Yemeni Security Forces Arrest Espionage and Recruitment Cell Linked to Houthis in Aden
The operation, described as 'high-quality' by officials, marks a significant breakthrough in counterintelligence efforts in the region.
The detainees include two senior Houthi commanders—Brigadier General Abdul-Mumin Mohammed Ismail and Captain Abdul-Hakim Abdul-Mumin Ismail—who were apprehended following extensive surveillance and intelligence gathering.
Both individuals reportedly held key military and administrative positions within Houthi-controlled areas in Taiz Governorate.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the cell was tasked with monitoring the movements of southern military and security officials, as well as recruiting youth for combat roles. Authorities also uncovered evidence of forced child recruitment, a practice condemned internationally as a war crime.
The suspects were intercepted at a mobile checkpoint near Aden International Airport after returning from a trip to Egypt. They have since been referred to the specialized criminal prosecution in Aden for further legal proceedings.
Security officials emphasized that the arrests reflect ongoing efforts to dismantle Houthi networks operating in southern Yemen and to safeguard national stability.
The operation also highlights growing concerns over cross-border coordination and the use of foreign travel to facilitate subversive activities.

Spain Dismantles Major Migrant Smuggling Network Operating from Yemen
Aden — Spanish authorities have successfully dismantled a transnational smuggling ring that specialized in the illegal trafficking of migrants from Yemen into Europe. The operation involved extensive coordination between Spain's Guardia Civil, Europol, and international intelligence agencies. The network allegedly facilitated the clandestine movement of hundreds of Yemeni nationals, exploiting maritime and land routes across the Mediterranean and through North Africa. Authorities say the smugglers charged exorbitant fees while exposing migrants to dangerous conditions, including overcrowded boats and forged travel documents. A total of 17 individuals—including suspected ring leaders—have been arrested following raids across Madrid, Valencia, and the southern coast. Spanish police confiscated large sums of cash, mobile devices used in coordination, and a trove of false IDs and passports. According to an official source: 'This group profited from human desperation. Their dismantling marks a major step in Spain's commitment to combat human trafficking.' The operation comes amid growing concerns about the rise in irregular migration from conflict-affected areas, with Yemen being a major source due to its ongoing humanitarian crisis.

Gulf-Omani Diplomatic Efforts Intensify to Secure Release of Filipino Seafarers Held by Houthi Militias
Aden — Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations, led by Oman, are actively engaged in high-level diplomatic negotiations aimed at securing the safe release of Filipino sailors reportedly detained by Houthi militias in Yemen. The seafarers were taken into custody last month in the Red Sea region while navigating waters near Houthi-controlled territories. According to regional sources, their vessel had encountered mechanical difficulties, making it vulnerable to interception. Omani officials, known for their neutral stance and history of successful mediation in regional conflicts, have spearheaded backchannel dialogues with Houthi representatives. The initiative has garnered support from Gulf partners, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, as part of broader efforts to de-escalate tensions and protect maritime personnel in conflict zones. An Omani foreign ministry source stated: 'The safety of civilian maritime workers is a shared humanitarian priority. We are working diligently and discreetly to facilitate a peaceful resolution.' The Philippines' embassy in Riyadh has been closely coordinating with GCC mediators and expressed gratitude for the swift diplomatic response. Meanwhile, international maritime organizations have called for the unconditional release of the sailors, citing international maritime law and human rights obligations.

Māʾrib — Yemeni security forces successfully intercepted a shipment of narcotics believed to originate from Houthi-controlled areas, in a significant operation carried out in the city of Marib. Authorities confirmed the seizure of approximately 70 kilograms of hashish, which was hidden inside a vehicle attempting to pass through a security checkpoint east of the city. The operation comes as part of a broader effort by Yemeni law enforcement to combat drug trafficking in conflict-affected regions. Security officials revealed that the confiscated drugs were destined for distribution in government-controlled territories. The individuals involved have been detained, and legal proceedings are underway. No official statement has yet been made regarding the identities of the suspects. Government sources emphasized that this bust reflects the growing challenges posed by transnational and internal drug trafficking across Yemen, exacerbated by ongoing conflict and weakened border control.
