Stalin's jibe at centre: Census delay no accident
CHENNAI: Sounding an alarm over the 2027 Census announced by the centre, CM MK Stalin, taking to X, said the danger of delimitation was imminent and that the Census would give the BJP-led union government the means to restructure parliamentary representation to its advantage, at the cost of the southern states. 'The census delay is no accident and delimitation plan no coincidence. The danger I warned of is at our doorstep,' he said.
Referring to the claim of the ministry of home affairs that the concerns of states would be addressed, the CM said, 'These are vague remarks. What is needed is a clear parliamentary commitment and a suitable constitutional amendment.' Meanwhile, in a post on X, DMK MP Kanimozhi lashed out at EPS, saying, 'The people of Tamil Nadu will never forgive your betrayal.' She added someone who bows down to their 'Delhi masters' has no right to preach to the DMK. 'You sold out. We won't,' Kanimozhi added.

BRS could not pay salaries on time, says Congress MLA
Choppadandi MLA Medipally Sathyam has lauded the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government for responding positively to the problems of government employees. He urged the employees not to fall prey to the Opposition parties' propaganda accusing them of provoking employees against the government. Speaking to the media here on Saturday, he said that the State Cabinet has taken decisions as per the aspirations of the employees, including granting one Dearness Allowance (DA) immediately, and another DA in the next six months. The Congress MLA also appreciated the decision to set up a healthcare trust and expressed satisfaction with the government's promise to release arrears at the rate of ₹700 crore per month. Mr. Sathyam contrasted the current government's approach with that of the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) led government, which he said had borrowed ₹8 lakh crore, and had not even paid salaries on time. The MLA said that the previous government owed the retired employees ₹8,000 crore. He also criticised the BRS for raising the retirement age to 61 years to avoid paying retirement benefits and for suppressing RTC employees' strikes with force, resulting in the deaths of over 40 workers. The MLA expressed confidence that government employees have placed their trust in the Chief Minister, who has been paying salaries on the first date, and has already given one DA.

Centre has diverted funds due to Tamil Nadu to other states: TNCC chief
COIMBATORE: Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K Selvaperunthagai on Saturday accused the BJP-led central govt of collecting taxes from Tamil Nadu without releasing the corresponding funds to the state. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now He condemned the Centre's move to reduce Lok Sabha seats in south India under the guise of constituency delimitation. Speaking to reporters at the Coimbatore International Airport on Saturday, Selvaperunthagai alleged that funds due to Tamil Nadu were being withheld and diverted to other states. 'Why the BJP govt, which exploits the blood and sweat of the people of Tamil Nadu, has not released funds for school education or disaster relief,' he asked. He accused the Centre of showing a stepmotherly attitude towards the state. The TNCC chief said the proposed delimitation would adversely affect southern states and it could render southern votes and parliamentary representation insignificant if carried out as the BJP desired. He warned that northern MPs would dominate decision-making, leaving little or no voice for the south. Commenting on Union home minister Amit Shah's visit to Madurai, he alleged that it was an attempt to create confusion and gain a foothold in Tamil Nadu. However, he asserted that such efforts would fail, as the people clearly understood the BJP's intentions. He reiterated that there was no place for the BJP or the RSS in the state.
