CM Stalin launches Rs 517 crore development works, announces new projects for Tirupattur
TIRUPATTUR: Chief Minister M K Stalin on Thursday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a slew of development initiatives worth Rs 517 crore, and announced five new infrastructure projects for Tirupattur district at a government function held in Mandalavadi.
Among the major announcements was the establishment of a new SIPCOT industrial park in Nallakunda, adjacent to the non-leather footwear manufacturing park that had been previously announced. The industrial estate, to be developed over 250 acres at an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore, is expected to generate employment for around 5,000 people.
Stalin also announced the construction of a seven-kilometre road for residents of Neknamalai at a cost of Rs 30 crore and a new electricity substation at Kumaramangalam for Rs 6 crore to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the region. Additionally, a new library will be set up in Ambur at a cost of Rs 1 crore, and a multi-storey commercial complex will be constructed at the site of the old bus stand at a cost of Rs 18 crore.
The Chief Minister inaugurated 90 completed projects valued at Rs 174.39 crore and laid the foundation stone for 60 new development projects estimated at Rs 68.76 crore.
As part of the function, Stalin also distributed welfare assistance worth Rs 273.83 crore to 1,00,168 beneficiaries. The welfare packages included retrofitted two-wheelers for persons with disabilities, among others.
Some of the key completed projects include a Rs 182 crore drinking water scheme, Rs 425 crore worth of road infrastructure works, construction of 14 bridges, 489 school development works, and the establishment of 114 science laboratories in schools across the district.

Muharram Celebrations Begin with Official Patronage in Banaganapalle
Banaganapalle: For the first time in its history, Muharram celebrations in Banaganapalle commenced under official government patronage with grandeur and reverence. Recognizing the significance of the event, the coalition government sanctioned Rs.10 lakh towards the observance of the festival. The ten-day mourning period began on Thursday late evening with a solemn procession led by descendants of the Nawab family. State Roads and Buildings Minister BC Janardhan Reddy participated in the ceremonial installation of the traditional 'Alams' (religious standards) at the Nawab Asthana (palace), offering floral tributes and prayers. Symbol of Communal Harmony and Sacrifice: Muharram, the first month in the Islamic calendar, marks the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain and his kin in the historic battle of Karbala nearly 1,500 years ago. Though it signifies the beginning of a new year in the Hijri calendar, Muslims observe the month as a period of mourning. The ten-day commemoration, culminating in Ashura, is marked by paying homage to the valor and sacrifice of Imam Hussain, who stood against tyranny for justice and righteousness. Alams are installed in Ashur Khanas, and Fatihas (prayers) are offered in memory of the martyrs. A Legacy of Shared Culture in Banaganapalle: Banaganapalle holds a unique place in Andhra Pradesh's religious and cultural history. Formerly ruled by Shia Nawabs under the Hyderabad Nizam's domain, the region has long observed Muharram with traditional fervor. Even after the princely state merged with India, descendants of the Nawab family have continued the observance of Muharram with devotion. Chandrababu addresses at GFST Tourism Conclave, emphasises on caravan tourism
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu emphasised the importance of making caravan tourism accessible to the general public during the GFST Tourism Conclave held at a hotel in Vijayawada on Friday. CM Naidu was the chief guest at the event and took the opportunity to inaugurate a caravan featuring hotel rooms, alongside renowned yoga guru Baba Ramdev. The two later toured the caravans on display. The conclave aims to attract investments totalling Rs. 2 lakh crore in the tourism sector. The state government has already conferred industrial status on a number of tourism projects. At the event, the State Tourism Development Corporation is set to sign a significant agreement worth Rs. 10,039 crore in the presence of CM Naidu. Additional agreements will facilitate the construction of new hotels for tourists in Visakhapatnam, the state capital Amaravati, and the spiritual hub of Tirupati. A video highlighting the state's tourism sector was screened during the conclave, which was also attended by State Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh, Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath, Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rammohan, various industrialists, and senior officials from differing departments.
