabio Fognini calls it a day

Camilla was joined in the Royal Box by actor Hugh Grant – who appeared to have a bit of a doze at one point – former prime minister John Major and ex-Sri Lanka cricketer Kumar Sangakkara Another cricket star, India's Virat Kohli, was in the crowd while women's football boss Emma Hayes took in the action on Court One. Flamboyant Italian Fabio Fognini announced his retirement in the Wimbledon media theatre. The 38-year-old's final match was a memorable first-round five-setter against Carlos Alcaraz on day one. He said: 'That's the best decision, to play in the most beautiful court in the world with a guy that everybody knows. It's the perfect picture that we'll keep forever in my room.' 🗣️ "Ladies and gentlemen, when you open your champagne bottles please do not pop the cork onto the court" 😳 Champagne cork drama at #Wimbledon 🍾 — BBC Sport (@BBCSport) July 9, 2025 Play was momentarily held up in a doubles match for the most Wimbledon reason possible. Lloyd Glasspool and Julian Cash's win over fellow Briton Henry Patten and Finland's Harri Heliovaara was interrupted by a champagne cork landing on the court. A ballkid scurried on to remove the offending object while umpire Miriam Bley issued a polite verbal warning to spectators. Big-serving Ben Shelton had just sent a couple of 139mph aces whizzing past Jannik Sinner when someone in the crowd shouted 'give us 140'. The American obliged, and then some, by booming down a serve clocked at 147mph. Unfortunately, it was out. Hayes swapped the dugout for the players' box as a guest of Shelton. The former Chelsea boss is now in charge of the United States national team, for whom Shelton's girlfriend Trinity Rodman plays. A glass or two of Pimm's is certainly a step up from a plastic cup of Bovril at Stamford Bridge. It's all got a bit too much for Hugh Grant 😴😂#Wimbledon — BBC Sport (@BBCSport) July 9, 2025 'I started some fiction book by Elena Ferrante. I'm probably going to finish it – because it's short.' – Bookworm Iga Swiatek Sunny with temperatures reaching 32C, according to the Met Office.

Why the Wimbledon Royal Box is the new red carpet... and the secret pecking order of who sits where: SHANE WATSON

There's been big change this year at Wimbledon. The line judges in their Ralph Lauren outfits have been retired and replaced with Hawk-Eye technology – ending 147 years of tradition at a stroke. But that's not what we're talking about. Wimbledon fortnight has leapfrogged the other social events in the summer calendar and, before we've even got to the semi-finals, Centre Court ranks as the new No1 place to see and be seen, with the royal box functioning a bit like the roped-off VIP area at a Hollywood party.
