Search continues for man, 72, missing from dinghy on Solway Coast

Searches are continuing for a 72-year-old man reported missing after going sailing on a dinghy off the Solway Coast.Alistair Turnbull, from Gatehouse of Fleet, was last seen at about 13:00 on Tuesday.His dinghy was later found in the nearby Wigtown Bay area.Police said they were working with the coastguard, mountain rescue teams, drones and air support units to continue searching the coastline.
Supt Alison Wilson said: "Extensive inquiries are continuing and teams have been deployed across various areas in efforts to trace Alistair."We would also ask members of the public to report any information which may assist our inquiries to come forward."

The 23-year-old was with others and the alarm was raised around 1.45pm. Police, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service's specialist water craft, Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team, coastguards, a helicopter and the Scottish Ambulance Service were all scrambled. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'Around 1.45pm on Saturday, 14 June, 2025, we were called to a report of a woman having fallen into water in the Rogie Falls area of Wester Ross 'Emergency services attended however the 23-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. 'There are no suspicious circumstances, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal." Rogie Falls are a series of waterfalls on the Black Water. The falls are about 2 kilometres (1.2 miles) northwest of the village of Contin, next to the A835 road. They are a popular tourist attraction on the North Coast 500 road trip, with several forest walks and a bridge. The waterfalls on the Black Water at Rogie can be dramatic, especially after a sustained wet period or when there's snow melt coming off Ben Wyvis. POLICE are urgently searching for a 14-year-old girl who disappeared after spending the night with friends in a major UK city. Lucia, from Swansea, was last seen in Cardiff on June 14, just before midnight near Penylan Library, heading towards Wellfield Road. The teenager had been with friends but left the area on her own. She has been described as 5ft 6, with a slim build and long black hair. Lucia was wearing a white skirt, a cream puffer jacket, an orange top and possibly white Converse trainers at the time she went missing. Anyone with information about Lucia's whereabouts is urged to contact South Wales Police, quoting reference 2500188167.
