He said that based on last year's statistics, rape and incest cases involving adolescents have increased, with 252 cases reported compared to 206 in 2023.
'Even more worrying is that nearly 91 per cent of these cases occurred with mutual consent between underage teenagers.
'The sharp rise in rape and incest cases among minors is very alarming. If left unchecked, the country may face a severe social emergency that could destroy the future of the younger generation,' he said here today.
Mohd Na'im said this at the launch of the 2025 national-level Social Awareness Roadshow (J-KIS), which was also attended by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee.
On the issue of depression among youths, Mohd Na'im said that if not addressed, it could lead to serious consequences, including contributing to suicide cases.
He said records showed that such cases increased to 1,087 in 2023 from 981 in the previous year.
At the same time, Mohd Na'im expressed the hope that the J-KIS programme launched today, and similar initiatives, could be expanded to create a lasting impact on society.
Meanwhile, Sirajuddin said the J-KIS programme is aimed at enhancing knowledge and awareness among youths on social issues through engaging sessions.

"Once the criminals obtain details such as bank account numbers, identity card numbers or OTP codes, they will access the victim's account and transfer funds without the victim's knowledge," he said when contacted today. Although no police reports have been received so far involving scams linked to the programme, the authorities take seriously the potential for exploitation by irresponsible parties targeting vulnerable groups. As such, Rusdi advised the public to remain vigilant and never share any personal or financial information with unknown individuals. "Do not easily trust calls, messages, or links claiming to be from government agencies offering assistance. Never click on suspicious links or enter personal information on unverified websites," he said. Rusdi added that all matters relating to government aid, such as the SARA programme, should only be referred through official channels, including ministry or agency websites managing the aid. "The public is also advised to carefully check application terms, eligibility and implementation details before taking any action," he said. He noted that a small mistake like sharing an OTP code could lead to losses, and urged the public to only seek accurate and updated information through official government portals or recognised mainstream media. On July 23, Anwar announced a one-off RM100 cash aid for all Malaysians aged 18 and above via their MyKad under the SARA programme, involving a RM2 billion allocation benefiting 22 million people. Iranian suspects in Penang hypnosis scam target tourists
KEPALA BATAS: The five Iranians detained on Sunday for allegedly stealing money from foreign tourists in George Town are suspected members of a trained syndicate skilled in deception. Penang acting police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin revealed the group entered Malaysia on social visit passes and rented a car to travel from Kuala Lumpur to Penang on July 27. Initial investigations show the syndicate operated from a Batu Ferringhi homestay. Though active in theft cases, no police reports were filed, indicating minor losses. Media reports confirmed the arrest of three men and two women, aged 19 to 35, at a George Town mall under Ops Tourist. Between July 30 and August 1, three theft reports were lodged by tourists from Taiwan, the Netherlands, and Syria in Pulau Tikus and Jalan Penang. Police seized foreign currencies, two vehicles, and marijuana during the arrests. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the project, to be implemented through the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), was approved under the Fifth Rolling Plan (RP5) of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) for 2025. 'The main scope of the project involves the construction of riverbank stabilisation structures to overcome the problem of collapsing riverbanks in the affected areas,' he said in his written answer to Serian MP Dato Sri Richard Riot Jaem in Parliament today. The parliamentary reply was shared to The Borneo Post by Riot's office. Fadillah said survey and detailed design works will be carried out this year, while physical construction is expected to begin in mid-2027.
