The sporting superstar, from Dunblane, Perthshire, said it was a 'real honour' to pair with the brand after celebrating his Wimbledon win with the famous biscuits.
Tennis icon Andy Murray has poked fun at his fame as he is announced as the new face of Walker's shortbread.
The sporting superstar, from Dunblane, Perthshire, said it was a 'real honour' to pair with the brand - which shares a pride in its Scottish roots - and revealed he even celebrated his Wimbledon win with the famous biscuits.

In a new advert announcing the partnership, the 38-year-old Olympic gold medalist and three-time Grand Slam winner is seen taking a bite of a piece of shortbread as he's compared to the 'Scottish institution'.

Murray, who retired from tennis last year, becomes the family-owned brand's first ever ambassador in its 127-year history.
He said: 'I've always been proudly Scottish, and partnering with Walker's, a brand that has been representing Scotland around the world for well over a century, just felt right.
'I come from a small tight-knit community and when I look back at where I have come from, I am proud of what I've achieved, which is something I share with Walker's.
'I've been eating shortbread since I was a kid - my gran would make it all the time for us. We even celebrated my Wimbledon win with shortbread.
'Shortbread is one of my simple pleasures. No matter where I am in the world, a piece of Walker's Shortbread always transports me back home.'

Murray, who recently split from Novak Djokovic's coaching group, is famous for his dry sense of humour.

In the advert, the dad pokes fun at his own success as he eyes up the camera to the words 'an icon, a piece of history and a Scottish institution loved the world over. Popular with mums. Great with a cuppa.'

Sir Andy won a record five Queen's singles titles between 2009 and 2016.
And in 2019, five months after career-saving hip resurfacing surgery, he lifted the doubles titles with Feliciano Lopez.

He laid down his racquet following the Paris 2024 Olympics and had a farewell celebration on Wimbledon's Centre Court last summer
Debuting the new star of their advert, Walkers said: 'From a small town in Scotland to the world stage, Andy's journey mirrors our own. A wee bit of Scotland that's come a long way.'
Nicky Walker, Managing Director, Walker's Shortbread: 'We are incredibly excited to welcome Andy Murray as our very first brand ambassador. We've always admired Andy's achievements, his dedication and his cautious charisma as well as his very obvious close relationship with his own family.
'These are qualities that resonate deeply with our own values at Walker's Shortbread.
'We are extremely honoured that Andy and his team have acknowledged Walker's as a suitable partner and we are looking forward to this exciting new venture as we continue to promote Scotland at its finest.'

Walter Smith's angry reaction to Celtic vs Rangers agro

In a game that has gone down in history with three red cards, 13 yellows and 34 fans arrested at Celtic Park for the Scottish Cup derby encounter between the teams on March 2, 2011, it is also widely remembered as the time Lenny and McCoist went head-to-head in an angry exchange. As the full-time whistle sounded on a dramatic evening in Glasgow's east end, the respective club legends locked horns, with TV cameras picking up the pair squaring up to each other. The match resulted in Scottish government intervention in the days that followed the cup replay, with the Hoops emerging victorious courtesy of a Mark Wilson goal. Speaking on Open Goal, Lennon has delivered his version of events, as he claimed the rammy began after nasty antics from El Hadji Diouf. And it was in this chat with Si Ferry that Lennon revealed what Scottish football legend Smith - Rangers manager at the time - thought of it all. "El Hadji Diouf started it all," Lenny said. "Emilio Izaguirre got injured after Steven Whittacker caught him in a foul, got a second yellow and was sent off. "Diouf came over to get instructions when Tim Williamson was running onto treat Emilio. "Diouf gives him one of them (motions an elbow). I clocked it and said 'you f*****g leave my staff alone'. "Coisty then came on to say 'don't talk to my players'. So, that was the start of it really, then it got really spicy in the game. We won 1-0, they had three men sent off. "I shook hands with Walter, then he goes. Coisty said 'don't speak to my players like that,' and I f*****g snapped. "The normal thing to do is to shake hands and leave it, but I said 'is that right?'" Asked about Smith's reaction, he continued: "He was amazing. He gave us both a bollocking afterwards in my office - he told us to behave ourselves! "He was brilliant. I loved him. I had a lot of respect for him, he was a brilliant manager. Really, really smart."

Max Aarons 'close' to Rangers transfer as Russell Martin swoops for former £20million Man Utd target

Bourenmouth full back Aarons was a one-time target for the likes of Man United and Liverpool Rangers are closing in on the signing of Bournemouth full back Max Aarons - according to a report. New Ibrox boss Russell Martin and sporting director Kevin Thelwell are ramping up Gers transfer drive, with Record Sport revealing that deals already in the offing for Maccabi Tel Aviv forward Dor Turgeman and Leicester City centre-half Conor Coady. ‌ And now according to reports in Italy, they are on the brink of snapping up Cherries defender Aarons on loan. ‌ The 25-year-old joined the Premier League side from Norwich City for £7million back in 2023 after spending the first five years of his professional career with Norwich City. Aarons - who is a former England youth international - spent the second half of last season on loan in La Liga with Valencia but made just three appearances in all competitions. Prior to his move to Spain, the right-back was linked with a £20million switch to Manchester United and had also previously been touted as a potential target for Liverpool back in 2022. Should Aarons head north of the border to Ibrox, then he would provide competition at right back to Rangers skipper James Tavernier, who has just 12 months remaining on his current contract. Tavernier often found himself out of the team under ex Gers boss Philippe Clement last season, with versatile Dujon Sterling frequently deployed as a right back. The Light Blues are also hoping to strengthen in the left back department on the other side of the pitch. ‌ However, they appear to have missed out on reported target Harry Darling. The defender is set to leave Swansea City at the end of his contract on June 30, and was said to be on manager Martin's radar having previously played under him at the EFL Championship club. But reports now state that the 25-year-old is poised to sign a deal with fellow English second tier club Norwich City, where Martin spent eight years as a player between 2010 and 2018. ‌ You can get all the news you need on our dedicated Rangers and Celtic pages, and sign up to our newsletters to make sure you never miss a beat throughout the season.
