ADNOC Distribution announced a major expansion of its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, increasing its charging points from 53 in 2023 to over 200 in 2024, with a target of operating 500 high-power chargers by 2028.
Bader Saeed Al Lamki, CEO of ADNOC Distribution, said during the Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit (EVIS 2025) that the company continues to strengthen its position in EV mobility by developing advanced charging infrastructure and offering a smart, sustainable digital experience for customers, supporting the UAE's Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative.
He said innovation and technology remain central to the company's operations, highlighting features such as real-time updates via the ADNOC app and Apple smartwatches, in addition to Plug & Charge technology powered by artificial intelligence, enabling automatic vehicle recognition and charging as soon as it is plugged in.
The service also provides smart energy management and real-time predictive analytics, and integrates with ADNOC's loyalty programme while offering flexible digital payment options to enhance the customer experience.
Al Lamki noted that ADNOC Distribution's extensive network across all emirates allows customers to travel seamlessly, supported by premium retail services during charging, including exclusive offers and shopping at ADNOC Oasis convenience stores.
He said the company is showcasing the capabilities of the E2GO network at EVIS 2025 and exploring partnership opportunities with government entities, automotive manufacturers and energy providers to further contribute to ADNOC Group's decarbonisation efforts.
ADNOC Distribution reduced carbon emissions in 2024 by the equivalent of more than 23 million metric tonnes. The company remains the only one in the UAE currently enabling uninterrupted electric journeys thanks to its advanced infrastructure.
He added that ADNOC Distribution plays a pivotal role in supporting the future of EV mobility, with E2GO now fully owned by the company and operating as a major charge point operator that balances customer satisfaction with investment sustainability.
Al Lamki explained that customers can activate the Plug & Charge feature with a one-time setup, allowing them to enjoy seamless automated charging while monitoring the process through the app or smartwatches. He confirmed that the service is currently available for select vehicles within the E2GO network.
He concluded by saying that the company continues to expand its digital capabilities and smart services to support the national transition in the transport sector, while delivering a fast and flexible charging experience that meets the expectations of EV drivers across the country.

UAE dominates M&A activity in MENA region in H1 2025: EY report

19 Aug 2025 13:52 A. SREENIVASA REDDY (ABU DHABI) The UAE has emerged as the leading hub for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), drawing $25.4 billion in deals during the first half of 2025, according to the latest EY MENA M&A Insights with Saudi Arabia, which attracted $2.5 billion, the two markets accounted for a combined $27.9 billion, representing nearly half of the MENA region's total deal value .Across MENA, overall activity reached 425 deals worth $58.7 billion in H1 2025, a 31% increase in volume and a 19% rise in value compared with the same period last year. EY attributed the momentum to regulatory reforms, supportive policies, and a resilient macroeconomic outlook, although global trade shifts and regional conflicts tempered the M&A activity slightly in the second quarter .Brad Watson, MENA EY-Parthenon Leader, said: 'The positive performance in the first half of 2025 underscores the strength, dynamism, and resilience of MENA's M&A market. The UAE, in particular, remains a magnet for global capital, supported by a stable regulatory framework and a focus on economic diversification.' Australia's Santos flags delay in finalising ADNOC-led offer beyond deadline

Australia's Santos said on Tuesday that Abu Dhabi's National Oil Company (ADNOC)-led international consortium would not be able to finalise an $18.7 billion takeover bid for at least another four weeks, missing the August 22 deadline. The consortium, led by ADNOC's investment arm XRG, alongside Abu Dhabi Development Holding Company (ADQ) and private equity firm Carlyle, told Santos it would need at least four more weeks to secure all required approvals, even on an expedited timeline, and potentially longer, if not, from when the scheme terms are agreed upon. "While discussions and final confirmatory due diligence have continued to be collaborative, the parties are yet to reach agreement on acceptable terms of a binding SIA (scheme implementation agreement)," Santos said in a statement. With final terms still unresolved, it is unlikely for the parties to sign a scheme agreement before the extended Friday deadline. The transaction, if completed, would give XRG stakes in major operations across Australia and Papua New Guinea. However, oil and gas producer Santos' position as a key energy firm in Australia poses regulatory challenges to the deal. "Given the scale of the transaction, the XRG-led consortium continues to conduct due diligence and progress negotiations on a binding agreement," the consortium said in a statement. "Once due diligence has been completed and the scheme implementation agreement has been agreed, customary corporate approvals will be sought." The deal requires approval from regulators in Australia, Papua New Guinea, and the U.S. Meanwhile, Santos said it would defer its interim earnings report to August 25 from August 20. Shares of the company fell as much as 3.5% to a more than five-week low of A$7.68, as of 0101 GMT, compared to a 0.5% decline in the ASX 200 benchmark index. It was among the top losers in the broader equities gauge. (Reporting by Himanshi Akhand and Sameer Manekar in Bengaluru; Editing by Sumana Nandy and Rashmi Aich)

ADNOC's logistics unit records 14% growth in Q2 net profit

Adnoc Logistics and Services (Adnoc L&S), a global energy maritime logistics company, reported record-breaking second quarter (Q2) and first-half (H1) results for 2025, surpassing market expectations. Adnoc L&S Q2 revenue increased by 40 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to $1,258 million with EBITDA growing 31 per cent YoY to $400 million. Net profit for the quarter grew 14 per cent YoY to $236 million. In H1 2025, the company's revenue was $2,439 million, a 40 per cent YoY increase. EBITDA rose by 26 per cent YoY to $744 million, driven by robust performance across all business segments, sustaining EBITDA margin at 30 per cent. Net profit for H1 2025 was $420 million, up 5 per cent YoY, and up 18 per cent compared to H2 2024. Adnoc L&S's diverse and resilient business model enabled the company to deliver strong net profit and operating cash flow despite challenging shipping charter rate environments in gas, tankers, and dry bulk. Driven by strong performance in its core business segments and improving margins, Adnoc L&S has upgraded its full-year guidance, expecting faster growth due to continued momentum and enhanced operational efficiency across key areas. The company continues to enhance value and streamline operations across its diverse asset portfolio, while advancing integration and innovation through its shipping and logistics subsidiaries, Navig8 and Zakher Marine International (ZMI). Abdulkareem Al Masabi, CEO of Adnoc L&S, said: 'We are proud to report our highest-ever quarterly results, underscoring the strength of our growth strategy and our ability to capitalise on diversified opportunities across our Integrated Logistics, Shipping and Services segments. This record-breaking performance reflects Adnoc L&S's continued outperformance of market expectations, driven by robust cash flows, strategic partnerships, and operational excellence. In line with this momentum, our upgraded full-year guidance demonstrates our confidence in delivering long-term value to shareholders.' STRONG SEGMENTAL GROWTH FOR H1 2025 Integrated Logistics: The segment delivered a solid performance, with revenues rising 22 per cent YoY to $1,293 million, reflecting strong demand and strategic growth in key areas. As a result, EBITDA rose by 27 per cent YoY to $420 million, highlighting the segment's significant contribution to the company's overall results. This profitable growth was mainly driven by continued utilisation and rates on Jack-up Barges (JUBs), improved profitability on Integrated Logistics Solution Platform, and increased chartering activity beyond ILSP. Additionally, Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects, including the G-Island and Hail & Ghasha, contributed to revenue growth. Shipping: The segment demonstrated growth, with revenues surging 89 per cent YoY to $981 million. This performance was primarily driven by the consolidation of revenue from the Navig8 tanker fleet, marking a milestone in the company's strategic expansion. Shipping EBITDA increased by 25 per cent YoY to $290 million, despite substantially weaker market conditions than H1 2024, reflecting strong operational execution. A robust EBITDA margin of 30 per cent reinforces Adnoc L&S's ability to generate strong value even in less buoyant markets. Services: The segment continues to extend Adnoc L&S's diversified business model, with revenues rising 4 per cent YoY to $165 million. EBITDA grew 22 per cent YoY to $33 million, primarily driven by higher volumes at the Borouge Container Terminal and the share of profit from Navig8's bunkering business (Integr8). STRATEGIC UPDATE Adnoc L&S remains well-positioned to capitalise on opportunities across the energy and maritime sectors, actively pursuing strategic partnerships and joint ventures to extend its footprint in key growth markets. In Q2, the company signed a 15-year, $531 million agreement with Borouge, supporting the UAE's industrialisation strategy. The partnership will accelerate the growth of UAE petrochemical exports by providing port management, container handling, and feeder container ship services for the Borouge Container Terminal in Al Ruwais Industrial City. The company continues to reinforce its long-term earnings potential through strategic fleet expansion against long-term contracts. Following the delivery of its second LNG carrier in Q2 2025, Adnoc L&S is set to receive its first Very Large Ethane Carrier (VLEC) and the third of six LNG carriers in Q3 2025. Together with additional newbuild orders, these vessels are projected to strengthen the company's future earnings base, with over $26 billion of future income already contracted. TECHNOLOGY AND AI ADOPTION Technological innovation is a key driver of growth, and Adnoc L&S recently launched Smart Ports, an AI-powered port management system developed in collaboration with Innovez One. The system streamlines operations by reducing resource allocation time from three hours to a targeted 45 seconds, enhancing efficiency and potentially increasing jetty utilisation by 20 per cent, to deliver significant cost savings and improved operational performance. MEERAi, Adnoc's advanced AI solution, was deployed during Adnoc L&S's recent Board Meeting to support faster, better-informed executive decision-making. In addition, Adnoc L&S has partnered with Digital Ocean to introduce a digital platform to streamline the chartering of offshore support vessels, delivering seamless access to offshore capabilities. The solution automates charter-in vessel tendering and contracts management, features billing integration, and provides real-time visibility into vessel status, maintenance, and contract performance. -OGN / TradeArabia News Service
