Abu Dhabi, UAE - With multiple holiday periods approaching from March through August, Etihad Airways is preparing for a significant increase in travellers at Zayed International Airport. To ensure guests enjoy a smooth start to their journey, the airline is encouraging early planning and utilisation of its comprehensive digital services.
The airline expects particularly high passenger volumes during the School Spring Break (20 March-13 April), Eid Al Fitr (late March), Hajj Season (May), Eid Al Adha (early June), and the School Summer Break (28 June-24 August).
Captain Majed Al Marzouqi, Etihad Airways Interim Chief Operations & Guest Officer, said: "We're preparing to welcome thousands of additional guests during these peak periods. Our teams are fully prepared to ensure every journey begins smoothly, and we recommend travellers take advantage of our numerous check-in options and digital tools to enjoy a relaxed start to their holidays."

Flight Information and Updates
Staying informed is key during busy travel periods. Guests can easily access the latest flight information through the Manage My Booking section on etihad.com or via the mobile app, where they can view or modify flight details, select seats, and access various other services.
Early Check-in Options
To avoid potential queues, guests are strongly encouraged to arrive at the airport at least four hours before departure during peak periods. For added convenience, Etihad offers multiple early check-in options:
Online check-in opens 48 hours before departure and is available through etihad.com or the mobile app. After checking in online, guests can use the many automated self-service bag drops at the terminal, allowing them to weigh and tag their bags and collect their boarding pass in under a minute.

Home Check-in and Land & Leave Services
For ultimate convenience, guests can start their journey with home check-in through MORAFIQ, available up to five hours before departure. Starting from AED 185, this service includes baggage check-in, seat selection, and doorstep delivery of boarding passes.
Upon return to Abu Dhabi, the Land & Leave service offers a seamless arrival experience. Guests can proceed directly to their destination while MORAFIQ delivers their bags to any Abu Dhabi address within three hours of landing. These services can be booked via the MORAFIQ app or website.
Pre-purchase Travel Options
Enhanced comfort options are available for purchase on etihad.com for travellers during the busy holiday period. Economy Extra Legroom offers more space to stretch out, while the Neighbour-free Seat option can be selected at least 72 hours prior to departure.
Guests can also enhance their pre-flight experience with First and Business Class Lounge access, available for purchase up to 90 minutes before departure.
Baggage Policy
Economy Class guests are permitted 7kg of carry-on baggage, while First and Business Class guests can bring up to 12kg. Cabin baggage must not exceed the dimensions of 50cm height, 25cm depth, and 40cm width. Additional checked baggage allowance can be purchased at special rates through Etihad's website or mobile app before departure.
US Pre-clearance Facility
Travellers to US destinations must check in at Terminal A at least four hours before their flight. First, Business, and The Residence guests should arrive at the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Preclearance facility 90 minutes before departure, while all other guests must arrive two hours before departure. The facility closes one hour before flight departure.

Also known as the 'Festival of Sacrifice,' the holiday commemorates the act of faith and is generally a time for prayer, reflection, and generosity. Here's the latest on revised parking and public transport timings across emirates: Abu Dhabi Parking and toll fees are typically free in the capital on Sundays and official holidays. On June 4, the emirate's Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), an affiliate of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, has announced that bus services will operate according to the weekend and public holiday schedule. This exemption does not apply to the seven-day paid public parking zones, which are operational throughout the week and official holidays, and identified by the blue parking information signs. Sharjah boosts Eid Al Adha travel services with 5,600 bus trips, new Dubai boat route and Oman Link
The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has unveiled a comprehensive transport plan for the Eid Al Adha 2025 holiday (June 5–8), ensuring residents and visitors enjoy safe, smooth, and stress-free travel during the festive break. With a surge in travel expected across Sharjah and beyond, SRTA will operate 180 buses across the emirate, delivering more than 5,600 trips across four days. To manage the holiday rush, bus frequency will increase to every five minutes during peak hours, down from the usual 45 minutes, dramatically reducing wait times for passengers. Sharjah Eid Al Adha transport Engineer Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, the head of the SRTA, highlighted the importance of being well-prepared during holidays. In Sharjah City, the Authority will run 1,144 daily trips across 12 routes with 104 buses covering 543 stops, making travel between neighbourhoods faster and more efficient. Additional staff will be deployed at key stations, particularly Jubail Bus Station, which will remain open from early morning until late evening. New Eid boat service between Sharjah and Dubai In a major highlight for intercity travellers, a special boat service between Sharjah and Dubai will operate four times daily during Eid. Departing from Sharjah's Aquarium Station and arriving at Al Ghubaiba Station in Dubai, the marine route is a collaboration between SRTA and Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority, offering scenic and efficient transport between the emirates. SRTA is also working with Oman's national transport company, Mwasalat, to operate international route 203. This bus service connects the Emirate to Muscat, Oman's capital, with two daily trips from Jubail Station to Al Athaiba in Muscat, stopping at several destinations along the route.

Eid travel: Some UAE residents denied entry to Georgia amid stricter visa rules
Georgia has tightened visa regulations for specific nationalities, including residents of the UAE, as part of amendments officially introduced on April 17, 2025. The revised rules impact citizens of several countries, including Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, even if they hold valid visas or residence permits from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The regulatory changes caught UAE resident Muhammad, a 31-year-old senior product manager, completely off guard when he and a friend landed at Kutaisi International Airport for the Eid Al Adha holidays. They had flown from Abu Dhabi on a Wizz Air flight. 'We had all the required documents, UAE residency proof, hotel bookings, return tickets, and travel insurance. Some passengers were stopped before boarding, but we were cleared to fly,' said Muhammad, a Pakistani expat. However, after landing, the situation changed. Before reaching immigration, they were asked for identification by a police officer. 'We were escorted aside, our passports were taken, and our photos were clicked in front of the other passengers,' Muhammad recalled. 'We weren't given any explanation until a female officer handed us rejection-of-entry papers.' Mohammad 'felt insulted' by the handling of the entire situation where he and his companion were supposedly treated 'like a criminal'. 'We were detained for more than 12 hours in a prison-like room without food, clean water, or proper sanitation.' Muhammad is now urging others, especially Pakistani passport holders, to carefully reconsider travel plans to Georgia. 'We lost money on flights, hotel bookings, insurance, and car rentals, but that's nothing compared to the mental stress, anxiety, and psychological trauma we endured.' Georgia introduced the changes through an amendment to the Government Resolution of June 5, 2015, titled "On Approval of the List of Countries, the Visas and/or Residence Permits of which Allow Aliens to Enter Georgia without a Visa for the Appropriate Period and Conditions". The updated regulation does not simplify entry procedures, claimed incorrectly by some media and social media reports, but rather introduces stricter requirements aimed at combating illegal migration and ensuring better control of Georgia's borders. Key change Gulf residency no longer automatically grants visa-free access. Under the previous version of the resolution, citizens of certain countries could enter Georgia without a visa if they held valid visas or residence permits from GCC member states. However, the previous regulation did not specify any minimum validity period for those visas or permits. As of April 17, 2025, this has changed. Citizens from a designated list of countries who hold multiple-entry visas or residence permits issued by Gulf countries will now only be allowed to enter Georgia without a Georgian visa if their visa or permit is valid for at least one year on the day of entry. This validity must be clearly demonstrated by a passport or other relevant documentation. Travel agents in the UAE confirmed that after the new policy came into motion, some residents have been stopped at the Georgian immigration. Speaking to Khaleej Times, Godly Babukutty of Epic Travel said although they have not faced issues with their customers, they are aware of such incidents happening to other residents. "What Georgia has implemented now is nothing new and many countries have been doing this since years. The reason why Georgia is now tightening its security measures is because people would often not have a proper itinerary or would book tickets without answering all the required questions on the form." He also urged residents to ensure all the requirements like hotel bookings, return tickets and cash is prepared before booking flight tickets. "This is why it is always safer to book through travel agencies who ensure travellers have all the necessary documentation before flying out. We also urge our customers to never travel without insurance." Affected countries This restriction specifically applies to nationals of the following countries: Pakistan Afghanistan Bangladesh Ghana Ethiopia Eritrea Yemen Cameroon Côte d'Ivoire Democratic Republic of Congo Morocco Nigeria Somalia Syria Sudan Tanzania Uganda These individuals will no longer be granted visa-free access to Georgia simply by virtue of holding a short-term visa or residence permit from a Gulf country. Only those with a minimum one-year validity on their Gulf-issued visa or permit will qualify for visa-free entry. Georgia emphasises that these amendments are designed to tighten existing rules, not to ease them. According to official statement, misinterpretations circulating in the media suggesting otherwise are false and do not reflect the actual content or intent of the legislative changes.
