Two die, one in critical condition after a gas leak at Pharma City, Parawada
Anakapalli: In a tragic accident that took place at Jawaharlal Nehru Pharmacy, Parawada in Anakapalli, two died and one is said to be in critical condition following a gas leak at Sai Sreyas Pharmaceuticals Private Limited.
At the time of incident three employees became unconscious after inhaling the gas.
The deceased were identified as Parimi Chandrasekhar, safety manager from Telangana, and Saragadam Kumar, safety officer from Munagapaka. Meanwhile, another worker Baidu Baisal, a helper from Odisha, is undergoing treatment in the hospital.
The bodies of the deceased were shifted to King George Hospital mortuary.
Meanwhile, trade union leaders alleged that the management failed in following safety standards and demanded a compensation of Rs.1 crore for the families of the deceased.

Over 8.1 mn people benefited from CM health insurance scheme: TN govt
The Tamil Nadu government on Saturday said that over 8.1 million persons have benefited from the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme. Listing out various achievements in the 4-year old DMK rule headed by Chief Minister M K Stalin, an official release also pointed out that the country's second National Centre for Ageing has been set up here at an outlay of Rs 151 crore. "Under the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme, 81,33,806 beneficiaries have benefited with an insurance amount of Rs 5,878.85 crore." "Out of this, 25,80,867 beneficiaries have been treated in government hospitals at an insurance cost of Rs 2,750.28 crore," it added. Further, the 108 ambulance service scheme has benefited 7.985 million people including 1.9 million pregnant mothers and nearly 1.4 million road accident victims. Setting up of new government hospitals, including the Kalaignar Centenary Special Hospital, initiatives like the Mother and Children Nutrition Kit, the Tamil Nadu Health System Reform Project and the School Children's Eye Protection Scheme have benefited a number of persons across the state, it added.

Medical Body Seeks Aid From Tata Group For Students Affected By Plane Crash
Ahmedabad (Gujarat): The Indian Medical Association of the Gujarat State Branch on Friday wrote a letter to the Chairman of Tata Sons, requesting to extend support to medical students injured and killed following the plane crash at the premises of the BJ Medical College in Ahmedabad. In a letter to N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, the IMA said, "On behalf of the Indian Medical Association - Gujarat State Branch, we extend our heartfelt appreciation for Air India's announcement of Rs 1 crore compensation to the families of the passengers who tragically lost their lives in the recent incident, and for your generous support towards the renovation of the BJMC college hostel." "We humbly request you also to consider extending financial assistance and necessary support to the medical students present at the crash site who were injured or lost their lives in this unfortunate event," said the letter. "These individuals were not only victims but also future pillars of our healthcare system, and their well-being and families deserve similar care and support. Accordingly, we earnestly request you to declare immediately similar help to the medical students injured or who have lost their lives. We sincerely hope you will consider this request with compassion and urgency," the letter stated. Meanwhile, officials from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) arrived in Ahmedabad, where the London-bound Air India flight crashed on June 12, killing 241 people out of 242 onboard. The AAIB, a division under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, is responsible for probing aircraft accidents in India. On Thursday, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu confirmed that a formal investigation has been launched into the crash of Air India flight AI-171. The Boeing 787-8, Air India flight 171 from Ahmedabad to London, crashed into a resident doctors' hostel building shortly after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The US-based National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is preparing to send a team of investigators to India to assist in the ongoing probe into the deadly crash. In parallel, the Indian government has constituted a high-level multidisciplinary committee to examine the causes leading to the crash and recommend preventive measures. "The Committee will examine the existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines issued to prevent and handle such occurrences and suggest comprehensive guidelines for dealing with such instances in the future," stated an order issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. "The Committee will not be a substitute for other enquiries being conducted by relevant organisations but will focus on formulating SOPs for preventing and handling such occurrences in the future," the order clarified. According to the ministry, the committee will have access to all relevant records, including flight data, cockpit voice recordings, aircraft maintenance logs, air traffic control records, and witness testimonies. The panel is expected to submit its report within three months. The committee is chaired by the Union Home Secretary and includes representatives from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Indian Air Force, and aviation experts. It also noted that it will formulate a comprehensive SOP and suggest the roles of all agencies and organisations of the central and state governments to deal with post-crash incident handling and management.

Himachal to set up potato processing plant in Una
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sukhu on Thursday said a potato processing plant would be set up in Una district at a cost of about Rs 20 crore. He said the support price for the crop would soon be declared to strengthen the economy of the farmers. Chairing the state-level multi-stakeholder consultative conference organised by Himachal Pradesh Revitalising Rainfed Agriculture Network here, the Chief Minister said the government was promoting green energy and natural farming in a big way. The minimum support price had been fixed for crops produced from natural farming, and it would be further increased in the coming times. Highlighting the importance of natural farming, he said many new schemes would be implemented to boost the rural economy. Sukhu said that after the north-eastern states, the highest increase in cancer cases had been witnessed in Himachal Pradesh. The efforts were on to find out its root cause, and a change in food habits could also be a main reason for the rise. The Chief Minister said 80 per cent of the state's population depends on agriculture for livelihood and is the backbone of Himachal's economy, contributing about 14 per cent to the state's GDP. He also expressed concern over the changing pattern of weather that was adversely impacting agriculture. 'This challenge could be faced effectively by taking steps like climate-tolerant agriculture, promotion of pulses, extensive animal husbandry, more use of traditional seeds, laying emphasis on water security and soil conservation, etc.,' he said. The Chief Minister said traditional seeds and crops grown through natural farming are rich in nutrition and also require less water. 'We need to reuse such traditional crops, and these have to be further improved through research to ensure nutritious food and a clean environment for future generations.' The Chief Minister also released a book based on the experiences of natural farming on this occasion.
