Ciaran Meenagh appointed Derry football manager, Kerry name extended panel for All-Ireland final
Derry
footballers, succeeding Paddy Tally, who served just one year in the role.
It has been a tough year for Derry, not winning any matches and getting relegated to Division Two.
Tyrone man Meenagh has experience of the squad and was a member of Rory Gallagher's back room team for five years from 2018 to 2023, during which time Derry won back-to-back Ulster titles and climbed from Division Four to Division One.
When Gallagher stepped away in 2023, Meenagh acted as interim manager until the end of that season. He has since been coaching with
Down
as part of Conor Laverty's management team.

Kerry
have named an extended panel for Sunday's All-Ireland final against
Donegal
.
Former All Star Tom O'Sullivan has been omitted having failed to recover from a calf injury.
Centrefielder Diarmuid O'Connor has been included, albeit in a 28-man panel, which will have to be reduced to 26 by match day.
O'Connor and Dara Moynihan are the players added to the panel named for the Kingdom's All-Ireland semi-final against Tyrone.

Rovers beat Derry to take a big step towards the title
Shamrock Rovers moved ten points clear of second-placed Bohemians at the top of the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division courtesy of a 2-0 win over Derry City at Tallaght Stadium. The Candystripes had the better of the first half but came undone on the turnaround with Rory Gaffney notching a brace. Michael Duffy hit the post for Derry in the first half and the Hoops were tormented by winger Brandon Fleming who caused problems for the Rovers defence raiding down the right hand side against an out of sorts home side. But a goal two minutes after the restart from Gaffney, settled the Hoops. His second, a fine individual effort in the 65th minute, wrapped up the points for Stephen Bradley's side who look odds on now to go on to win the title with ten games remaining Derry had hoped for a first league win in ten against Rovers on the fifth anniversary of the passing of John Hume, the one time City president, but Gaffney put paid to those hopes with his two second half goals. Gaffney was in the action early as Rovers went close in the ninth minute when a long ball from skipper Pico Lopez found Gaffney who turned Mark Connelly but shot narrowly wide. At the other end Sadou Diallo chipped a lovely ball over the Rovers defence and in nipped Duffy who was denied as his shot hit the butt of the post. Duffy looked menacing and just before the half hour make, the winger cut brilliantly in between Lopez and Dan Cleary before drilling the ball across the face of the goal. Duffy continued to be a thorn in the Rovers defence and he set up Brandan Fleming out on the Derry left approaching half time. Fleming dropped his shoulder to get past Lopez and his fizzing cross had to be dealt with by Lee Grace's sliding clearance close to the Rovers goal line. Connor Malley recently signed by Rovers on loan from Sligo until the end of the season, was brought on for Aaron McEneff at half-time and supporters had barely taken their seats before Rovers hit the front in the 47th minute. Lee Grace picked out the run of Josh Honohan who scampered towards the byline before he rolled the ball across to the unmarked Gaffney who tapped home his seventh goal of the season. Malley almost made it 2-0 seconds after the Derry restart when his right foot shot from distance has goalkeeper Maher beaten all ends up, but the Derry shot-stopper was relieved to see the ball crash off the crossbar and behind for a goal kick. Gaffney's eighth of the campaign came just with 25 minutes left on the clock as he latched onto a Dylan Watts ball, before turning Alex Bannon in the Derry area, and then smashing left foot shot into the net. A superb finish by the Galwayman and game over as the home side comfortably saw out the remaining minutes. Derry finished the game with ten players as Alex Bannon, already booked, was given a second one and a red card by referee Paul McLoughin in the 79th minute for a sloppy two-footed lunge on Honohan. Paul Casey hails Hannah Tyrrell after Dublin legend bows out with All-Ireland glory
Paul Casey paid a glowing tribute to Hannah Tyrrell after the Dublin star signed off from inter-county football with an inspirational performance in the All-Ireland final PAUL CASEY hailed serial winner Hannah Tyrrell after she bid a fond farewell to inter-county football by playing a leading role as Dublin reclaimed the All-Ireland ladies SFC title. "The way she talks to the younger players and even to the more experienced players, she's such a leader within that kind of leadership group and within our squad. 'She's just fantastic. I really, really hope she enjoys this because she's worked so hard for it. She's given everything at the age she is and all she has achieved. I think this is a cherry on the top.' After retiring from international rugby with Ireland, Six Nations winner Tyrrell returned to duty with Dublin and bagged the first of her two All-Ireland medals in 2023. The multi-talented sportswoman also won an FAI Cup with St Catherine's in 2011. It was an emotional send-off at Croke Park for the Na Fianna ace, who had to be replaced six minutes from the end after sustaining what looked to be significant damage to her knee. Casey said: "I think you saw with the ovation she got coming off the pitch, it was very fitting for her, albeit she would have wanted it in different circumstances. Hopefully she'll be alright. "She seemed to have done something to the knee, which hopefully is not a cruciate. She's hobbling around there but I'd say it could be a week or so before she'll get to the bottom of that one." Carla Rowe collected her sixth All-Ireland medal as she captained Dublin to a dominant victory that saw them return to the summit in the first season under the dual stewardship of Casey and Derek Murray. A Sam Maguire winner in 2011, Casey added: "It's absolutely fantastic. When you have so much experience as we have in that group, to get a day when they all bring that experience to the pitch is just superb. Rory Gaffney's brace puts Shamrock Rovers 10-points clear as attention turns to big European date
Rory Gaffney's pair of second-half goals won them the tie comfortably and put 10 points between themselves and second-placed Derry. Off the back of a strong run of form since the league restarted, City emerged as the club most likely to challenge Rovers for the Premier Division but now, with a haul of just one point from a possible nine, their title tilt has lost its way as Rovers already look like champions in waiting. Yes, this game could have had a different outcome had Michael Duffy's shot on 15 minutes gone into the net instead of rebounding off the post but that was all they offered. Aaron McEneff was first to threaten with a shot on nine minutes but that was over the bar and not enough to worry City 'keeper Brian Maher. Two minutes later it was Gaffney who was wasteful with a good opportunity, the veteran striker with the pace and the nous to latch on to a long ball out of defence and burst past Mark Connolly but his shot was wide of the target. Derry had soaked up the pressure to that point and then responded with what proved to be their best chance of the game. Sadou Diallo spotted an opening, clipped the ball over the top for Duffy who did well to control it, beat Dan Cleary and get in a shot, which came off the upright. Rovers had then been quiet bar a free-kick on the edge of the box on 37 minutes from Danny Mandroiu which was straight at Maher. However, the second half was not even two minutes old when Rovers took the lead. A well-worked move down the left was started by defender Lee Grace, his pass to Mandroiu was flicked into the path of Josh Honohan and Gaffney timed his move into the box to evade his maker perfectly and tapped home. That seemed to sap the energy from Derry as Connor Malley and Honohan went close before Gaffney made it 2-0 on 65 minutes, the Tuam man was alert when a Dylan Watts pass from deep saw space open up for the 35-year-old striker who turned defender Alex Bannon to ram home his eighth league goal of the season. With 25 minutes left on the clock Derry were no longer serious rivals and Stephen Bradley was able to see out the game with an eye on Thursday's tie against Ballkani, taking off his goalscorer and getting minutes into the legs of substitutes like John McGovern and Adam Matthews. Substitute Michael Noonan forced a save from Maher on 80 minutes, but there was still time for more misery for Derry as Alex Bannon was sent off for a second yellow card.
