WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Driving on Grayton Beach will be prohibited starting from 10 p.m. until 8 a.m. during turtle nesting season.
According to a news release, this will be the third year that the Walton County Code office has assisted the South Walton Turtle Watch Group by restricting vehicle access to the area. This rule applies on July 4 as well.
Foot traffic access to the beach is not restricted, only vehicle access during the overnight hours until 8 a.m.. If the morning nesting survey period is completed before 8 a.m., vehicle access onto the beach may be granted.

The only exception for this rule is for vehicles launching or recovering boats. All vehicles launching boats must be parked in the designated parking areas to prevent obstruction to other beachgoers.
Officials say that headlights must be dim when driving between dusk and 10 p.m., and must only be used when in motion. Headlights must have red filters over them, and light wavelength with red filters should be less than 560 nm.
There will be Code officers at the access very early on the morning of July 4 to assist SWTW with the morning nesting survey.

Scattered afternoon showers and storms across South Florida may linger into the evening

South Florida's unsettled weather pattern, which has been bringing rain with occasional downpours, will continue through the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Early Thursday morning saw a few showers, but the chance of rain increases late morning and stays high through the afternoon and evening. Scattered storms will develop with the potential for heavy rain and localized street flooding. Afternoon highs will climb to near 90 degrees in the afternoon and it will feel like the low to mid 90s when you factor in the humidity. There is a low risk of rip currents along the Atlantic beaches, and the UV index is extreme. There are no alerts or advisories for boaters over the Atlantic and Keys waters. The CBS Miami Next Weather team continues to track the tropics. The National Hurricane Center is giving this system a medium potential (60% chance) of development. System off Florida's northeast coast has medium potential for development, according to the National Hurricane Center. NEXT Weather Regardless of development, the moisture associated with this system will enhance the potential for heavy rain across parts of Florida. The heaviest rain will likely occur along the west-central coast of the state. In South Florida we will also see some heavy downpours at times, with the potential for isolated flooding on Friday. There will be scattered showers and storms on Friday that could linger through the afternoon. In the evening, the chance of rain will begin to decrease. A few showers may pop up at night around the time fireworks take place. Scattered showers and storms throughout the day. NEXT Weather Saturday is looking soggy with rounds of rain moving in throughout the day. Scattered storms will be around due to lingering moisture. Some wet weather will be possible on Sunday as well due to lingering moisture. Highs will climb to the upper 80s this weekend due to more rain and clouds around. The chance of rain decreases early next week with only spotty storms likely on Monday and Tuesday.

Pittsburgh could see isolated thunderstorms before a dry and comfortable 4th of July

Thursday morning begins on a seasonably mild note across all of Western Pennsylvania and Northern West Virginia. Skies are mostly clear to partly cloudy, with more clouds and even a few isolated showers around our I-80 counties. WEATHER LINKS: Current Conditions | School Closings & Delays | Submit Your Weather Photos These clouds and showers are part of a weak but fast-moving upper-level disturbance and cold front that will move across our region later today. High temperatures and rain chances on Thursday, July 3 KDKA Weather Center The strongest lift and jet stream winds with this system will likely pass northeast of Pittsburgh into Central Pennsylvania, but this will still be close enough to give us a chance for some isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Sufficient instability and some wind shear will support a risk of hail and strong downburst winds with one or two cells that are really able to pulse up. Timing for potential severe weather KDKA Weather Center Storm coverage will diminish as the front passes by this evening, and with a loss of daytime heating. Low temperatures on Thursday, July 3, 2025 KDKA Weather Center Overnight into Friday, skies will clear out and temperatures will be seasonable for the Fourth. No weather issues are expected for those who are doing outdoor activities or watching fireworks. High temperatures on the Fourth of July KDKA Weather Center By Saturday, as high pressure moves east and winds shift to the southwest, we expect a warmer and more humid air mass to move in. Highs on Saturday and Sunday will be in the upper 80s to near 90, with the most likely days to see 90+ highs on Sunday and Monday as well. The heat dome that builds in this weekend will not be as strong or long-lived compared to the one last week, so this stretch of 90s will be brief and eventually capped off with a chance of storms late Monday afternoon into Tuesday. As always, any summer storms will be capable of producing downburst winds and small hail. Our pattern will remain slightly unsettled with daily low storm chances into the middle of next week. 7-day forecast: July 3, 2025 KDKA Weather Center Stay up to date with the KDKA Mobile App – which you can download here!
