This updated outlook differs from the company's December 2024 announcement, when it aimed to open 10 to 15 stores annually. A spokesperson explained that the revised figure reflects the time needed to "ramp up" expansion efforts. Does Musk still oppose the ‘Big Beautiful Bill?' What we know after his apologetic post
The Elon Musk v. Donald Trump feud appears to be over nearly as quickly as it started. Shortly after Musk departed his official role at the White House at the end of May, he waged a full-on "kill the bill" campaign against Trump's massive tax and domestic policy bill. The divergence with Trump escalated to the point that he signaled support for Trump's impeachment and accused him of being involved with the late child sex-trafficker Jeffrey Epstein in now-deleted X posts. Amid the back-and-forth, Trump had said he asked Musk to leave the White House and suggested the federal government might end contracts with Musk. But on June 11, Musk posted on X, "I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far." But given this all started with Trump's key legislation dubbed by supporters as the "Big Beautiful Bill," does he still oppose it? Here is what we know: Musk and Trump's relationship: A timeline from campaign cash to 'disgusting abomination' He hasn't changed his tune on the bill yet, at least publicly. Musk started speaking out against the legislation because he says it costs too much, calling it a "disgusting abomination." While Musk has deleted some of his more inflammatory posts about Trump, some posts about killing the bill are still live as of the afternoon of June 11. "And the big, ugly spending bill will make things much worse," Musk said in a June 5 post. A "Kill Bill" movie image is still posted on Musk's profile from June 4. But in recent days, Musk has been posting about Tesla's robotaxi and expressed support for Trump deploying the National Guard to counter protests that erupted in response to the administration's ICE raids. USA TODAY reached out to Tesla about Musk's current stance on the bill. Trump appears ready to put the spat behind him. 'Look, I have no hard feelings,' Trump told New York Post columnist Miranda Devine. 'I was really surprised that that happened. He went after a bill that's phenomenal. …He just — I think he feels very badly that he said that, actually.' He also said he might be able to get back to a regular relationship with Musk, but was focused on running the country. Trump told the New York Post he thought "it was very nice" that Musk posted on June 11.
