Karnataka govt. initiates study to assess impact of AI on workforce
The Department of Electronics, IT, and Biotechnology of Karnataka has launched a study to assess the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the State's workforce.
According to Karnataka's IT and BT Minister Priyank Kharge, the initiative aims to inform the upcoming IT Policy 2025 and shape strategic interventions under the government's flagship skilling initiative, NIPUNA Karnataka.
As Karnataka continues to lead India's technological journey — with Bengaluru recently being ranked in the fifth position globally in AI and big data ecosystems, besides being home to over one lakh AI professionals — the State is placing strong emphasis on evidence-based policymaking to ensure inclusive, future-ready growth, the Minister said in a communique.
The AI Workforce Impact Survey invites responses from industry leaders, HR heads, technology practitioners, and the academia.
The survey, among other things, aims to understand how AI is being integrated into day-to-day operations across organisations, which business functions are seeing the biggest changes due to wider access to AI tools, and which job roles are most vulnerable to automation.
The survey is open until June 27, and all responses will remain confidential and anonymous, the communique said. The survey could be taken on: https://shorturl.at/dNNQU

He was in Paris where he attended a conference and the aeroshow, from where he was to leave for the US with his team. But his clearances didn't come through and he is expected to return straight to India. The "Design Automation Conference" which bills itself as the "The Global Event for Chips to Systems" is also crucial for Karnataka - Bengaluru being the country's IT capital - and Mr Kharge, who handles the state's IT ministry. The BIO International Convention is one of the key events for biotechnology, and claims to represent the "full ecosystem of biotech with 20,000 industry leaders from across the globe". It is not yet clear what proved to be the hitch in the clearance but the matter could snowball into the next political row between the BJP and the Congress, which rules the state.
