
Real Madrid maintains Title of the U 13 Dubai Intercontinental Football Cup
Real Madrid Team of Spain has won its second successive title of the U 13 Dubai Intercontinental Football Cup, which was held with distinctive participation of more than 400 players, representing 24 teams.
The U 13 Dubai Intercontinental Football Cup was organized with the support of Dubai Sports Council (DSC), aiming to attract & develop sports talents in football.
Winners of the first places were honored by H.E. Khalfan Belhoul, the Deputy Chairman of DSC, accompanied by H.E. Saeed Hareb, the Secretary General of DSC, and Michel Salgado, Former Star of Real Madrid & Spanish National Team, in the presence of H.E. Naser Aman Al-Rahma, Assistant Secretary General of DSC, and Mr. Daniel Petrovs, the CEO of ISD Co. in Dubai Sports City.
Real Madrid beat Celta Vigo 2 – 1 in the final match to win the golden cup, while Rodina surpassed Chelsea to secure the silver cup. Fursan Hispania overcame Al-Wahda & gained the bronze cup.
Pablo Garcia of Real Madrid was awarded as best player in the Championship, while his colleague in the Team Guillermo Collado gained the highest scorer's title and Iker Loredo of Celta Vigo was honored as the best goalkeeper.
The Championship was held with participation of 24 teams; these are: Real Madrid of Spain, Celta Vigo of Spain, AC Milan & Levante Azzurro of Italy, Chelsea of England, Bayern Munich of Germany, CSKA & Rodina of Russia, Dribbles of France, Al-Ittihad of Saudi Arabia, Mahd Academy of Saudi Arabia, England Sports Club & Iris Academy of Jordan, ZED of Egypt, in addition to 10 teams from the Emirates: Al-Nasr, Al-Jazeerah, Al-Wahda, Shabab Al-Ahli, Al-Wasl, Sharjah, Hatta, Fursan Hispania (two teams), and Joga Bonito Academy.
The U 13 Dubai Intercontinental Football Cup is a model of cooperation between DSC and private corporations, aiming to develop the sports sector through organizing of various competitive & community sports competitions and events.
The championship also comes within the framework of the Council's keenness to provide unique opportunity for the Emirati clubs and football companies to develop the skills of national players and coaches via involving in competitions vs. prominent teams from different international academies, which contribute to enhancing their levels and qualifying them in an ideal way to provide distinctive performance, join national teams and represent the country in various international forums.
The championship is part of a comprehensive plan, adopted by DSC to organize sports championships for various age groups of juniors with distinctive local & global participation, contributing to the development of national and international talents, who have been recruited in major international clubs. DSC's plan also includes organization of various competitions for all age groups. These championships constitute a national Emirati product, which is proudly presented by DSC to the world, and it is developed annually to be at the forefront of sports events for all age groups.
